  1. The same club that until now raced at Te Rapa - didn't even have to maintain that track! What's more with the HUGE horse population needed a Government handout to build a new training track because their grass track was fucked. Why the hell couldn't they fund it themselves?
  2. Expert - tell me what does the club pay BACK to NZTR to hold the meeting?
  3. Fuck you really are starting to piss me off. Have you reviewed every annual return on the Incorporated Societies website for each of these clubs? I have. I can tell you that you are talking shyte. Go have a squiz! May I suggest you go back and your homework. Obviously you are a mouthpiece for someone because I'm assuming you are an intelligent person however what you are saying is not backed up by the facts.
  4. Oh and while you are reviewing the stats Tesio check out revenue generated per stakes paid. That is the bottom line. I'm waiting champ! Or do you work in Real Estate?
  5. Worse than who? I'll tell you better than WHO! Cambridge JC - they are the guys that just got the benefit donation of $10m to build a new track. Greymouth JC. Masterton Oamaru Reefton Riverton Rotorua-BOHP South Waikato Taupo Thames Waikouaiti Wairarapa Whakatane Woodville Now these clubs all got shit days and had to pay the same fees BACK to NZTR for the over priced broadcasting arrangement. So I think the 40 years you have had in the industry has been with your head in the sand!
  6. Well you haven't shown that yet.
  7. Back up there sunshine! You haven't subtracted how much the club had to pay BACK for the privilege of racing. Go look at the figures and start again. What's more I can tell that you aren't your "average" owner but you are being fed the bullshit propaganda from NZTR.
  8. Hokitika or Westland Racing Club WAS and for that matter still is one of the longest racing clubs in NZ. It was founded in 1865! That is 155 years ago!
  9. Are you taking the piss or do you actually believe what you are posting? Do you have a horse racing with Pitty? The Westland Racing Club supported the industry for decades WITHOUT any support from the industry. They did it with local community support and nothing else. They WERE the industry. They should BE the industry. Obviously you have no understanding of history nor respect for it. Who decides what the stakes are? Not Hokitika! However you are happy to pitch up with your horse on a substandard track which is detrimental to the health of your horse because NZTR decides who has what stakes? Their decision has nothing to do with with what the races produce in terms of revenue. Are you a BGP member?
  10. YES. Not only that but Hawkes Bay have convinced them to hand over the dosh aka assets! Racing is no longer coming to a community near you.
  11. Anyway I'm looking for higher ground (a tree?) before next Wednesday. I fully expect a Civil Defence Alert on my phone when the Climate Emergency is declared.
  12. In reply to my own post...... 🤔 Why is a dairy cow considered to be carbon non-neutral when it eats grass grown by the sun and rain - shits fertiliser and produces milk, cheese, butter and meat. Plus reproduces to continue the cycle. Whereas James Shaw just consumes energy and produces.....
  13. Oh how things have changed and may I say definitely NOT for the better. In primary school I used to run the sweep for the Ali boxing matches - 20 cents a pick (I can't remember the takeout rate). Then we would get let off early to go home and watch on TV. There was some advantage to being educated by Irish nuns.
  14. No doubt there were some Uni Lecturers lurking on course as well! Where better to study horse anatomy and physiology in a practical sense. Even probability, statistics and biometrics.
  15. Yep. I have fond memories of sitting down on Boxing Day having gorged on left overs (hardly scraps!) from the previous day to watch the Derby from Ellerslie. First thing in the morning was to listen to the scratchings on the radio. Then nip down to the TAB to get all the yellow slips with out bets on. It became a tradition at home and I continued it wherever I was. They moved it in 2006 and it was downhill from there. But eh I'm just a pale white male living in the past - the BGP know better.
  16. Not one of these politicians from any party wants to address the real issue. The planet cannot sustain much more than 8 billion people.
  17. Until some animal rights anti-racing activist starts making complaints. Did you know the latest MPI protocol for killing live crabs or crayfish in a restaurant is to electrocute them?
  18. I used to rush to find a TV when it was the Bayer Classic. Nip out of lectures when at Uni or nip down to the pub if I was working.
  19. Don't get me started! If I do then it will probably drive people away from BOAY. But I will say this - I just listened to the new Minister of Foreign Affairs being interviewed (grilled) on Newstalk ZB.....give her 10 years and she might learn what is happening in the world and be able to do her job. I suggest a start would be an Atlas. Absolutely appalling given we are a trading nation....well once were...
  20. You miss the point. If you read section 19 that I posted above theoretically someone could complain that the hopples placed on most young horses cause the issue as described. Essentially, unless there are new methods, the hoppling of a young horse inevitably causes issues with broken skin and often resulting in bleeding or discharge. Here is what MPI can do about it: https://www.mpi.govt.nz/animals/animal-welfare/regulations/guide-to-the-animal-welfare-care-and-procedures-regulations/ What you need to do Most of the regulations are based on current practice or existing minimum standards in the codes of welfare, so if you're already doing it right you won't see a lot of change. But some people may need to: change their practices provide additional staff training make other changes to the way they care for their animals.
  21. Really? Then why don't they say that? We have seen numerous instances of where laws such as these have been abused in their application. It is a poorly written Act that is administered NOT by the racing codes but by MPI. I mean FFS did you read the section about how to kill a crayfish?
  22. FFS if you want a definition of clueless you just have to look at Day One of this lunatic Government. Move to higher ground we have a Climate Emergency!
