What’s it cost per month to train a dog now?

This article claims it cost $22,500 to get a dog to its maiden run.

It does not make any claims of the cost once in work, but it seems to me the cost to a syndication would have concluded after its first placement.

I have no idea what the terms are for a syndicate. I've only ever owned dogs outright.

The article I referenced was about guide dogs for the blind. By posing it it got some attention generated about your real question.

If you're serious about exploring syndication I'd recommend contacting a public trainer in your area of the country.

If they don't do syndicates themselves they'll surely know someone around them that does.

Spend 10 seconds reading the article you refer to, or do you need the assistance of the amazing dogs that the article is about. Yankiwi you write a lot of shit but this must be close to your best/worst/most ignorant ?

I'm very sorry my posts don't meet your high standards. It might be best if you put me on your ignore list.

Don't worry about OLD BILL.

Hey BILLY BOY..........you still using that Choroform aftershave?

What does BILLY BOY and a dentist have in common?

They knock you out before drilling the cavity.

We're watching you Bill. Behave yourself now.

Breaking in and rearing a litter can cost anywhere between 15-30k up until they race.

On a 50/50 deal with no fees, i used to need a greyhound make 12k a year to cover its costs. 6k to cover food, supplements etc and 6k to the owner. I presume this will be more now

Thats why I’m not involved now.  A big gamble.

cheers

Although there are many good reasons to be scared away from owning a racing greyhound, don't let the misreading BitofaLegend's post be one of them.

The numbers he had quoted initially was for an entire litter (15 to 30k) to get the litter broken in & ready to race.

He then stated that he as a trainer on a 50/50 deal needed each dog to make 12k a year in which he would be paying someone like yourself as the owner 6k (50%) of it.

One thing he didn't mention was that he would sell one or more of the dogs to an "owner" for whatever selling price was negotiated.

Hope that clarifies & expands on the good information he has provided.

Yes, those figures were just a baseline with alot of variables.

Those were just the numbers id go by personally.

15-30k does encompass all costs up until they start racing which isnt a bad number. Youd expect most litters to be capable of making back what you spent on them from the bitch being semenated to the dogs starting to race

A dog making 12k a year is from a trainers perspective and can vary greatly. 12k a year for me covered all basic expenses of that said dog on a 50/50 deal.

Saying that I'd still need a few dogs to make more to cover personal expensives etc as i didnt operate with training fees.
