As to the Telfer team. Yes,they are doing a great job as far as success on the track goes. However i see your the only one who bothered to reply to my recent post as regards that stable.Stats like that speak for themselves.Amazing that some people on here just ignore stuff like that and ramble on about their success instead. Not ignoring anything mate. Credit where credit is due. 4 wins tonight proves the stable has arrived as a force with the New Brighton Cup quinella at Addington and the rest. That's well worth rambling about rather than the tragedy of losing stock to medical conditions. No one replied (except PalefaceA saying it's Not Snakes killing them (very true being Nz lol )) Because how the hell do we / anyone at all know What's going on?. Bad Luck is one answer. I'm sure Amanda and Steve would like the answer too, so they could remedy it. Back on topic.....Did you enjoy the Carter Dalgety drive when he was taking on Nat tonight ? Big win from the outside barrier and his poise when attacked himself was magnificent.
Blackie
“Self Assured a Big Auckland Cup winner last start, and to me almost certain to win the NZ cup off the front with no Handicap.” Gamma, is this a copy & paste from last year?😎 Be nice to see some Aussies come for it, love that they always have a go and put their horse in the race, certainly wouldn’t be any 31 quarters allowed. Two realistic chances if they are at their best with Lochinvar Art & Majestic Cruiser, though Addington does find out who the best stayers are.

Yes All Stars team grow a leg when the money is up but I think the gap has closed and Dunns and Telfer stable showing up to the races with some quality animals. Cup Day is going to be a cracker this year.

I think at this stage he is a thinker who has all the skills to make a real impact as a freelance driver in years to come. I don't know him from a bar of soap, but from what i see on trackside. Dalgety has an excellent ability to judge pace. Our best two drivers, blair orange and john dunn are exceptional at that.keeping your horse in its comfort zone while using it up is a difficult skill to master. Dalgety appears to have the ideal mindset. He is about controlled aggression and driving to maximise the horses ability. Blair orange is our best at that. Horses respond to that by giving their best. Horses know when they have a driver where they are expected to put in,and they know when they have a driver who they know they can bludge a bit if they are that way inclined. Maintaining that mindset is not easy and is why drivers in my opinion go through slumps in form sometimes. He is very fortunate to have the right opportunity. He has access to driving the horses from the stables with the better chances. In this case his parents and the likes of bob butt. He doesn't knock them around when beaten. Horses back up when driven like that and it shows kindness which i think horses appreciate if they have given a 100%. They are far more likely to back up and respond next time if a driver has that skill. There are other talents a top driver has to have but they are some of the main ones that dalgety appears he may have.. The only negative i can see in what brodie has said, is we are currently not seeing him get a lot of drives. You just can't judge someone based solely on how they drive when they are driving the best horses. They have to prove they can get the best results out of the normal racehorses. That may only be a 3rd in a methven non win race when the horse he is driving is only the 6th best on ability. So while he looks a talent,i don't think we should overstate his skills just yet.

I am not overstating Carter’s skill level! He is by far our best Junior driver at the moment and definitely the best we have had for a long time. Trainers will be using him more and more as he has got what it takes in the top 2 inches! The fact that he has been around horses so early and been around Dexter and other good drivers it is not hard to understand why he is going to be one of our very best. Brodie is on the money Edited September 10, 2022 by Brodie

Brodie is on the money Well he is certainly ticking all the right boxes. And Another young fella who spent 2 years at Dalgety's in his teens is another fine driver too. JACK TRAINOR won about 20 races for Cran before shifting to NSW , where he is driving great guns alongside the other 20 somethings drivers Hart, Callaghan and Gallagher . they win heaps. Jack Trainor (just like Carter) gained invaluable experience/tips/knowledge having rubbed shoulders with Dexter for those early years. He's doing fantastically well. Actually might win the first at Menangle in a few minutes. might have something on it.

Did win the first race ok with Blue Chip Delight , and just now drove the winner and trained the Quinella of the Group 3 mares race. Couple of mares you guys would all know too? , who plodded around with average results in South Island. Braeview Kelly and Town Echo. in 1.50.9 blazing along !! $20 quinella too ! very nice. 4 wins out of 5 starts for Braeview Kelly now since joining Trainor. She only had one or 2 wins in Nz in the past year (same as Town Echo) so this young Trainer 'Trainor' lol is something else...
Honestjohn
It's easy to be good when you have the best horses from the sales. I rated dd early on. Hj
