Pools very small today again , has to be an access to having a bet that is the problem , or maybe all the Aussie punters aren't up yet . Yes 11k & 5k in the 2yo at Wanganui, however probably put that down to lack of form. But the next at TR doesn't look inspiring.
Gospel of Judas
What is point punting on NZ Racing? unless got good information or know someone in the know. To risky and going lose money. Why stuffall money in these NZ pools. Plus all money be on the fixed odds.

Well wouldn't they need a total of $1,500,000 in turnover to clear enough to cover the Stake?

Wow that is a real worry, have to think today a few short priced favs missed out so the bookies must have been happy on it. However 25k for a race like that sums up well where we are heading.

BF had over 18k win matched on the Foxbridge and 22k place. They'll pass the TAB tote soon at that rate.
Ludwig
Hard to see the Ashburton meeting on Monday turning over big bucks. They certainly got the short straw.

Yeah. It's actually the CJC meeting shifted from today.

I'm no punter, just have the occasional (very) small wager, but Covid-19 has zero impact on me being able to deposit funds, and then having that little bet. Surely any serious punter would find it just as easy?
curious
Absolutely no difference for me getting bets on (80 odd bets since Wednesday) Don't see why Covid would change that. Edited September 4, 2021 by curious

Perhaps it shows just how dependent we are on those smaller punters that go along week in week out ,who may not be bothered with the card deposits.

I think if they can't be bothered, especially in lock down, we certainly shouldn't be relying on them.

curious
Globally last year, overall gambling reduced because of lack of access to land based gambling. In NZ, that had a positive impact subsequently on problem gambling. A post lock down re-assessment in June 2020, found that reduction in gambling relative to pre-pandemic was maintained, and that the proportion worrying about their gambling reduced from 17% during the lockdown to 11%. Yes instead of worrying about their gambling, the lockdowns made them worry about their livelihoods.
Chief Stipe
But didn't the NZ TAB show an increase in turnover during the last lockdown? That being part of the reason for a slightly improved result turnover wise?

Surely any serious punter would find it just as easy? A large portion of our punters are just working class low wage earners , go into any pubtab or TAB and have a look around , large majority go to the TAB and bet thru a few hours , especially in pub tabs , i see a large number just walk into my TAB and put their bets on for the day then go home to watch . The change to minimum cost bets on phone bet stopped people having them and either stopping or just putting a few on at start of the day . A lot of low wage earners don't have credit cards so even if they do have phone accts can't top up . So if people can't access putting bets on at start of day or access topping up accts then i can see how it would impact turnover . I'm not saying this is the full answer but i can see it being in some way part of it . I hope .
