Karrots
Read a nice article on HRNZ how Pembroke P, plans to play the chasing game đ (of course all going well that he gets there). 1. Like his chances, if he can get to the top without burning too hard first quarter. Will he prove too good once dictating in front or will the A-Team be able to peg him back or any of the âOthersâ for that matter? 2. Will Krug get Karrots seal as champion 3-yo? Can he come from behind if he doesnât make lead, work during race and still win? While I have him as best current 3y-o, he still doesn't have the champion yet seal from me. Will he get that seal tonight? A nice article on Lincoln Farms site about The Dealer & his chances. 3. Who will take the big trot where some big names headline? Will 1 of the favourites gallop or will it be smooth sailing for all & a ding dong tussle til the line? We have another thread with some fun guesses on. Be another exciting race to watch. So far for our derby trifecta fun guessing game here are the selections and entrances? Will someone take it out or have we missed it? Last minute entries are still being excepted. *Karrots - The Dealer, Krug, BD Joe, Luke John, *Gamms - Shan Noble, Its all about faith, Yorokobi, Krug *Davis - Luke John, Shan Noble, The Dealer, The Falcon *Roman - Luke John, BD Joe, Krug, Pace N Pride *Have a Go - Shan Noble, The Dealer, Pace N Pride, Razzo Mach *Hunts - Krug, Dashing Major, Got You Covered, Razz Mach *Taupiri Wonder - Luke John, BD Joe, Shan Noble, Razzo Mach *Ranga - any 4 with any amount of stars on the colours 4. There is also the 3y-o trotters Derby, looks like a nice race also. Who will be the victor? 5. Back up at Alex we have a debut 2 y-o sweet lou, a mention by Taupiri Wonder on here & also Mangos in an HRNZ says he rates the young fella. Aztech Shard. Will he win fresh up against the older horses? 6. While talking about 2y-os, nice win last nite by young trotter filly Emma Joy for Teaz, who he is on for our fun 2y-o jewels game comp, its a typo mix-up. If you are watching the racing tonight, enjoy and happy punter đ

There are No fillies in the Pacing Derby this year. but there are 3 in the $100k Trotters Derby. Maybe Mark Purdon can  get Wanna Play with Me in for a win for the girls?

Horse Might be 'Premiership'? he was a good horse for them around that time. Would of been around the year they won the Cup with Hands Down as well. Gammalite the 'wonderhorse' also had crack at 5 state Derbies in Australia in 1980. Placed 2 x 2nds , 2 x 3rds, and a WIN in the South Australia Derby!. mention that as being Derby Day NZ, and also a great piece of trivia is that South Aus Derby was the very First Race Start for POPULAR ALM . (nearly the best Oz horse ever) .Popular Alm was backed from 33-1 into 2-1 fav !! and finished second to Gammalite (saving the bookies bigtime! lol...). Popular Alm also second to Gammalite at Auckland Interdominion final 1983 !! Shame about the 15 other times they met in a race, the result went Poppy's way !! hahahahaha,

All the excellent racing action đ  30 degrees , nice and sunny , beers are on ice, multis are going on now. stuff the Qld trotting (don't watch that boring mile racing anymore (but don't tell Brodie) lol) some good memories from Ranga of past Derbies. Everything is great and all ready to score up for victory. $4 at 70-1 on Bolt/franco/5wisemen/Selfassure/ all to win and coupled with ShanN with Nat at $2.60 place = $280. that quintet will get the ball rolling nicely. anything hot to trot at Auckland?

Well done anyway. Can take 3rd place knowing they gave it a good crack! Sweet Lou 2y-o was ok in 3rd. What a win by Muscle Moutain & B Hope. Where did that come from. Yeehaa. Congrats to them & B Hope on Group 1 victory! Krug wins from the front, congrats to connections. Maybe its time for me to call him the champion hehe. the galah
I liked that we had several 2600m races to watch. I always think they are more interesting and exciting than the 1980m races.
