  1. Looks like they are cutting down on Saturday work! Effectively they are now extending the time to when the fields are available!! Why not just have Acceptances and do away with Nominations altogether? Call it Entries.
  2. Meeting News Wednesday and Friday Meetings – New Closing Times Starting from September there will be new closing times for nominations and withdrawals: For race-meetings held on a Wednesday nominations will remain with a closing time of noon on the Friday prior, however withdrawals will now close on the Monday at 10am (previously Saturday). For race-meetings held on a Friday nominations will now be Monday at noon (previously Tuesday) with withdrawals closing on the Tuesday (previously Wednesday). The final Wednesday race meeting with Saturday withdrawals will be Matamata RC, Wednesday 4 September. After this meeting Wednesday race meetings will follow the new deadlines. The first Friday race meeting with new deadlines will be Matamata RC, Friday 13 September. Click to view the full schedule of closing times. There are no changes to meeting times held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. This has been decided after consultation with a number of Racing Clubs and the Trainers’ Association.
  3. Anyone else notice that the rail is out 9m till the home straight and then out 11m in the home straight. Good luck punters trying to work out which draws are favoured! Don't bet until Race 3!
  4. LOL @curious the 2000 Guineas closing time was 4pm and the 1000 Guineas closing time was 12pm. That would confuse most Trainers!
  5. Uh?! Your post takes the BOAY Abstruse Post Annual Prize - the BAPAP.
  6. Saturday week @Huey gives you a chance to dig for oil. I'll send some tips and advice on how to maximise your enjoyment. Or will you be watching the guns go round at Hastings?
  7. Still no noms. Maybe it is to give time for ENTAIN to set their books? Might be a few surprises.
  8. How many spoke back?
  9. Appears so. Slightly off-topic are there that many good reasons for having 24hrs between Nominations and Acceptances for the run of the mill weekly races? Why not go straight to Acceptance 24 hrs earlier than now. Another day of analysis and possible wagering for the punter.
  10. These seems so screwed up that it must have been planned.
  11. You have to prune roses to get a good crop. I would have thought the track would come first.
  12. They actually closed at 12pm not 4pm.
  13. Looking at the Karaka Million night (at the bottom of the list) wouldn't you have to adjust the $4.5m for sweepstake holder and ATR contributions?
  14. Ok Gotcha. If Kumara is at the top of the heap and not covering stakes then there is a lot of subsidisation going on elsewhere!!!
  15. What denominator do you use? I don't get the same % e.g. $176,000 divided by $1,903,756 = 9.2%. However if gross revenue is say 15% of turnover then net revenue may be covering stakes at some meetings e.g. Kumara.
  16. Are there any social media or news reports?
  17. Yes but they probably irrigated in anticipation of the Nor'westers coming. Yes but a shame that some still see ghosts from incidents a long time ago.
  18. So they do include Fixed Odds and Exotics (both fixed and tote)?
  19. Well you can take the historical average but that would just give you the same comparative ranking but a reality check. Although your turnover figures don't include fixed odds or exotics?
  20. It's Photographs pattern - jumps ok then gets lost for early speed. Done it in nearly all of its races. Watch its win first up over 1300m. Longer straight at Sandown helped. Wait till it gets further. Will run a good mile. Bred to do that. The best of Bluepoints progeny is a Group mile winner. What Future Odds are available for a fillies Guineas?
  21. I do to a point as long as they look professional. Why don't the men have branded blazers? Or have a standard colour scheme? However the bigger issue is the studio setup. I'm not a fan of the two presenters standing. Also "this horses grandmother was a NZ bred mare and the horse is raced by Harry horse breeders cousin" when trying to find a "Kiwi connection" in every OZZIE race wears a bit thin. But then they are trying to attract newbie armchair punters and fleece losing bets. Not sure how that works with most of the recent generation are all using smart phones and very rarely does the pub TAB have the sound on anymore!
