  4. If we take an average gross yield of 17% then we are talking about $270K extra for the month. That's gross NOT net so we could probably halve that again. Now that "extra" has to fund marketing by the codes! Yep brilliant strategy - cut costs by shifting them elsewhere but still within the industry......at the end of the day it doesn't mean any more revenue to those that provide the product let alone pay for the increase in operational tracks (e.g. AWT maintenance). I assume this means turnover from VIP punters? If so it is a nonsense statistic. For all we know those "special" VIP's might be net winners i.e. they pocket more than they turnover! Yep Flash another stunning financial analysis from you - yeah na!
  5. I would agree there. I have a number of dairy farmer friends and NONE of them have much respect for MPI. Did you know that 3,000 people are employed at MPI on $100,000 a year? One of those friends is a Whole Raw Milk retailer. The BS rules they have to follow! Anyway a major Raw Milk retailer in the Hawkes Bay got "raided" by MPI - flak jackets and all. They took all their office files and all the computers for forensic analysis on the premise that the retailer was breaching the rule whereby they had to sell directly to their customers - by directly MPI says the retailer actually has to hand the milk to the customer i.e. they can't use a depot, dispenser or another retailer (e.g. the local dairy) to hand the milk over. Anyway this particular dairy farmer refused to lie down. Hired a couple of top lawyers and settled out of court all in the dairy farmer's favour. Apparently the MPI's large legal team had misinterpreted the law. MPI are now interpreting the bacterial implications of egg on face!
  6. The manual says G3 not D4.
  7. Do you get paid for this propaganda? Detail is not one of your fortes is it JJ? The turnover is being driven by Sports betting and International racing. Domestic racing turnover is running a poor third. Now we know that the margin on International racing is poor and that Sports revenue doesn't go to racing. So it isnt that good is it? Especially when the return to those providing the product is LESS than last year. Gross Betting Turnover is NOT the key figure to focus on. The key figure is NET revenue and when you subtract the transfer of costs to the codes we are behind. Your answer to that JJ?
  8. I guess the bright side is if these results ARE good the TAB won't need another handout and are now trading solvent. However the figures don't add up to sustain the stakes promise. Is that your assessment Curious?
  9. Yes it was rhetorical - stupid? Well that's your opinion. Although it appears your opinion begins and ends at an evaluation of the question itself rather than the content of the Topic. These figures could be worse but to say they are good is a stretch when we need excellent figures. To be honest I have grown tired and extremely cynical of this type of performance reporting from the TAB. It only highlights that nothing has changed. Those that are in a position to elicit change are not and are happy to believe their own or this propaganda.
  10. Didn't expect anything less from a shit stirrer.
  11. Interesting too that there has been ZIP, ZERO, NADA from NZTR regarding financial information for over a year now.
  12. Am I just a negative bastard or do people actually buy into this spin?
  13. Again the devil is in the detail. The result saw the racing codes paid out $10.3 million, more than the budgeted figure of $9.4 million but less than the $11.5 million paid out for August. Don't forget some costs have been shifted to the codes e.g. code marketing. So where is the NZTR report showing what was actually paid out in stakes and what were their costs? We know that MORE stakes were paid out in September than August BUT the revenue from the TAB was LESS. Also the $800,000 spent on product development and Porirua TAB relocation is interesting. I thought the new TAB system provided all the products we needed? Interesting market demographic in Porirua!
  14. The TAB has had another strong month, returning a net profit for September of $14.9 million, with betting up on racing and sport. The figure is up $5.2 million on budget and is even better than the results for August where a $12.8 million profit was recorded. TAB NZ attracted total turnover of $210.7 million for the month, $34.4 million above budget and $25.9 million ahead of last year. Sports betting saw the biggest increase of $19 million, while international racing was up $11.4 million and domestic racing up $1.6 million. The total turnover on each was: * Overseas racing $82 million * Sport $68 million and * NZ racing $61 million. The result saw the racing codes paid out $10.3 million, more than the budgeted figure of $9.4 million but less than the $11.5 million paid out for August. The TAB’s operating expenses for the month were $9.5 million, $300,000 below budget and $2.2 million, or 19.2%, below last year. Its capital expenditure for the month was $800,000 which included product development and the relocation of its Porirua TAB site. The TAB’s year to date reported profit is $27.7 million, $7 million above budget and $6.9 million up on last year. Domestic starter and field size numbers continue to be particularly strong for both equine codes. Thoroughbred and harness starters were up 27% and 34% respectively on the same period last year, contributing to strong year-on-year domestic racing turnover growth of 21%. Large field sizes, particularly for thoroughbreds (12.3 v 9.8 last year), have also contributed to strong fixed odds margins that are higher than last year. The TAB recorded 99,100 active customers for the month. Its biggest sporting event was the Israel Adesanya v Paulo Costa fight which saw $682,000 bet and racing’s highlight was the Tarzino Trophy at Hastings which attracted $695,000.
  15. Generally we start out in nappies and depending on how long we live we end up back in them.

  22. I detect some sarcasm in that post if I'm not mistaken.....
  23. Why would you NOT allow them to gallop? You are allowed to on OZ tracks - quite a few horses have galloped on Flemington this week. Farnan for one. Basically a familiarisation exercise for the horse. Wouldn't it be a LOWER ACT to not allow? Or is that all about giving the local team an advantage? Of course you could confine the gallops to those horses entered for the Saturday.
