It seems GRNZ have known this was going to happen for some time.

If you want to see where this is going check out the detail on who is doing the review.

What is animal sentience?

The National Animal Welfare Advisory Committee (NAWAC) understands animal sentience to mean that animals have emotions, feelings, perceptions, and experiences that matter to them. These can be negative (such as pain or boredom) as well as positive (such as pleasure or comfort).

The writing is on the wall when you look at the people that are involved and having sucess.

X -Rodeo

X -Live animal exports

Its interesting putting the pieces of the puzzle together.

  • Cleo Swarbrick - Green party
  • Gareth Hughes - Green Party
  • SAFE - Board member Gareth Hughes
  • NAWAC committee   - Anya Dale (SPCA)
  • GRNZ welfare  committee - Anya Dale (SPCA)

Reality is those within the media who decide what stories the general public get to read and view, have this agenda to push any story that highlights the animal welfare issues within the industry. Its not going to stop.

The media believes in the message they promote, they believe there is an element of cruelty that exists within the greyhound industry and they believe they have the moral high ground.

And the reason the industry struggles to rebutt such thinking is because there is a degree of truth in the medias message.Until that changes the medias drums will grow louder.

I like the greyhounds, but i can't understand how they have got to the point where certain breeders mass produce such high numbers, and what happens around the fate of the large numbers you never see or hear of. I can't understand how the live baiting issue came to nothing and went on for so long beforehand. So if people who don't want  to see the industry fold can see the industry has problems ,then its easy to understand how those on the outside might push for its demise in this p.c. world we live in..

What about the puppy factories producing large numbers for the pet industry?  Is the idealist Chloe promoting legislation to stop that?

What about the pet breeds that can't breed naturally?  The bulldog breeds for example where they are artificially inseminated because the male's legs are too short and birthing can only be achieved through caesarian because the female's pelvis is to small.  Where is Chloe's legislation too ban them?

It seems even the massive resources of the SPCA couldn't find enough evidence to push for a conviction.  Perhaps they should have used INCA techniques and utilised the Police wire tapping service.

The industry doesn't struggle to rebut because it doesn't do anything!  Where was Hughes and co when the Meth case hit the news?  "No comment" was the loud response.  No positive spin that the positive was 1 in over 3,000 tests or that any positive is very very rare in Greyhound racing.

Nor was there or has been any front foot action on the Government review which they were alerted to months ago.  To say that they are asleep at the controls of the lure would be an understatement!!!!
