You'll have to fight VERY HARD to keep them in business to maintain these high standards of racing? , like you guys did to remove the starter in the South Island to improve your 'Standards of Racing" !! good work. Hey did you know Mr Pyers drove for quite a while in QLD back in the day? sending him home after failing here, may of improved our standards in Oz ? lol Stewards there have addressed the issue to keep your standards up high. Personally believe that harness racing will be better with the stake money being shared around more. From a punting perspective, will also be far more attractive! Ozzie harness would be far better if they were not racing on wee saucer tracks.

Mostly Australian harness racing is on large tracks these days Brodie. We have moved on from the tight turning Harold Park, Hobart showgrounds and Moonie Valley years ago. Menangle (NSW) is huge maybe 1400m?, The 2 main Tassie tracks are fantastic. Melton(VIC) is fabulous. Albion (QLD) is super fast too. Bendigo, Newcastle and Bathurst (where they run feature races ) are all 1000m + around so are definitely not saucers. Only Gloucester Park Perth (WA) is the only feature Racetrack to be 'Small' at 804m around. Mark Purdon still won the Interdom twice there recently with Lazarus and Smolda anyway. Isn't he Good ? what a champion..... Smolda was 10-1 too Brodie , so you could get a bet on fine !!!!!

Purdon has raced a few Australian breds successfully including Border Control. I think Vincent was another Aussie? They still have too many tight tracks like Wagga and That shocker in Queensland Marburg, Globe Derby is also tight. 1000m not too bad but still nothing beats Addington!! Globe Derby is a METRO track and 850m around but is excellent to drive on (seems bigger during a race) and all get a chance. Nothing Beats Addington though. It's a ripper !! I Could Watch NZ Cups and Derby replays till the cows come home. 2

Yes, Melbourne Showgrounds and that classic saucer ,Wayville. Those horses trained on the track had a permanent lean to the left so it was said. The thing not mentioned was the smashes they used to have on those small tight turning tracks. I was present at the Melbourne track as a teenager when a pile up occurred. Sulky shafts flying everywhere and zipping past us standing at the rail. Terrible .

Not just those tracks either Globe. Here's NZ derby at Addington with a nine horse crash, as Liquid Lightning jumped the winning post shadow after the start. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bp_HlBJwCQ0 thankfully All drivers and horses escaped serious injury Somehow??? Charlie Hunter a bit shaken but walked into ambulance.
