So a mate just received an email mail from riccarton for Cup Day for their group.  They book it every year.  This group is from all over nz.  The price is going up from $300.a head to $390. Food and booze.  They paid up for last year's disaster.  And got no refund or credit for this year.  The so called fillet steak last year was about an inch and half size.  Scraps of meat and a complete rip off.  And increasing by 25% .

they cancelled.  Tim mills is a clown and needs to go.

I know someone that says the club are selling tables on a brochure with colour planting howcit will look.  They are only just removing the roof of the stand.  5 months to do that work?  I can't see it.  They couldn't run a tap.

PS my group from last year didn't texts credit from last year's shamozle.

That's called progress.

Is the whole stand not being demolished now?  I thought they said it was unsafe.  Is that a cost saving measure?

He's too busy filming a demolition.  Mmmmm is that a metaphor?

Crying shame to be fair, the end of an era, cant help but feel quite sad about it, mind you the world we live these days only takes one person or one  incident to change the whole course of things, and to think the stand withstood a couple big shakes, maybe I'm just to sentimental and stuck in the past, watched many a grand national in the top tier, maybe free access to the members stand, or a raincoat on a winter's day for us peasants.

I feel sad too.  The top of that stand was a beaut vantage point.  The band used to play from the designated spot, and Queen Elizabeth II sat in the "Royal Box" which I think was designed for her specifically.  Then remember when the new stand was being built that stand housed everything including weighing room and jockeys' quarters underneath, birdcage directly out in front.

We live in a disposal society despite the cry to recycle.  Such a waste brought on by people who weren't even involved in the history of the place.

Yes everything seems to be a throw away, I think if every earthquake building was pulled down, there wouldn't be much left, I know riccarton won't be the same.

Lost it's identity.

Yes, that very much sums it up, you'd think it would almost be a heritage building, health and safety gone mad in the world today.

Note in that Twitter clip, the low cropped sole of grass that Mills has been oblivious to for close to 30 years.

Put another log on the fire, Millsey !
