    • William Buick had missed out on a future Classic prospect at Newmarket on Saturday, but his Newbury visit ultimately paid off as Words Of Truth (Lope De Vega) captured Saturday's feature G2 Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes. Coming off wins at Ascot and Newmarket, Godolphin's son of the dual Group winner Beyond Reason (Australia) looked well-beaten heading to the final furlong as the impressive debut winner Into The Sky (Starman) cut loose but stayed on best to collar that rival close home and prevail by a length. “He's gone from strength to strength and that was a tough performance from him on that ground,” Buick said. “It was an up-to-scratch renewal and he was very professional. He ticks a lot of boxes and should get seven.” Into The Sky's trainer Jim Boyle said, “We are utterly delighted with him–he's a big, raw weak horse still and he was a bit green and lonely in front and lugged left a bit. I think the winner will prove to be a decent horse and they've pulled a long way clear.” The post Lope De Vega’s Words Of Truth Takes The Mill Reef appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions. • Becoming the latest Pattern-race winner in the silks of Richard and Roisin Henry on Saturday, Catching The Moon (No Nay Never) came out on top in Ayr's G3 Firth of Clyde Stakes. Like the owners' 2022 Oh So Sharp winner Midnight Mile trained by Richard Fahey, the 15-2 shot who had opened her account at Beverley travelled smoothly for Oisin Orr throughout the six-furlong feature and outstayed Lam Yai (Lucky Vega) to prevail by a neck. “I travelled well and she probably didn't really enjoy the ground, but she got through it today. She's picked up and done it nicely,” Orr said of the granddaughter of the 2015 Pretty Polly heroine Diamondsandrubies (Fastnet Rock) who was in turn out of the owners' Moyglare Stud Stakes winner and multiple Group 1-placed Quarter Moon (Sadler's Wells). “On better ground you will see her run better. She's a lovely filly and she's very straightforward. She's one of the nicer fillies and it's great to be on her,” he added. • Aga Khan Studs representative Samangan shed maiden status with an impressive wide-margin triumph at Deauville towards the end of last month and continued on the upgrade with a black-type breakthrough in Saturday's G3 Prix Eclipse Fonds Europeen de l'Elevage at Chantilly. “He broke slowly and therefore put himself in trouble from the start,” reflected trainer Francis Graffard. “He was never really travelling smoothly and didn't look like a winner at halfway. Maybe the [soft] ground is the reason, but I don't know. When he started finding his best stride, the way he quickened was quite interesting and in the end it was a good performance. I will now put him away until next year, start over six again and see. At this stage I would not to be too keen to run him over further than six furlongs.” The 13-10 favourite was the slowest of eight into stride and raced in rear from the outset of this straight six-furlong contest. Easing forward into sixth at halfway, he was scrubbed along with a quarter-mile remaining and kept on relentlessly under whipless rousting inside the final furlong to deny Ceramic (Lope De Vega) by an ultimately comfortable half-length nearing the line.     Pedigree Notes Samangan, who becomes the eighth pattern-race winner for his sire, is the seventh of eight foals and one of three scorers out of a winning half to multiple Group 1-winning European champion Sarafina (Refuse To Bend), dual stakes-winning G1 Prix Saint-Alary runner-up Sanaya (Barathea), G3 Firebreak Stakes victor Sandagiyr (Dr Fong) and the multiple Group 3-placed Sanjida (Polish Precedent). Sarafina, in turn, is the dam of G3 Prix Messidor-winning sire Geniale (Deep Impact), G3 Prix d'Aumale victrix Savarin (Deep Impact) and G3 Radio Nikkei Sho third Go Timing (Deep Impact). The May-foaled bay is a half-brother to Prix Volterra victrix Simeen (Lope De Vega) and a weanling filly by Vadeni.   Saturday, Chantilly, France PRIX ECLIPSE – FONDS EUROPEEN DE L'ELEVAGE-G3, €73,200, Chantilly, 9-20, 2yo, 6fT, 1:09.72, sf. 1–SAMANGAN (IRE), 126, c, 2, by Blue Point (Ire)                 1st Dam: Samadrisa (Ire), by Oasis Dream (GB)                 2nd Dam: Sanariya (Ire), by Darshaan (GB)                 3rd Dam: Sanamia (Ire), by Top Ville (Ire) 1ST BLACK-TYPE WIN; 1ST GROUP WIN. • Saturday's flurry of TDN Rising Stars continued when Carlos and Yann Lerner trainee Evita (Persian King) made every yard of the running in Chantilly's Prix de Toutevoie to become the first Rising Star for her sire. Persian King, himself a Rising Star, joined the ranks at this venue in 2018. “For a long time we thought that this is a quality filly,” revealed Yann Lerner. “Looking at the first race it seemed that making up ground was difficult, so I told Christophe [Soumillon] not to hesitate because she is very straightforward and well mannered. Obviously we hope she will be a Classic prospect for next year and be back here with the beautiful days, but she will not run again this season. We won this race last year and the filly ran again on the all-weather. We won't make the same mistake.” In command after a sharp break, the 17-2 chance was allowed an inch of rein approaching the quarter-mile marker and was beyond recall soon after, extending clear of overmatched rivals to easily rout Dawn Eclipse (Wootton Bassett) by an impressive five lengths.       The post Evita Becomes First TDN Rising Star for Persian King at Chantilly appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
