Interdominion Victoria

Best of luck to Tony and Suzanne and other owners,  with their great little trotter BOLT FOR BRILLIANCE tonight at Ballarat.

The only Nz trained runner having a crack this year in the time-honoured Best Race there Is. Interdominion Grand Finals.

Times are tough , covid rife, travel costs high , so Not the turn-out you would like for the great series over the next 2 weeks.

A few NZ owned runners having a crack. Maybe John and Robert Dunn can take Victory in the Pacers section with the lovely old warrior horse ALTA ORLANDO that they have had great success with at the Luke McCarthy barn for 2 or 3 seasons now. Wouldn't that be something ?  Com'on Bolt and Orlando !!!! 🏆

The BOLT has 'Bolt'ed In and looks set to clean-sweep the series with No Muscle Mountain around to knock him off. A great start for NZ at the Interdominion !!

A G Whitesocks (3rd )in his heat , and Alta Orlando (4th) for their Nz owners .

The all Powerful Emma Stewart Stable Won 2 of the pacers heats and were 2nd in the other. They are going to be strong on their home tracks.

Young Jason Grimson went well . After winning the GrandFinal last year at Menangle , he knows how to get horses through the gruelling 2 weeks of 4 starts. MAJESTIC CRUISER (3rd tonight) and former Nzer I CAST NO SHADOW (4th) are going to be strong contenders with Cam Hart driving.

Hope you are all thrilled for Tony Herlihy and see the familiar Black and white 'AGH' and Nz colours with BFB , trot to Victory in a couple of weeks.😊🏆

Round 2 Tonight at Shepparton nearly set to go......

One Trainer you mightn't of heard of , has a Very Strong Hand in both the trotters and Pacers Interdominion series.

Trainer JESS TUBBS has the brilliantly performed first round winners BETTER ECLIPSE in the pacers R7 and JUST BELIEVE in the trotters R8 . Her partner a very good driver Greg Sugars drives and from the Beautiful draws over the short trip heats tonight look sure to Win .

BOLT FOR BRILLIANCE has easy heat. we even threw in 'Old Bob' again for him to beat in his heat tonight who is 82 years old and horse is 100-1 and not won this year. Not really a threat ?? lol.....😆

Round 3 Geelong tonight,  and The BOLT of Brilliance went very nicely for young Josh Dickie and the Nz fans.

Finished alongside the Winner JUST BELIEVE (who won all 3 of his heats) so into the Grand Final they go next week as the 2 Best Chances . seem miles better than the rest. Queen Elida maybe third best.

Jess Tubbs and Greg Sugars have another trotter in tonight's Heats as well. Owned in New Zealand I think.

And drawn 1. ONE OVER ALL . should go very close with Jess and Greg in hot form. and a delicious 9-1 as well lol...

Just Believe has had great luck with the draw so far. The horse must be due to draw the outside of the second line?

'Sleepee' has One GIANT obstacle to overcome. His Trainer is driving Queen Elida.

A family member is the Leesee of 'Sleepee'. I would tell Chris to take a running jump if it was me lol... trying to beat your own stable horse 😂. what is the world coming too?.

Doesn't Mrs Alford train Sleepee? The draw is important at most Australian tracks. Sleepee is better drawn than Queen Elida.

Yes a lot of these drivers put the Training Licence in the Wife or partners name , for this very reason. They might get a better drive time to time than their Own Stable runner. Chris Alford using wife Alison's name, Greg Sugars uses partner Jess Tubbs name. Luke McCarthy uses the Mrs name as well (in Belinda.) Pete McMullen drives against his Own horses sometimes in QLD by putting them in his wife Chantal Turpin's name.  I Don't Like It One little Bit.

I'll slap Grant (Dixon) in the face if he suddenly put his team in Trista's name to take outside drives against her 🤣.

Surely they must have some pride in preparing the runners ? The owners must Hate It. At least in Nz they're more honest about who is working the team and 'Proud' To go on the Licence and drive their OWN STABLE's horses.

Wow, I didn't realise that about Aussie harness. I agree it is piss poor.

Gamma, what is this Duggan fellow like as a driver? Obviously, he won't be as good as Chris Alford, who is?, but he has he better draw to work with.

Go Sleepee

Josh Duggan , age 30 , about 600 wins, Zero Group 1 wins .

Spose you can't blame Chris Alford for taking the Queen Elida drive . Sleepee Hasn't won since Winter last year in 12 starts. Meanwhile in that same time-frame,  Chris has steered the 'QUEEN' to 14 wins from 18 starts. !! very Impressive . and 3 placings too. The other race she ran 2nd in a Group 3 FFA to 'Mufasa Metro' (the main danger tomorrow???) when driven by the great Anthony Butt. Chris drove his own horse 'Woblee' on that occasion and was well beat.

Best of luck to Nz owners Barron family and McKenzie family for the Queen to get the Interdominion title .🏆.

Well the QUEEN ELIDA trots into 3rd for the Nz connections but the good news is the Winner JUST BELIEVE has a great large group of owners who can all share the glory . And Just Believe did win all 3 of his heats including defeating the series favourite Bolt For Brilliance so great to see him get the Win , with the Bolt sadly unable to get to the Final with the injury.

Well done Greg Sugars on a super drive to sit outside an idling pacemaker and judge it well to run it down late.

I backed Sleepee and I Cast No Shadow so I am happy Gamma.

I didn't see the races, will watch later, but Just Believe to win from that drawer, good on him. As you say he won all his heats so it was a deserved win.

Jason Crimson and young Cameron Hart are a great team, it won't be the last Interdominon final they will win.

wow great win was that horse the very average horse running around in kiwi land ? was it owned by whitebait Dalys brother?

8 wins from 33 starts in Nz from 2018 to mid 2020 in Nz for I Cast No Shadow. So not too shabby. Whoever had it there got all the groundwork done ok.

Thought the writing was on the wall and had even had something on it , when the 'Shadow' won the Group 1 LenSmith mile (beating one of the favs from last night HonaluaBay ) in a sizzling 1.48.8. in October. That is flying in my book.

Now owned by 'grandma' Diane Reilly on her own. Been racing horses for 60 years and finally cracked the Big race.

Pretty sure it was trained by Graham and Paul Court.

Did go some really good races in NZ, Paleface.

To be fair most horses that can win 8 races in NZ and arent past their best are going to be winning races in Oz.

It always had plenty of speed so sitting in the trail doing nothing was always going to be very tough!

On the money mate. That's why I backed it because of the draw, top trainer and driver and paying $14! Easy money.

The Court's don't knock their horses around so horses sold from the stable can usually be improved by an astute trainer. Jason Grimson is definitely astute.
