  1. Who does benefit? Going on the tenor of many of your posts on this Topic I guess you are saying Te Akau. But do they have that much influence on Stake distribution? The question is what is the process for deciding and who sits at the table. Surely that is a transparent process?
  2. That has been said for a long time but it doesn't make sense. The Pokie money goes straight to the RIB (what an unfortunate acronym!) and sports betting revenue goes to each sport that has a national association. That leaves export and import of racing. Is there that much profit from these revenue streams?
  3. Why they called him Elephant.

  5. Well the AWT hasn't worked in keeping numbers up has it?
  6. How are they going to make revenue on those races?
  7. Again I should have used the sarcasm font. Again a case for dropping the stakes on the Grp and Listed races and upping the lower grades.
  8. Drawn 17 at the Valley?
  9. David and Emma-Lee Browne are campaigning a few horses in OZ at the moment.
  10. Yep definitely think the rep wasn't up to it. You can see that in the inconsistencies in his pleading. However if I read the judgment correctly didn't he ask for that figure to be the all up cost i.e. including fine and expenses? Then why not standardise the penalties and fines. If we accept that for some reason it cost the RIU over $6,500 in expenses such an approach would save THEM money. I believe the final sum was way over the top given the mitigating circumstances: 40 years training without a similar charge; the administration was not intentional and a commercial feed source was identified; no evidence of raceday administration nor any evidence of intent to deceive for monetary gain; the quantum of the fine relative to the stakes on offer.
  11. Perhaps no one was fast working after all.
  12. You are being paranoid @Karrotsisback Are you sure the CCP hasn't hijacked the microwaves in your phone or home modem?
  13. I assure you I'm not a three year old after Christmas.....maybe on New Years Eve....
  14. Race 3 Horse 10 Absolute Dynamite $3.30 Place Race 9 Horse 3 Henry Hubert $1.50 Place Race 10 Horse 5 Westar Molly $4.00 Place
  15. Why would he risk damaging his superior punting aura?
  16. Yep and occasionally one will slip through that in a different environment does better. Although I'd get rid of the blinkers first!!
  17. Why would you? When you can wait one day, not travel as far and race for $15k instead of $12k. Or the other option being to roll dice and see if you could sneak into the two listed 3yr old races at Whanganui for $30k and $60k respectively.
  18. A quarter of that at most. FFS the RIU had $6,500 in expenses!!! Really? Against defendant's that admitted guilt? I wonder if the Boyle's got to see a breakdown of the RIU expenses? It would have cost the Boyles well north of $12k as they hired legal representation. Get your murphy blinds off @the galah no one on here has indicated they are anti the enforcement of the rules. The majority disagree with the penalty and the associated BS plus of course the exorbitant RIU and JCA fees. Do RIU staff get paid bonuses on how many tickets they write? Again I don't see anyone posting that is against the TCO2 rules even though it is a very inexact science and the fact that there is minimal evidence that high TCO2 does anything during a race. The irony of course being that as soon as you get your horse home and it shows symptoms of severe tying up due to lactic acid build up it is perfectly acceptable to tube the horse with bicarb to alleviate the symptoms. If you didn't you would arguably be up for an animal welfare charge.
  19. The key is how quickly you sack them or flick them on. In Gai Waterhouse's case it is how quickly you break them. The big OZ stables have 2 to 3 times the number of horses in work that Te Akau has. Chris Waller has 405 horses in work in NSW alone! I hear he spends most of the time outside Verry Elleegant's box!
  20. Kickbacks are illegal. As far as I know there isn't any "surcharge" on other fees. They only take those that they know are competitive in Metro OZ. You forget though that they race in Singapore with Mark Walker having 68 horses in the stable up there. However I would imagine that with the increasing disparity between NZ and OZ stakes that they would be seriously looking at setting up an operation in OZ. To do that at scale would be an upfront investment in the millions. Assuming of course that Jamie Richards would make the move. Isn't that the go with ALL of the big stables? Aren't most horses "ordinary". Jamie Richards has one of the top strike rates so on that basis you are getting value for money. If you look at last season for trainers that have had over 400 starts: Jamie Richards 790 Starts 36 Grp and Listed wins Strike rate 4.94 Stephen Marsh 969 Starts 10 Grp and Listed wins SR 10.53 Pitman 505, 2, 8.71 Baker/Forsman 444, 7, 8.71 Myers 416, 2, 8.16 Latta 488, 0, 13.56 Rogerson 632, 5, 19.15 What does Rogie charge? Mind you he will always tell you that you have a top horse!
  21. Yes but we know nothing about pre-existing conditions. Also there have been 37,000 close contacts but so far only 700 infections.
  22. 70 employees on $22 an hour. No overtime. That's a wage bill of $3.2m per year.
  23. Yep that was one of my points. $12k grab to the RIB from a couple of old trainers with unblemished records with a horse running third in a low stakes race and they had the same bet on as they had the previous starts. Probably not much more than $20 E/W. But suck the old lemon the punting public was watching and you have to maintain the utmost integrity. Meanwhile the BGP get their losing bets refunded.
