Joe Bloggs
Waller closing QLD stable? It's more than a rumour apparently, even I've heard the rumblings, the prize money here in relation to the other states is terrible, the pre-race swabbing is almost non existent [just like NZ] and the integrity commission is in meltdown with all the corruption within the ruling party and it's Monarch will not answer questions. We must remember, Hawkes couldn't make it work and they were a massive op with stables in 3 states, QLD is morphing into NZ, there's not much difference, except we have warmer weather [much] and snakes, plenty of snakes, some with two legs. It wouldn't surprise to hear a statement shortly from the Foxton maestro either confirming or putting a firehose on the sparks that are itching to become flames..... As a footnote, Brian Guy, a great trainer for many decades pulled up stumps last week, sold his house and stables and almost disappeared overnight, an honest and reputable man and a terrible loss to our industry. The great state of QLD is going back to the bad old days when Joh from Chch ran QLD like a Fiefdom......we wait with baited breath..... How is it JB that NSW and Victoria racing do so well but Queensland is in the doldrums? It just makes not sense to me that two states are going gangbusters while the one right next door is(apparently) in disarray. I might add I am taking your word for it because I don't really follow Aussie racing any more. NZ has the excuse of incompetent administrators, boards who know absolutely nothing about racing and underperforming big clubs sucking the industry dry financially but what is Queensland's problem?

The tracks are worse. Is Queensland really doing all that badly? Hell if you compare the following Stakes to NZ I know where I'd rather be racing a horse! Non-TAB maidens in the bush are worth $8,500. $14,000 for country maidens! A minimum of $20k for maidens everywhere else! The Queensland thoroughbred industry is set to prosper from a $5.5 million prize money increase. From January 1, 2022, Racing Queensland will deliver increases across provincial, regional and country racing, along with black-type races. As a part of the announcement, South East Queensland Provincial showcase races (52 per year) will soon double to $50,000, with all provincial maiden races at Ipswich, the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast increasing by $2,000 to $26,000, and non-maidens to $24,000. Provincial meetings at Beaudesert, Kilcoy, Warwick, Gatton and Dalby will also receive a $2,000 boost, racing for $19,000 in the New Year. Toowoomba races will also receive a $1,500 uplift, with maidens soon to be worth $23,500 and all other races set at $21,500. In Central and North Queensland, maidens will increase from $20,500 to $22,000, while non-maiden races will increase by the same amount to $20,000. Support races conducted on feature meeting days in the region will also be run for $30,000, up from $25,000. Across the state, more than 100 country TAB races will receive a $2,000 uplift, rising to $14,000. “With almost 40,000 participants across the state, it’s imperative that we provide them with the ongoing support – and confidence – to continue to work and invest within the Queensland racing industry,” Racing Queensland Chairman Steve Wilson AM said. “Having grown annual returns to a record-high of $271 million in FY21, a year-on-year increase of 22%, we continue to set aggressive targets for the benefit of the industry as a whole. “As part of the funding announcement, provincial, regional and country racing will be supported.” In addition to the grass roots prize money, $500,000 in black-type upgrades will be delivered with RQ set to unveil its Winter Carnival features next week. Chief Stipe
Arguably the Queensland State Government has been slower to the party than VIC and NSW. Investment Plan to grow Queensland racing Published Thursday, 29 July, 2021 at 09:00 AM Minister for Education, Minister for Industrial Relations and Minister for Racing The Honourable Grace Grace Jobs in Queensland’s racing are set to receive more support with Racing Queensland set to raise prize money across Thoroughbred, Greyhound, and Harness racing and increase funding for critical assets. Racing Minister Grace Grace today released Racing Queensland’s Investment Growth Plan, which outlines the investment of $28.9 million in funding over the next two years, made possible through the Palaszczuk Government’s Budget commitment of an anticipated $41.3 million to Queensland racing through the Point of Consumption Tax (POCT). “The Investment Plan will benefit almost 40,000 Queensland participants,” the Minister said. “It will be delivered through increased prize money from 1 September 2021, along with infrastructure grants and improved club funding and allow us to support more jobs as part of Queensland’s plan for economic recovery from COVID-19. An increase of $4 million in grassroots thoroughbred racing will see a rise of $2,000 for every maiden race at TAB meetings and a rise in minimum prize money to $8,500 for all non-TAB races. There is also an increase of $1.7 million in grassroots Greyhound prize money and nearly $1 million for Harness racing. The Plan also supports the infrastructure requirements of the industry, with $5 million across the next two years going towards replacing critical racing assets and a more than $3 million per annum increase for club operations. Racing Queensland Chairman Steve Wilson AM said the multi-million dollar investment supported the organisation’s strategic objective to ensure a more sustainable future for the industry. “It is important that we provide all participants with the confidence to continue to work and invest within the Queensland racing industry,” he said. “As a result, we are providing strategic funding for our three codes, with a strong emphasis on commercial competitiveness at the grass roots and making Queensland attractive for all participants. “We continue to drive our substantial industry to grow across the whole state to our goal of connecting Queenslanders through great racing and events. Prior to COVID, racing was the number one community event in 62 towns and cities across the Sunshine State.” Racing Queensland CEO Brendan Parnell said the investments were being staged across two financial years, having experienced revenue pressures due to the conclusion of the Queensland TAB minimum payment guarantee last December. “We want to give Queensland participants the confidence to invest longer term in our racing and breeding industries as we strive to be more competitive with other jurisdictions,” he said. NZ has the excuse of incompetent administrators, boards who know absolutely nothing about racing and underperforming big clubs sucking the industry dry financially but what is Queensland's problem? Reefton, where do I start? There's been a succession of racing ministers here with no clue, nada, zilch, the admin at Racing Queensland is abysmal, BRC not much better, look at the Eagle Farm fiasco, when a deputation of trainers have to shirtfront management, all the indicators are there. QTAB holds are terrible, so the POC tax is the only thing holding it all together, the promises of GOV grants have been gong on for ever and a day......Labour has been in power for almost 30 years except for one term. Grace Grace is completely out of her depth, I bet she hasn't got a TAB account, the figures the GOV bleat don't add up, I'd love BDL to get hold of the figures, yes we are better off than you, but not by much, staying races are almost non-existent, if you look at the scratchings race morning, fields can be decimated, and it' doesn't take rain to do that. Cameron Partington as head of the QLD ATA is very proactive, but he's also a jockey agent? Having said that, Richard Calendar the NSW ATA head, is a self confessed fraudster, [remember the Waller/owners deception] but back to QLD, there are so many agendas on the table here it's mind blowing.....blame shifting is a state sport, cue the QLD integrity commission inquiry. On a personal note, we laid a complaint with the FED Police, it involved a massive cover up, it involved a bio-security breach, it was shut down, it cost us more than sixty five thousand dollars, it needed an official in-depth investigation, being QLD we heard from the vet, nothing from the stewards, nothing from the Police or Government......it was at the start of the winter Carnival, it would have meant a close down for a week at least, nothing happened......I offered to give evidence in exchange for a subpoena ......as it would have cost certain people their business and compromised their professional integrity........we have questions that involve NZ MAF, and I reiterate, we are very happy to stand before an inquiry/commission and offer under oath all the info we have on record, will it happen, not under this Government, nor yours I would imagine, our only hope is our local member who is in opposition and the shadow racing minister, and/or if indeed this current commission is interested in our story......should we wear bullet proof vests , could well be!!!
Joe Bloggs
May I add, the GM Racing BRC , is none other than Matt Rudolph, who was disqualified by our leading racing body ATC and yet is employed by the BRC.......that tells you a lot. POC tax, the messiah, the salvation, the QLD TAB pools are sometimes lower than yours, thank F for the corporate bookmakers........the only positive is they are distributing the 'windfall' to raise stakes....a tiny wee bit, across the border they are going gangbusters........this Gov will implode should the integrity commission broaden it's powers and scope.
