Really? Go play Tiddly Winks.

What because he said to a Jockey "why the fuck did you not follow instructions..." Home goal by the stipes if you ask me. For a start it has idiots like you ranting about nothing. Mummy should let you out more.

Again you don't understand the law. Recording a conversation in a public place is not illegal nor is publishing it. Even less so if 123 knew that the conversation was being recorded.

As opposed to your approach where you want to blame someone?

Who cares? So Heathcote swore at the Jockey? I've known a trainer tear a Jockey a new arsehole in the birdcage after he didn't follow instructions and did the complete opposite. Probably costing a Grp win, a lower residual value and a shyte load of winnings for the owners on the punt. Geez racing isn't tiddly winks! Given your obvious aversion to anything racing you should go and waste you time pontificating about something other than racing. Seems you are a bit soft and precious.

Cost vs risk vs human life. Ban driving. How many times has a horse jumped the fence into the public viewing area in decades of horse racing let alone seriously injured someone? But they are not going to save 100% of lives during a major earthquake only minimise casualties relative to the risk assessment and probability of a certain level of earthquake. FFS if they were serious about saving lives they'd move Wellington somewhere else and off a fault line. More bullshit. Plus a complete lack of awareness about what a panicked horse will do. The horse is displaying a flight response - their natural instinct, especially after training, is to avoid humans not target them! Bollocks again. Yes it is a leased property but that doesn't excuse either the owner nor the lessee from fulfilling H & S or any other statutory obligation. With regard to having a "horse proof fence" - what the hell is one? You're an absolute idiot Thomas. Twitter deserves you.

You are so full of shyte and obviously have only one objective and that is to end racing fullstop.
-
Well you don't need to leave a gate open do you? I've seen a horse stick his arse into the hinge end of a gate and lift it off. Fixed that then he opened the latch with his mouth. Jumped clean over a fence to get into a paddock.

Yep the NON Rolls Royce system works really well - NOT! Trainer Robert Heathcote. Pic: AAP. STEWARDS Group 1 trainer to fight misconduct charge over verbal spray at jockey Article Author Ben Dorries 2:46PM23 February 2021 Multiple Group 1 winning trainer Rob Heathcote will engage a high-powered legal firm to launch an appeal after being found guilty of a misconduct charge which he insists arose out of a private post-race conversation with a jockey. Heathcote does not deny saying “f... you’ to Mark Du Plessis in a heated debrief at Eagle Farm when the trainer claimed Du Plessis did not follow instructions to lead when Stuttering finished third as the $3.40 second favourite in a race on February 6. But Heathcote is adamant no-one else on course heard his remarks which the trainer taped on his phone and sent to Stuttering’s owners. Brisbane stewards only became aware of the matter when the 49-second audio clip of the exchange was circulated on social media. Stewards last Saturday convened an inquiry and found Heathcote guilty of a misconduct charge stating he “did misconduct himself after the running of Race 9 by way of inappropriate language directed to jockey M Du Plessis.” Heathcote was fined $500, half of which was suspended, after being found guilty of the charge which falls under the category of conduct detrimental to the interests of racing. It could become an interesting test case for the racing industry with Heathcote to lodge an appeal. He is determined to fight the matter on principal. “I said ‘f you Mark.” Never at any other time did I swear,” Heathcote told Racenet. “No-one was around me and I only recorded it for my owners. “No-one except me and the jockey heard what I said at the time. “It was just me and the jockey, the jockey hasn’t made a complaint. “I said what I said on the day for the benefit of my owners so they could hear my response to the jockey and the jockey’s response to me. “It was a private thing between me and the jockey. “One of the owners posted it on social media and the stewards came up to me two weeks later.” Mark Du Plessis. Pic: AAP. Heathcote, who has won 11 Group 1s including seven with the champion Queensland sprinter Buffering, is engaging legal eagles to fight the matter. He says he couldn’t care about being $250 out of pocket but wants to clear his name and says he should never have been charged over what he says was a private communication. “An appeal is going to be lodged and I’m going to be represented by a law firm because there is no way I should have been charged,” Heathcote said. “It was a private thing between myself and the jockey. “Jockeys make mistakes – am I not entitled to point that mistake out to him? “I’m taking this on – it’s not the money, I couldn’t care about the $250, it’s the principle.” The vast majority of Australian trainers send post-race audio or video reports to owners, usually featuring an interview with the jockey, and the point Heathcote case could raise the spectre about whether some trainers may ask owners to sign nondisclosure agreements to receive post-race information. The stewards’ report regarding the Heathcote inquiry initially indicated Heathcote had pleaded guilty to the charge - but Heathcote insists he didn’t. He contacted stewards and the wording of the stewards’ report has now been changed. Brisbane stewards are also understood to be investigating another local trainer after his remarks about a jockey on a post-race audio were sent to owners and circulated on social media.K

You've never trained jumpers?
-
No comments at all. Certainly not unequivocal statements by any of these trainers. As I've said before blinkers are often used as a throw of the dice rather than any solid theory.
-
Obviously it didn't happen before either.

Liberty costs. I'm not sure who "his mate" is. Can you enlighten us? So you want to legislate manners now? As for free speech you have said it yourself you can't write what you write on BOAY on Twitter. Go figure!

Happens on our roads every day. It comes down to risk vs cost. Sure the people who are directly impacted feel aggrieved but how far do you go? Let's look at a specific example. Riccarton Racecourse - situated in a highly populated area. Do you put a deer fence around the whole area? I've owned two horses that have "escaped". One at Waterlea and the other at Woodville. One a Standardbred the other a Thoroughbred. The harness horse was a houdini. He would undo latches with his tongue, lift gates off their hinges with his arse - do anything to go for a wander. We had to make up special locks which we carried with us wherever he went to stop the gate lifting and latch undoing. Escaped one night at Waterlea wandered the whole course looking for female company. Found eating grass and tied to a fence. Next day bolted in. The Thoroughbred was a mare. Won at Woodville, put in her stall, somehow pushed the door open and decided to go for a wander out of the stables and down the main road. Someone saw it and returned her. BUT as my old man told me a horse is more likely to hurt itself avoiding hurting you.

I'm now convinced Thomarse that you want to see racing closed down. There is a considerable difference between sending out a 50kg Jockey on a 500kg animal in the dark on a poorly maintained track. Versus the likelihood of a horse being loose and deciding to jump a fence into the crowd at a race meeting. In all the years of racing that you have watched have you seen one instance of that happening? There have been more going in the opposite direction - i.e. drunken idiot running onto the track. You take the piss and raise all these H & S issues but NEVER provide any solutions.

I think we have lost our way somewhat. Is the new generation of trainer better than the previous? Interesting how the best still have a direct link to being stockmen. We are also chasing our tail instead of getting back to basics. All those horses were in the 1977 Great Easter on their merits. They could carry weight regardless of age or sex. The mares that competed in those races were tough and that carried through in their breeding. Why penalise the tough old gelding that helped to make our racing and breed the best? The don't need favours just fairness.
-
Excuse me for getting a bit off topic but that 1977 Easter Handicap - wow! Do we actually have an Easter Handicap at Easter now? Grey Way first carried 60.5kg. Behind him: Tudor Light, Kiwi Can, Vice Regal, Shifnal's Pride, Soliloquy, Patronise.

Or what about this race? Surely one of the best ever sprint line ups ever! Which horse wore blinkers? Any horses scared of going for the gap?
-
How many horses wore blinkers or any other head gear in this Cox Plate? Note: Under today's rules Gary Phillips would have been given 2 months off and a fine of about $60k for whip use.
