Remember back to the eve of 1999 the Y2K theory. How weird it seemed to be going into the 2000’s. Take a second to think back to yourself then & where you were at that time. Gosh the year 2020 seemed like something so far away, a lifetime away. But here we are, in 2021 NYs eve 2022 on horizon.

Pop in this thread anything you can recall good, bad or a horse race memory, changes that have happened between this timeline. 1999 - 2021.

Gamms, Ranga, Mikey NZ enjoy sharing Nostalgia times.

Now lets take a look at 2041, because this date in time will come.

What does racing look like? Could be a silly answer, a humorous answer or serious.

Current time 2021 is this YEAR of Cross-Roads for Harness? Currently in a transit season. BIG changes are on the way.

Shut your eyes Harness folk, imagine yourself behind your fav horse & in the sulky BUT on the road - (we play imagination game) - now what road will you take, North West or East? Or will you turn around go back South? Warning if you go back South, the road will not be exactly the same. Each road has a different ending. Which road has the pot of Gold at end or does any at all, is this a trick?

The gallop peeps helped me come up with this idea for a thread.  Thanks Gallops peeps. (Owe us favours anyway after taking Saturdays).

So e.g. a post could be something like

Year 2020 no more Saturday racing.

Or

Could be 2020 radio was discontinued, then 2021 radio returned.

Posting about where we are in 2041 no right or wrong answer as no-one knows for sure Harness racings fate.

That could of been a post from Brods & then we could of started a timeline from 1999 doing each year until 2021.

Feel like this year 2021 is the year of the Cross Roads for harness in NZ. Just hope that which ever road is taken its the right one.

Just saw an article on hrnz about how a 90 year in Aus is returning to training. How fab for her.

Westport and Reefton Cups and the Digger Hartigan Memorial.

This feat was repeated a few years later by Jimmy Fried Chicken and Highview Badlands.

So that is our YEAR 1999 done and 2001.

2002 - Leading stakes winners this year // Trotter 5yo+ Take a Moment $146,724 // Holmes DG pacer 5+ $278,332 // Young Rufus 4 yo $160,940 // Jack Cade 3 yo $304,600 // Light and Sound 2 y-o $303,885 

2006 -  The idea was agreed by Ashburton to install a passing lane. This was to enable more runners a fair chance in home run

2011 - A horse no longer faces mandatory disqualification for passing inside the marker pegs in the final 600m of a harness race.Exceptions to a horse being disqualified are now if it is established that the breach is caused by interference by another horse or horseman, or it is established that the horse did not gain any advantage in its finishing position.The board of HRNZ proposed the rule change at the suggestion of the Racing Integrity Unit, who felt it was unfair to disqualify a horse who had not gained an advantage.

2020 - Online auctions started to take place Gavel House providing the platform.

2021 - Year daughter of prob BOAYS most fav poster graduated law & how stunning she is. Gamms you must be proud. Brains & beauty. Right adding to hot list haha.

Well a great moment for harness racing would be for 2010 when Blackie defeated the kiwi Monkey King at Menangle  . "BLACKS A FAKE becomes first horse ever to win the Interdominion Grand Final on 4 occasions, between NZ and Oz, for the illustrious Natalie Rasmussen !!"

thanks for the compliment for 2021 Karrots re. daughter Fio (now with huge pay rise and begins working new job at Supreme court next month for the judges ) an amazing dream for us ..........

  BUT in needing a more equine flavoured theme for your time-line you need to change it to going with that Amazing Dream maybe??  .......................... and Copy That too.

Ok its year 2041, the Chinese who have taken over New Zealand have decided that horse racing is no longer relevant for New Zealand so have decided to cull out racehorse, the task has been made easier by the fact everybody gave up ten years earlier because the lockdown which lasted 8 years was just too tough on owners trainers and club finances.😁

Yip well anything is possible these days hey.

Speaking of Alex.

They are hoping to increase stakes, e.g. Auckland Cup to go up $100k - $200k & also another feature race to raise in stake approx same amount.

And they are also hoping to increase all other non feature races to $15k.

Not really an increase when It used to be $20k not that long ago, but up is better than back down.

Who knows of course when this will happen. Hey we could add it into our timeline 😁

Interesting listening briefly to zb, a guy from the South Island hacked off with this control freak,Adern continuing to stuff the economy by grinding it  to a halt, in his words saying it's only a matter of time before China take us over, they created this virus and stand to be the great benefactors in the aftermath, so while my post about 2041 may seem humorous the reality is we are heading for doomsday if we continue with these numbskulls in Wellington.

Due to all crazy times the world has experienced over the past 20 years. There is a world wide food shortage. The Chinese owned companies in NZ, that are also part owned by CCP, that export food back to China, as part of level 4 lockdown have been told NO STOP exports by NZ PM. BUT due to world-wide food shortage, millions are dying & the CCP leader, has threatened if you DONT send the food we will come in. (We OWN these companies). Their ships are not far from our shores. They have undercover agents already working in amongst us e.g. police, within parliament. IT, schools, power companies etc.

Its a matter of loo paper survival. Reality is the worst in people comes out. The more desperate the times the worst it gets.

What do you think peeps would start doing in NZ, if they said there was a food shortage. Goodness only knows.

Now lets think about that with another country that needs to feed their people.

If only 2 tracks in North, Cambridge & Alex, if anything shows are Covid lockdowns its GOOD to have more than just 2 options per Island - re region for racing.

North needs to keep 3, Alex, Cambridge & Mana.

Yip good tho that many are aware of this now, helps more than being naive & eyes closed.

The younger North generation are seeking more opportunities overseas.

Was reading on Harnessed Facebook, L Whittaker & M White are leaving to go overseas, following J Dickie & M Bowden.

Another person has commented stating they have word on another North trainer thinking of moving too.

It also read that Alex P (ATC) have confirmed a loss of $90 million. 

Do we need to add into our timeline the fall of the North?

Year 2027 … ?

Wonder what is being planned to stop this potential date line from potentially happening ... ?
