The Centaur
Not very diplomatic criticizing Jamie Richards at the top of his game but it gets tiresome hearing from him about the great team. Yet hardly ever hear who is in the "great team" or interviews from them. Anyone else think the "Plonkers of the week" award go to the Melody Belle syndicate owners. Seems they want to sell when she finishes racing possibly at the end of this season. When it comes to sentiment the first sentiment is quick cash.

Selling at the Magic Millions Broodmare sale after a short Brisbane campaign is a common pathway for mares that have syndicate ownership. It has been publicly reported that this is the option they are pursuing. Quite often it is written into agreements from the start. With the large number in Melody Belle's ownership there would be no other practical option.
Chief Stipe
I might add though that Melody Belle was syndicated by Fortuna.

The MB situation is something that Te Akau puts into all it's fillies syndicates , saves a hell of a lot of grief at the end of racing career , probably been caught in a syndicate fight early on and now makes this a provision , so not a want just a condition of joining the syndicate . As for the "the team" , all the big names do it now , and for mine it is due justification for a job well done , the team is the heart of any big success in the big stables . I can assure you i have worked for people who choked having to say " thanks " for a job well done , many ego's don't want anybody else getting any credit , so good on him . I also happen to know one of the barn managers , a top horseman in his own right , so he earns his plaudits and he does get a mention on TV . 1

Just did my vote for the ALL STAR MILE on her today.!! Good Luck Jamie Richards and "Team" !!!!
The Centaur
Traditionally the post race photograph includes jockey, trainer and owners. Now the owners are usually over 50 years so won't be around 50 years time. Yet having the day to day carer and track rider in the photo means the person will have something 40 years on.

Freda
Fantastic all right. Wonderful results. What a shame we can't run a racing industry as well as we can produce horses and horsemen/women. 1

At the moment tab is run to benefit tab. That doesn't mean benefit to nz racing. Aegon being a 'small horse" kind of has escaped my attention.
