My understanding, which may well be wrong, is that the Stipes are much the same as the Crown Prosecutor with the JCA being the judiciary.

De Lore has technically got that wrong. The Stipes lodged a protest they don't make a decision. The decision is made by the JCA. That's exactly what I was told happened by one of the participants.

Most are if you lay the paper down flat with a page each side - the point being the Best Bets you would continually have to turn the page to see the rest of the field.

Maybe you do but these small fields don't do anything for revenue. Race quality is also affected which again impacts revenue. Clearly they need to resort the programming to align with the horse population instead of rolling out the same calendar every year.

I just saw a copy of the new NZRB publication Raceform. Seems a step up from Best Bets. Good bunch of articles across the codes. Nice to see a full field on one page as opposed to Best Bets. Minuses - difficult to read if visually impaired (slightly). The wrong type face and point size is being used. The fields are a rainbow of unnecessary colours. Pink type? Green type? Bugger if you are colour blind. The form lines look like the same rubbish we see on the TAB site. Which doesn't give you much confidence. Anyone else got any comment?

Hearsay. But regardless what Thomaas originally wrote was a fantasy made up in his own mind which proceeded to espouse as the facts. He wrote as if he was directly quoting the participants statements - which he wasn't. In any event the debate should be on the process and the judiciary - which one could legitimately argue is flawed. I agree.

Yep the filly was definitely distracted by something infield. Was on one rein the last 100m and not ridden out. The 2nd horse had every chance to pass her before the last 20m but couldn't. The only time there was contact was a little bump 20m before the line. The filly never took the other horses line because if you look on the video the 2nd horse was equally as guilty at running out. Until the last little bit you could have put two horses between them!

I'm aware of the issue. Firstly the ads are not the cause of the problem. They do contribute some latency but stuff all. If it wasn't for the ads then I couldn't afford to host BOAY. At the moment I'm OTD as they say in the harness world. That is I'm Owner, Trainer and Driver. I can provide a subscription where you don't get ads. Bear in mind it was advertising that kept The Informant going for as long as it did. The cause of the issue seems to relate to an upgrade of the core software a couple of months back. Many people who use this software have complained. The reason for the page not found message is I moved the location of the site. Doing that has proved to me that there is another issue with the host. I now have the data to prove it. The story of my IT life has been proving to vendors that THEY have a problem. In the mean time I'll work away at resolving the issue. Yes I hid the Topic because I didn't need critiscim for something I was aware of. Especially from our local goon.

Never said otherwise. If you read all my posts on the issue I pointed out the relevant rule used in other jurisdictions which if adhered to the filly wouldn't have been relegated. Agree totally. I disagree it isn't an issue of "networks" it is an issue of competency. Which in this case is what happened. I understand the view of both the jockey and Mr Ellis was that it was like kissing your sister i.e. "nothing in it."

There is no evidence of that and the Feds didn't act as if there was. 1. hearsay - gossip (usually a mixture of truth and untruth) passed around by word of mouth. rumor, rumour. scuttlebutt, gossip, comment - a report (often malicious) about the behavior of other people; By definition hearsay is something heard from someone not connected or there talking about someone else. I can assure you my source isn't hearsay. Think about that. It's not opinion or spurious - they are facts! That's rubbish even you have said (although hearsay and off the record) that the jockey didn't think there was anything in it. It was left up to the Feds to make a decision which ultimately they do. Would you have preferred the Rogie approach where he talks the ears off everyone to present his case often on behalf of the jockey? I reviewed the video this morning and I tend to agree with those that have the opinion the Feds made the wrong decision. Looking at the head on the beaten horse had every chance to get past the filly. He actually moved out at least twice before the filly did! He only got bumped inside the last 100m when he wasn't making any headway. In OZ in my opinion they wouldn't have demoted the filly.

That's your opinion that wasn't shared by the JCA. There is no evidence to say Mr Ellis INACTION made it worse. Whatever "worse" is. No I never wrote that I or those I spoke to said it was a "straight forward case." What I said was that Thomaas's fantasy about what was said and done before the protest did not match what I was told. I'm not interested in hearsay or "off the record" comments. If that is what she said then that concurs with what Mr Ellis said. The JCA still had the option of calling the jockey to give evidence. However would it have changed the outcome? I doubt it unless they applied the rule as Australia does that "withstanding the interference the second horse would not have beaten the winner." That's your opinion. I don't agree. Feel free to criticise the process and those that run it. The connections of the horse behaved entirely as they are entitled to. In that regard there has been some fantastical interpretations written which are far from the facts. As I said feel free to debate about the process and those that run it.

I happened to watch the replay of the Ellerslie races from Saturday 30 November yesterday and I must say in my opinion the track raced really really well. The horses were finishing evenly all over the width of the track. I've long been a critic of the track surface at Ellerslie but this was either an aberration or they've done some work. It did start the day at a G3 and no doubt improved as the day went on. The times were exceptional for the day as well.
