OK well that put the mockers on that horse. Will refrain from commenting further. So is that 6 to go for CWJ?

Two wins so far today and on the hot favourite in the next!

How do you know they haven't? Plus Riccarton wasn't a G3 on 3 October. How do you know they didn't complain? Anyway Avondale got caned as the meeting was abandoned after 5 races due to rain on the hard surface. Seems they have been ground hogging ever since. As for the 2yr old - a four horse race and an easy win which helps with Karaka Millions entry. Trainers don't have many choices and often don't get accurate track information.
-
I just eliminated him from my selections on the basis he hasn't beaten anything of note plus his best runs have been on a soft track. By Cup time the track should be a G3. Also has had hoof filler applied....which puts me off on a hard track. Arguably his best performance was in last years cup on a soft track.

Makes you wonder how mercenary or morally corrupt the breeding elite are.......will there be donations going the Labour party way? How do you spin a socialist leftie finance minister supporting the racing industry? Perhaps he will target pokies (reduce child poverty) and then use that to justify another benefit handout to the racing industry.
-
Just trying to think of a way round that. LOL now that would be an irony! Ellerslie racing at Avondale for 18 months!

Can she do it tomorrow? I don't think so as I just don't think she settles well enough to get 3200m but my heart is with her! I was just checking the stats and she averages $287, 000 in stakes per race! I watched her Caulfield Cup win and you can see her eye balling each horse as they straighten up - she looks left - yeah na got him - then right - yeah need to work a bit harder - got him - now where's the post? Her first appearance on BOAY and her maiden win at Ruakaka 12 August 2018 - 1200494502_20180812WHAN03_BB(1).mp4

I've been thinking about how you would install one without closing the course down for 18 months. The narrowness of the AWT's which are supposedly good enough for running races would suggest that you could do a Strathayr in two stages - sure the maximum field sizes would be reduced but could it be done? Let's face it the NZ Derby could do with a reduction in field size! I hate the kamikaze race to the first bend!
-
When and where was that announced? If it is the case it is good to see the Club doing it with their own funds rather than a Government benefit handout!

Flemington for tomorrow.

Shouldn't it be the norm? In my opinion it is good - the more information and data that is published the better it is.

I've always found Victoria University computer weather model to be quite accurate. http://metvuw.com/forecast/forecast.php?type=rain®ion=nzsi&noofdays=7 The prediction they have for the week is not much rain - most of it is coming directly from the West to Nor-West and that isn't where Christchurch gets its rain from. Normally most of it will fall on the Alps. There is some rain forecast from the south on Sunday. At this stage I'm picking a very warm and humid week with a slight chance of rain Friday. Too early to look into the following week. The following image typifies the week with Christchurch staying in the rain shadow.

MONDAY MORNING RICCARTON PARK UPDATE A penetrometer reading of 4.0 has the Riccarton Park going a Slow8 on Monday morning prior to the first day of the Christchurch Casino NZ Cup Meeting. Cool, dull, overcast conditions suit track preparation at this early stage of the week.

Rule Number(s): 869 (3)(b)Following the running of Race 7, the Magness Benrow Sires Stakes Champs (G1) 1609m, an information was filed by Senior Stipendiary Steward Mr Mulcay alleging Open Horseman Mr S Abernethy, breached Rule 869 (3)(b) when he drove TONI STREET carelessly shifting ground inward when insufficiently clear resulting ... On that note we may as well all pack up and go home.

Na he is just giving them the finger. Any word on his contempt sentencing?
-
So basically you agreeing that the results need to improve substantially if racing whatever the code is going to get more stakes distributed.
-
Sports turnover profit is distributed to Sports. Racing does not benefit.
-
Gross Betting Revenue is meaningless on its own. Net revenue and yield are the key metrics. We all hope that you are the only one focussed on Gross Turnover. As I've said before the detail escapes you. The result for September is at best neutral overall. The poor performer is NZ Domestic turnover which is the higher yield product. Higher sports turnover doesn't help racing.
