Riders?

I'm not getting into a discussion about how average many of them are...but how will we manage going forward with the spate of suspensions dished out yesterday?

Would it not make more sense to give decent fines, knowing that there will be a rider shortage?   Already we are down two  [ Sam and Tina ] for some time, others have ongoing weight issues making them unavailable for more than half the fields anyway  [ Laking, Bothamley, Lowry ]  not to mention the fall sustained by Rohan Mudhoo [ not sure how long he will be out ] and as well I believe both Rohan and Krishna Mudhoo will be going home for a few weeks for Rohan's wedding.    Kwo, Fawcett, H Kamaruddin all sidelined, A. and J. Mudhoo too...it's gonna be interesting !

Ride poorly and you get suspended, I have no issue with  it, as you know I have been stating the skill of riders especially in the Sth Island is getting worse.

Maybe now that trainers are being affected with shortage of jockeys, they might band together and help improve the chimps out there  riding, good idea?

The only people trainers have any direct influence over are their own apprentices.   Most of the others are tradesmen over which we trainers have as much influence over as you do over the performance of the police, or the standard of plumbers.  Perhaps you can share your expertise with NZTR, it's bound to help.

Sadly, we have to make do with the jockeys we have. It is not really an attractive profession anymore. You can probably draw parallels with the NZ women's cricket team. They are not flash, but they are all we have.

I know nothing about riding horses, but I imagine it is something you either have a natural talent for or you don't. If someone can't judge pace and can't react quickly to changing circumstances they is probably unlikely in most cases to be able to learn those skills.

As an amateur observer I would have said that was an awful ride on the 3yo that won the Dyke on the weekend, but it won easily, so what do I know. It's a pretty inexact science.

Not sure they are that bad but just not fronting up, the shot selection this morning was horrible. T20 cricket make shot selection so bad, too much of a hurry from ball one, the top order should have 4 or 5 balls  to hit the ball straight in the middle of the bat to get a look before all that fancy stuff they are trying.

Sorry to be off topic but geez it was a hard watch.
