The way O'Meara presented his horses gave the impression they were from a different planet. Best thing was these horses all had their day and it was such a contest. Excitement plus the days of good crowds. They all battled it out for age group races too. Name me a bunny in that field! Great field happy, when was the last time we got a field of quality 3yo's or 4yos for that matter with more than 2 or 3 live chances!
Rangatira
robalan and his 3 nz ffa's was my first lasting memory being from a non racing family we seldom went to the races but we went to the show and then we would go watch the nz ffa holidaying in nelson we went to the equaliser meeting at richmond just after new years and i can recall a day trip to reefton a couple times my father knew where the tab was and there was always a racing page but not a racebook i used to bet in 2 and 5 cent units with i am thinking my father playing the bookie listening to staticky stations like 3za for the greymouth night trots

What chance have you got of making enough money to make it pay nowadays and when you are racing horses that have mainly therapeutic blood work!! Doubt also that in March that you would get a field of 14 horses as half the field would come from one stable! How things have changed and certainly not for the betterment of the harness industry, but then there are some knobs that think differently, but they have a hidden agenda haven’t they? This year the same race went for 43k and had 7 starters. How's that for progress!

Did pay a bit for Artstanding last year but he may not work out to be his Best Buy. Good luck to him with those 2 year olds. Would be great to see someone else get the top filly & colt for a change
