    • Taller ladies need not apply for a date with Havana Grey in 2026 as Whitsbury Manor Stud has confirmed that the star stallion will continue to cover mares with a height restriction in place for next year. His fee remains private while Showcasing has been dropped by £5,000 to £30,000 and newbie Elite Status introduced at £8,000. Dragon Symbol and Sergei Prokofiev will operate at that same fee. Joe Callan, Head of Bloodstock and Sales at Whitsbury, commented, “Havana Grey will once again have his fee listed as private. This reflects the importance of carefully managing his book to mares 16.0hh or under — a strategy that proved highly effective last season, resulting in an impressive 90% fertility rate — benefitting both the stallion and our clients. “He has enjoyed another outstanding season on the track, siring 15 individual black-type two-year-olds — more than any other stallion standing worldwide — equating to an astounding near 25% black-type two-year-olds to runners. A truly remarkable achievement, especially considering they were conceived from his final £6,000 crop.” Callan added, “Showcasing will stand at £30,000. He now boasts 149 lifetime Stakes performers and added a second Group 1 Sussex Stakes winner to his record this year. His influence continues to grow as a broodmare sire, highlighted by Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Lake Victoria and Group 1 Nunthorpe runner-up Aint Nobody. Showcasing's yearlings in 2025 have sold for up to 240,000gns.  “Elite Status joins the roster for 2026 and will stand his first season at £8,000. A Group winner at both two and three, who was rated superior to both his sire and grandsire. Purchased by Karl & Kelly Burke for 325,000 gns as a yearling, he remains Havana Grey's highest-rated performer with an impressive RPR of 119. “Dragon Symbol will remain at £8,000 after covering full books of over 140 mares in both 2024 and 2025. His first foals head to the sales in the coming weeks and are keenly anticipated. Sergei Prokofiev, who looks set to be crowned Leading Second-Season Sire, will also stand at £8,000 following another excellent year headed by Group 1 winner Arizona Blaze and Harry's Half Million hero Song Of The Clyde.” The post Whitsbury To Keep Height Restriction For Havana Grey In 2026 – Fee Still Private appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions. • The 2025 Pat Smullen Race Day and the Curragh to Curragh Charity Cycle has officially raised €351,631 for Cancer Trials Ireland, bringing the total funds generated since the initiative began in 2022 to over €1.2 million.  This exceptional support has been instrumental in advancing life-saving cancer research and treatment development through Cancer Trials Ireland. The Pat Smullen Race Day at the Curragh Racecourse, now a much-anticipated highlight of the flat racing calendar, unites two major fundraising efforts in aid of Cancer Trials Ireland. The Pat Smullen Cancer Trials Ireland Charity Race, generously supported this year by Ballylinch Stud, featured 22 dedicated riders taking to the track in tribute to the legendary champion jockey and in memory of loved ones affected by cancer. Adding further energy and community spirit to the occasion, the Curragh to Curragh Charity Cycle, conceived by Gavin Lynch in memory of his late mother Olive, who passed away from pancreatic cancer, once again drew a phenomenal response.  Over 150 cyclists took part in the 100km route on Saturday, 30th August, supported by Paddy Power, visiting three racecourses and two stud farms before returning to the Curragh Racecourse for race day celebrations.  Funds raised have directly supported the establishment of the Pat Smullen Chair in Pancreatic Cancer at University College Dublin, held by Professor Gráinne O'Kane. This pioneering role aims to make Ireland a global leader in pancreatic cancer research and treatment.    Speaking at the presentation, Angela Clayton Lea, Chief Executive Officer of Cancer Trials Ireland, said, “It is a very exciting time for global researchers who are studying this disease, because we are developing new drugs that can really target the most common mutations in pancreatic cancer. In the next year, Prof Grainne O'Kane – who is the Pat Smullen Chair in Pancreatic Cancer in UCD – is set to open at least two clinical trials targeting specific mutations in the tumour to help provide a precision oncology approach.” In 2026, the Pat Smullen Race Day will take place on Saturday 29th August. • That is the key, squire. Few jockeys ride for luck on a favorite, especially in a Melbourne Cup. Kingston Town was a near champion who got beat cause the jockey mistook the clock tower for the 800 metre mark !  Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.
    • Yes very valid point, they certainly parted like the red sea, reminded me a bit of Damask Rose winning the big race in Auckland, had to be good and was, many jockeys left the rail wide open, they said it was a great ride, but left with little options from the back, never went around a horse.
    • Haha, i only meant i could get back todays money lost….
