Brodie
Beragio needs to be retired. He will never win a race if he can’t pace so maybe Murray needs to trot it. Hiw bad would that be? Is a standardbred allowed to race at Riccarton against the thoroughbreds?

Richie
Too much ability to stop.Has to keep persevering for another few starts,Needs to be put on unruly, there is noway I would have started him from barrier 1 the other day no matter how well behaved he been at workouts and home..If you went on horses early careers we wouldn't have had Blossom Lady,Hands Down or Basil Dean as they were all a wee bit wayward first handful of starts and never gave any hint of becoming the champions they did.Not saying Beragio will be a champion but has gone some very nice sectionals at trials and in his raceday 2nd to Old Oake Emma

Beragio has got nothing! Where have these quick quarters been? It has shown absolutely nothing on race day and when it is on the unruly it will continue to be nil. Why they waste their time with an 8 year old pace with one place on the grass at Blenheim defies logic. Even if it did win one on the grass at the coast at Christmas which is highly unlikely, it would’ve cost them a helluva lot more in training costs over the next few months! Are they are after black print? seriously though, Beragio got warned by the Stipes, FFS it is a shocker at every start so how on earth is it not UNRULY? What does it have to do, bring down the whole field? Edited July 29, 2018 by Brodie

Sorry, but the horse showed absolutely no gate speed from 1, when the pace went on it just galloped and galloped! Look it may show something somewhere maybe the training track, but as a racing proposition NO!

Brodie
Yes, he is in again Beragio!!! Race 5 on Sunday at Rangiora drawn the second row from a STAND! Murray Edmonds is down to drive him this time! Imwish Murray all,the best in getting this horse away and keeping it lacing the whole race! Why on earth is he allowed to race and why isn’t he UNRULY?????? Anyone prepared to give Brodie “evens” on whether Beragio Gallops in the Race???? Should be a TAB option!!!!
Brodie
Not a bad day at the office for Beragio today at Rangiora. It galloped at least 5 times during the running of its race! This is pathetic that it is allowed to still be racing as it just doesn’t know how to pace!!! FFS stand it down indefinitely and if the owners continue to want to pay to train it, then they must have rocks in their heads.

Who are you to say the owners have rocks in their heads, they are the ones paying to keep the hose going, and the industry needs all the owners it can possibly get. for those that punt, they know fine well they are taking a huge risk. so it hardly affects them. Yes of course the owners pay the bills and have the right to race the horse. The fact is that Beragio would take the cake for being the pacer that has galloped in the most races early in its career. Why on earth they persevere with it defies logic and yes there are probably slower horses but at least they know how to pace for a full race. The horse should be stood down indefinitely until it knows how to pace .

MarkyMark, yes it does cost a lot of money to own and race a horse in NZ, and only a small percentage will end up on the positive side! Don’t really think you could applaud them though for deciding to race Beragio, as it doesn’t know how to pace and it is an eight year old!!! Why would they still bother, it galloped on at least 5 times yesterday at Rangiora and really the Stipes have been very lax in not standing the horse down and/or making it unruly. Is there anyone in NZ that actually believes that Beragio will win a race in NZ the way it goes??? They would be better off paying out for a horse that knows how to pace and has a chance at winning a race.
