Thomaas even your guru doesn't offer any help with the Blinkers on or off! But once again even the guru nor you can predict BEFORE the race if blinkers are on will they have the desired effect that the trainer wants even though we don't know what the trainer wants! That's why betting on race on Melbourne Cup Day presents lots of value. You have every Ma and Pa Kettle backing numbers, the letter M, the colours and the names not to mention all of Thomaas's Blueprint followers! What Thomaas fails to understand is he constantly talks about individuals and their relative performances to themselves. Never it seems in relation to price or relative to the ability of the rest of the field!! Seems a losing formula in the long run to me. As I've said before if he is indeed successful on the punt then he must evaluate a field and the value BEFORE applying all the BS like blinkers, first time, dropping back in class (the horse doesn't know anything about class) etc. However he will never admit that he uses such techniques.

I prefer them to be wide but with a trail or a drag into the race when needed. I changed my mind about three wide nonsense when I saw three harness horses sit three abreast for the entire race and the horse that was three wide the whole way won. It was the better horse! Only noses in it though. You only have to look at the performance of Te Akau Shark in the Epsom wide but with a TRAIL most of the journey and still kept kicking. OP in my opinion and I'm only a lounge jockey could have spent a little bit more early and got closer.
