Newmarket
What happened a few days ago was terrible, thoughts are with family and friends. But we have to ask, why are we having so many female jockeys dying on the track. Not just in NZ, but in Aussie as well. Better rider training? better safety gear? Or what else. Somebody needs to look into this quick, been going on far too long
billy connolly
Wrong place at wrong time, 500kg of horse against 50kg of jockey. Unlucky.

The issues are poor training of jockeys and horses, infrequent opportunities, poor race track surfaces, inconsistent policing of racing infringements, etc etc.

Somebody needs to look into this quick, been going on far too long I have been going to bring this up in the past, but thought better of it because woke feminists would go crazy. But my thoughts are females are just not as physically strong as males especially when it comes to falls. They are just as gifted as males when it comes to riding, but when things go wrong they are just not as strong biologically as males, and thats why I think females are on the wrong side of the stats.
Freda
Good points. Different weight distribution and build, too, must affect a landing.
Newmarket
The stats don’t lie, 80% of jockeys that have died in race falls in the last 10 years, have been female.
