  1. You ignored the AND. The situation in the Middle East is a damn sight more stable than it has been for some time. What NEW military engagement did Trump initiate?
  2. In my opinion no. This might be pedantic but how does knowing anyone determine someone's personality? I assume you mean moral standing/character. I don't adhere to the theory of guilt by association as that would eliminate damn near all of us!
  3. Here is an interesting piece of data from the USA: Children dying from Influenza this year is 2.5 times greater than those who died from Covid19.
  4. Happy as a compromise why don't you pick five of the zillion statements you posted and I'll research their veracity. Even you may be surprised.
  5. Nothing but that's why I split the Topic - it was initially about Covid and Cup week but has digressed somewhat. The original topic was about the NZ Cup field.
  6. The Canterbury Jockey Club have said it. Refer the first post in this topic. The only children that can attend are those whose parents own a horse racing on the day or staff of Trainers. They have to pre-register to obtain the wrist band's you refer to. If I wanted to do as my dad did and take my child to the races I can't. Personally those days that he did - we used to go to the Trotting Cup as well - have and will remain as lasting memories. To be honest it is probably one of the few reasons I have left that keeps me passionate about the SPORT.
  7. 69 million American voters don't agree with you. 6 million more people voted Trump in 2020 than 2016.
  8. I didn't say that I set him as an "acceptable standard". BUT if you can say that if someone investigated every aspect of your life and didn't find something that others would deem unacceptable BY THEIR STANDARDS then you are a better person than I am. Why shut up shop? Depending on what moral position you point the finger from we are ALL flawed.
  9. I hid your long post. It is obviously copied from somewhere else. To save people having to scroll through a lot of stuff, that could be disputed, in the future just post a link. You could have posted a summary in answer to my question which I don't think you answered. Also have you investigated every one of those statements you have posted? You will find that a very large proportion of them are not correct. I know this from experience having seen the same sort of stuff and made an effort to look further.
  10. No not at all. I'm just realistic and honest. Tell me what has Trump done that makes him so despicable in your eyes compared to Biden?
  11. No I don't. But when you understand what motivates him you start to have a different understanding of why he does what he does. There is a contradiction in your statement. How can you not worry about the balance sheet and expect sustainability to happen? For the first time in USA Presidential history we have had a President who didn't start a new war AND withdrew troops from other parts of the world. Not only that but brokered peace deals in the Middle East!
  12. Why? Isn't he just as flawed as the rest of us?
  13. For once I agree with you 100% (normally only around 73.5%)! I used to be anti-Trump up until about 4 months ago. I thought he was an idiot. But I was posting on another forum (primarily a sailing one but with political sub-forums) and got hammered by some rabid radical lefties over a comment I made about the availability of Covid-19 PPE in the USA. They were blaming Trump for everything and all I said was that the previous administration had not replenished stocks from the Swine flu pandemic of 2009. I got quoted links to newspaper articles saying I was wrong and I was just a KKK gun toting granny killer - I'm not joking! So I delved deeper into that particular issue right back to the Government and Department budgets and there it was the hole that hadn't been filled by Obama or Trump. I presented those facts in an informed relatively bipartisan way and was immediately banned from the forum, my whole account and every post I had made previously deleted! From that point on I started reading more USA news sites other than CNN. I started delving into the Covid-19 detail behind the alarmist headlines - sometimes you had to drill down 3 or 4 levels to get to the actual research that had been distilled into an alarmist doom and gloom headline and narrative. 99% of the time the research was either flawed, not peer reviewed and all misrepresented in the news. Then more recently I read a good article detailing what motivates Donald Trump. He is your consummate Patriot - he is entirely USA focussed. He doesn't care about global politics, the UN or WHO. So for example his approach to trade is old school protectionism - he doesn't care about market efficiency all he wants is American manufacturers increasing production. He achieved that in spades. His view on war is - if other countries want the USA to help them then they must pay their fair share of the bill and why should the USA fight a war that is of no value to fortress USA. Now what really cemented my shift towards Trump was Biden. The guy is nothing more than a corpse that spouts feel good speeches. I'm starting to think that they have developed a miniaturised mobile life support system for the guy. With regard to Biden he reminds me of Ardern. Sounds good, talks about being kind but their speeches are full of marketing sound bites. There is no substance to their utterances. The irony is that Trump has done more for the blue collar working class and minority groups in America in 4 years than Obama did in 8. Same with Arden - the epitome of the chardonnay socialist talks the talk regarding the poor but in 3 years has done nothing for them other than increase the numbers. The same will happen with Biden. But what we will see in less than a years time is that Covid-19 will become just another virus and as dangerous as influenza. Biden will have done nothing but will be touted as having saved the western world and beat the cursed plague! The fact is never he nor Arden can alter the course of the pandemic. But sadly too many people think that a President or Prime Minister is either God or the Devil reincarnate and can fix everything for them. What ever happened to individual responsibility? Or even making your own child's school lunches instead of the State?
  14. Just imagine all the money they could have spent on the Awapuni track instead of the empty huge grandstand and hospitality areas? Cart before the horse stuff.
  15. Yes I think that is the biggest difference between OZ and NZ. OZ promote the sport we promote the party. The latter you can have anywhere.
  16. But are children allowed Melbourne Cup Day?
  17. Obviously the BGP are not restricted. The put $48k to win on Surprise Baby in the Melbourne Cup. I guess the chap in Bishopdale who won $1.1m with a $30 first 4 is now restricted? I thought there was a limit to how much you could win in day?
  18. What do you get for your $40?
  19. FFS I'm not helping any one out a hole. I was just posting my assessment! FFS can't I post on my own forum? This Brodie must be a handsome man given how you and Mehe are so infatuated with him!
  20. Rule Number(s): 638(1)(d)Mr Davidson alleged that in Race 8 Mr Lowry permitted his mount LORD ZACFORD to shift inwards dictating MISS CURIOUS inwards onto DOUGH BOY which was checked near the 1300 metres. 22. If it is 270 to 268 then the next key date is when the Electoral College meets on 14 December. January 20 is when inauguration occurs.
  23. Biden hasn't actually won yet. He needs to either keep Nevada or flip PA, GA or NC. If he flips one of those three states THEN you can declare victory. If Trump keeps those states then he will be on 268 and it comes down to Nevada or postal votes in Arizona or a legal challenge Minnesota. Hardly a blue wave! The final result may well be Biden 270 to Trump 268. That said I'm not sure Biden will make it to inauguration as I'm not sure he is actually alive.
  24. Yes but the assumption is that putting an age restriction on makes it easier to police the consumption of alcohol. But there is no BYO! I daresay the number of drinks one can purchase is limited as well. If I'm a responsible parent and want to take my child to the event just like my father did I can't. I'm not sure it promotes the sport to a younger generation!
  25. Just researching past NZ Cup's! CWJ rode the NZ Cup winner Samasaan in 1985! That's 35 years ago!
