I'm OFF N GONE

Recommended Posts

Things are looking Grim when the CEO of HRNZ  (Woodham) sends his nice horse to Australia to race, rather than seeing her compete locally.

OFF N GONE was a handy mare a year ago from the leading Nz stable of Robert,John and Jenna Dunn.

But surprisingly, she has had only 1 win in the past year, even with all this 'Beach magic B/S ' that you read about here and there, from the harness conspirators/ distractors.

Chasing home It's All About Faith , Taipo,  etc in -1.55 MR is just a fraction to fast for her to get in the placings (spring campaign)

The Summer campaign has seen I'm Off N Gone regain form with Dean Braun (Cruz Bromac man)  in Victoria winning her last 2 starts now.

She Beat the even money fav SMOOTH DEAL the other day !!  a horse of Allstars sacked from NZ for poor performance , he has 5 wins with Brent Lilley now)

Crikey it's hard to win in NZ ??? for the nice mid class horses. Pembrook Playboy another example IMO. send him over too !

Spirit of St Louis and Triple Eight are having a 'Field Day' earning big dollars , after mild NZ form in fast class. send more over......

Yep seems to have improved and would have to rate her above I'm Off N Gone.  Is there a beach in Melbourne they're training on?  St Kilda?  Brighton?  Mornington?

I took the kids to Melbourne a few times and they don't have any beaches??. Just 'sludge' dumps in Port Philip bay from the huge amount of freight shipping traffic in and out of Port of Melbourne. We went to Geelong once , around the famous pier and that, on a 35 degree day and all these people were swimming right next to this black oily sludge on the rocks. We took kids to the council pool instead !! lol in the Chlorine. We are really spoilt in SE QLD with Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast beautiful beaches.

I wouldn't even put my horse in the water in Melbourne (maybe Mornington Pennisula is better) let alone step in that St Kilda , Altona etc.

Nathan Purdon doing an awesome job with Spellbound. Yes ! big chance from the pole draw indeed. (no swimming needed lol)

I might move some of these posts to a separate thread.  It was hijacked when the intent was to wish the NZ team(s) all the best in the big Group 1's at Melton this Friday and Saturday night.

I thought I'm Off N Gone's last start performance was good one.

I'm hoping Spellbound's performance on Saturday will be better.

Good luck.  She is on fire as well although not as race hard.  Will she hand up to I'm Off N Gone?

Hope not, she was going  to have a bit more of a break chasing the Ladyship Mile but alo g came another group one so the break was a quick refresh. Nathan had her at Geelong Monday and she look good.

On stats she is quicker than the other mare.  Will be an interesting first quarter.  I'm Off N Gone will need to step out the best it ever has and probably will get parked.  Likewise if the other mare misses it a smidge then it'll need luck.

LOL I'll certainly be watching the race with a bit more interest!

Hey Chief , do you have free to air racing channel in NZ ?

I'm pretty excited, as just watching the Wednesday Victoria races on Racing .com channel 78 as usual. (there are about 40 free to air TV channels in Oz these days )

And they just announced for the first time ever Racing.Com is gunna do the Melton Harness racing Saturday night !!!

About time they looked after the Good Tough beautiful horses !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is the start of the HARNESS revival ?  I hope so . how good ?   Pure Steel (a Hunter Cup specialist would be proud ) will have to see how Gammalite did in that race now ? lol...)

Love to capture a group one, reckon she deserves it, Johnny always said she has a very quick cruising speed.

What a Win !! harness racing is taking off in Oz and so is SPELLBOUND . congrats Unhinged .

For the first time Ever .........

We had a live broadcast all around Australia on free to air tele for the Melton meeting with many stars of the game interviewed and sitting on the Panel including Anthony Butt and Belinda McCarthy.

They wore the 'Black Armbands' for Spellbound race !! in tribute to the late Roy Purdon . passing away this week aged 94 in NZ.

His grandson trained the winner !!. Nathan Purdon so emotional after the win , he burst into tears on National TV and could barely get the words out. What a fitting moment for Roy though. !  Young driver MacDonald did a great job too. Fantastic night for harness racing . (Amazing Dream a game 3rd in Hunter Cup for Nathan too.)

The next Generation of Purdon , taking over the scenes already !!  the tradition continues .................

I'm Off and Gone went a great race last week Chief , via 'the cape of Good Hope" in Spellbounds race last week .

Wasn't missed by the punters either . Tonight, Had to work for 400m to get the lead  but waltzed away by 4 lengths at the end at just $1.20 . at Melton in Victoria

Getting up at Menangle for big wins kiwi owned mares STYLISH MEMPHIS and THE HONEY QUEEN.

Stylish Memphis was great odds paying $4 too . was a bit better than tonights field.

A big $200k mares race LADYSHIP mile coming up soon at Menangle. (Stylish Memphis is defending champion)  Gunna be a great clash of all the NZ mares ??? Hope Spellbound and I'm Off and Gone have a crack.

can't wait. !!!

But the other night it showed zero gate speed and then pulled back to the rear.

Yes , in your video just above here , I'm Off and Gone absolutely walked out of the mobile , slowest first 200m you would ever see in a Group 1 after drawing 3 i imagine. she was crazy slow out.

Tonight only a 6 horse field and was driven aggressively for 400m before finally taking over in 28 second 1/4.

Home in 27.5 to waltz away from them at the end though.

Old mate 'KRUG' about to go for Dalgety's. drawn 1 at Menangle so hard to beat.

Mark Jones I respect and admire the most in NZ trainers.he cannot get stylish Memphis to go that good and fast.mark Purdon did and now jack trainor.does he just hold her back to peak for them or he cannot train them Pacers at the elite level?

I watched Krug. To me he looked like a tired horse.Maybe thats why he broke the week before. Last night he was gifted the lead from his 1 draw, received no pressure on an average speed, then just fell in to 2nd,fading quickly the last bit.  Will be interesting to see how he goes if he keeps racing.
