The Victoria Cup , Derby, and Oaks night at Melton is being broadcast live on tele racing. com . Very rare indeed. we get 365 days of 24 hour gallops . and about 2 nights of trots per year broadcast free to air .

So far the top lady drivers have won the 3 broadcast races . Kate Gath 2 and Kerryn Manning 1.

Kate won with PULL THE OTHER LEG already who had his 4th win from 6 starts since popping over from Cambridge in Winter. ARGYLE trained by kiwi Ray Green ran 2nd for a nice $34 quinella for the kiwis !

former South islander HARRY STAMPER galloped when looking likely in the 2 year old trot feature unfortunately.

big races still to come , and the FFA has MAJOR JELLIS for some kiwi owners and Tango Tara about to go.

Well the 2 kiwi trained horses were 6th Major Perry (Scott Phelan + Barry) and 8th Simply Sam for Ray Green, in the Derby.

The last NZ Cup winner COPY THAT was 4th in the Victoria Cup for Ray Green, after trailing along 3 back the fence. The winner ROCK N ROLL DOO (sat parked out and left the ear-plugs in he won so easy😯 ) incredible !! ............And is all set to tackle the NZ Cup next month. what a challenge !!  this is gunna be great !!.

Look out Marky boy !

And to complete an exciting night as ace driver Kate Gath takes the Vic Oaks. Encipher winning. Kate is totally amazing , she is actually going to run the New York Marathon next month. (she literally goes for one hour 'runs' between drives at some country meetings during the week  )

Marky Boy would be proud of Nathan Purdon too. Another Oaks placing for AMORE VITA running 3rd for her Nz owners and ex-pat trainer . a good effort.

My mate is a part owner of a real exciting young fella, he's Rock N Roll Doo's half bro by Art Major.........he won with a leg in the air at Albion Park a few weeks ago, Borella, put him in your black book, he's a star in the making, out in the paddock now, aiming for the majors later in the summer......trainer, none other than one A Butt. My mate also is in It's Me, he's got the Midas touch, some people are just plain blessed.

Copy That couldn't win the Cup on last night's effort Gamma? Very weak run. Dream run and only battled in straight. The horse does not look like it is enjoying racing, perhaps carrying an injury or tired from a busy campaign last season. it will be interesting to see the excuses. Ray Green has plenty of them and seldom is he to blame. No show in NZ Cup

Could be some hope in the Cup?. Ray Green would of been very 'easy' on him , after that little health issue of blood in the nostril and was just a head from 3rd horse in Vic Cup. (winner way too good for everyone in that)

Ray has prepared him to win the Cup already (last year) so knows how to do it. not many do. so that gives him plenty of kudos/respect to do the job again possibly . He prepared American Dealer to win the QLD Derby here over Krug  so is impressive trainer from what I have seen. Set the KING OF SWING (best in the land)  on his road to glory as well prior as well.

If ROCK N ROLL DOO steps clean in the Nz Cup next month, he wins it. That Vic Cup win was ultra impressive , and the horse is well , and enjoying it , and flying at the moment.

Whatever or whoever you think will win it, they still have be driven good. Addington has found a few Aussie's out in the ensueing years, and have found wanting that last couple of hundred metres. Kerryn Manning brilliant with the step and run , much like Lightening Blue(2 winners in 35 years), so if he can get to the lead without working too hard, RnRD must be hard. He'll have the rest of the field driving against him, they'll all want to move in front of him I'm guessing. Hope he settles in okay, makes for an interesting Cup.

That would make 3 winners in 39 years...was a very close thing  though by the picture below😀. That was an exciting Cup, was'nt it? Just kept pulling more and getting further in front, then the owner had a heart attack in the birdcage I recall?

Great photo Blackie . Has actually captured 3 NZ Cup winners in it. !!!

The year 'before' Steel Jaw here, and the year 'after' winners there many lengths behind !!!
