  1. Isnt this all a bit basic. Why have they got it so wrong? Actually I know why they didn't have any subject matter experts on the job I.e. Joe punter
  2. The DIA has but no one has listened.
  3. I've got to the point where I have no confidence in looking at the from they provide anyway. When the new site went live it was so inaccurate for so long. What I don't understand is how can an organization like AAP Mega form get it right and the NZRB can't?! Surely they source the same data?

  5. I see the love fest between the two owners of RC continues with biased moderation and editing of other people's posts. You see the difference here is that we rely on self responsibility whereby an individual's actions reflect on them.

  8. As I said you haven't read the whole trail of messages. I wasn't aware that I was conversing with "Steve Paul" during those conversations. Look I set this site up using my money and substantial amounts of time. Both of which I still provide. Sometimes I think Hesi was right when he called me a fool. In the overall context of how forums are run I think most of you get a pretty good run here.
  9. I think your avatar sums you up Hesi - The Grim Reaper. For those who think TC has been hard done well that's your opinion. I posted what I thought was a reasonable response to some complaints I had about a competition moderator editing another posters post because I felt it was important to clarify what the rules were. Also I felt strongly that the integrity of comps was important. Because of the way that post was edited I had no idea what was added or missing. That is the danger of editing someone else's posts. That is the most salient point of this "drama." I don't know TC or "John" or any of the other Hesi chums. However with the undermining and under current that has been going on BOAY in hindsight it was inevitable that my response lit the touch paper. Subsequently personal messages were shared and taken out of context. As always people have taken sides and distorted and embellished what has happened. So now it becomes a situation where I have said stuff that I didn't say or inferred stuff I didn't mean to infer. In my opinion this was inevitable knowing what Hesi has been doing behind the scenes that this would happen. Just remember Hesi if it had been RaceCafe you would have had your access rights removed, your avatar changed (lapdog was it?), YOUR POSTS EDITED and your personal messages read and used against you.

  13. Harness Racing New Zealand has welcomed the announcement made on Wednesday by Racing Minister, Winston Peters, that he says will revitalise the domestic racing industry. According to Peters, the Government will introduce two new pieces of legislation before the year is out designed to overhaul an industry in a “serious state of decline”. “The Coalition Government supports the overall intent of the Messara Report and is committed to reforms,” said Peters in a statement. “We know we have the grass, the race animals, and the people to help the industry achieve its potential. “As a result, Cabinet has agreed to a stepped approach with the introduction of two Bills to amend the Racing Act 2003.” The first, which is expected to be enacted by the start of July, will put into immediate effect a transitional governance arrangement ostensibly ending the New Zealand Racing Board (NZRB) in its current iteration. The Bill proposes the NZRB be reconstituted as the Racing Industry Transitional Authority (RITA) to drive the transition of the industry. “It is essential to have this transitional governance in place,” said Peters. “RITA will have a legislative mandate that encompasses change management as well as the current business-as-usual functions and powers of the NZRB. “As a result of RITA’s work, the government anticipates a second racing amendment Bill to proceed later in 2019. “It will implement the remaining reforms including post-transition governance,” he said. As well the change in governance, an expected pay off to the bill amendments will be the enforcement of tariffs on overseas bookmakers who take bets from New Zealanders. Harness Racing New Zealand’s Chief Executive, Peter Jensen, says Peters commitment to implementing the recommendations of the controversial industry review written by Australian John Messara last year was to be applauded. “We welcome the announcements from the Minister of Racing today and congratulate him on leading the systemic change that the industry requires through the Messara review and the subsequent implementation of its core recommendations. “We are delighted that legislation is on the way to enable the industry to rightly generate revenue from offshore bookmakers reflecting the wagering they take on product we provide. “HRNZ is committed to continuing to work with the Ministerial Advisory Committee and the associated working groups to deliver meaningful and lasting industry change.” View the full article
  14. Kym’s Girl, the 2001 New Zealand Cup-winning mare, had to be put down last week, aged 24. The daughter of Man Around Town had been retired from breeding for six seasons but was in good health until recently. She suddenly lost condition over the past few weeks and the humane decision was made by co-owner and trainer David Miller. Miller trained Kim’s Girl for her first 13 wins, the last of which was the G1 NZ Standardbred Breeders Stakes over Under Cover Lover, while later regular driver Colin DeFilippi took over the training and won five more races, including the Cup. DeFilippi also won a second Breeders Stakes and the Treuer Memorial at Bankstown over Holmes D G and Yulestar. Kym’s Girl won over $600,000 for Miller along with Graeme Trist and Bill Marra, while Chris Thornley was involved for 10 wins and was then bought out by his partners. She was a real rags-to-riches story for those involved and came close to not going anywhere at all. Kym’s Girl was bred by Kathy Hely, a sister to Geoff Tate, who stood Man Around Town at stud at the time and she came from his first crop of 12 foals. She was the last of four foals from Ribbonwood Spangle and she was one of six unraced foals from Espagna, so Kym’s Girl didn’t have much of a pedigree at all. As a yearling she was bought for $200 by David and wife Kym Neame and she was broken in by Miller, a pig farmer at Motukarara who had learned the ropes helping out Thornley. “It came to pass that Miller wasn’t being paid and he was thinking about getting rid of Kym’s Girl,” recalled Trist. “But she was some showing promise so we sort of pitched in to help out with costs, with Chris doing the shoeing and Bill and myself supplying the feed, and later we formed a syndicate to lease her.” Kym’s Girl won her debut at Washdyke as a three-year-old and another race that season at Addington, although she wasn’t getting anywhere in a hurry. “She wasn’t seeing her races out that well, but given the high speed she possessed, we suggested to David (Miller) that she be put on the fence and driven for one run at them. “She won her next three races and that became her forte.” Kym’s Girl won the Cup in a blanket finish over Homin Hosed, Yulestar and Holmes D G after being four back in the three-wide line down the back and at least seven-wide on the home turn. She was second in the New Zealand Free For All to Young Rufus that week and then contested the Miracle Mile, finishing fifth, but then won the Treuer Memorial at Bankstown. Kym’s Girl produced seven foals and six of them raced, but only three were winners and only the Mach Three filly Here We Go Again amounted to anything. She won 11 races and $198,000, taking out the G2 Ladyship Stakes in Auckland over Twist And Twirl and O Baby paying $48 in the hands of then junior driver Tim Williams. With Miller having given up on breeding, Trist is going 50/50 with trainer Jamie Gameson on the foals from Here We Go Again and she has produced a yearling filly by Sportswriter and a filly this season by Sweet Lou, while being back in foal to the latter. “Early on Kym’s Girl would get in foal, but she kept slipping, so we sent her up north to Massey where she almost died for some reason,” said Trist. “It wasn’t until we gave her to Neville Benny to look after that things improved and he got six foals in seven years from her. “Her first foal in the In The Pocket filly La Moocha was also very smart and had the same high speed, but she wouldn’t try an inch. “She won her first race and later she went terrific in her first race on the grass at Motukarara. “But you could only fool her once and not twice and she only raced five times.” La Moocha has produced a useful sort in Semper Fidelis (Aus1.55.5, $50,000) and a very promising two-year-old colt by Big Jim in Manjimup, who is with Steve Harding at West Melton. That looks set to be the next chapter in the story of Kym’s Girl, who really did come from nowhere. View the full article
  15. I've apologised but what I will say now is this type of stuff is getting somewhat tiresome. I'm not going to bother debating semantics either. To quote another poster TC made an error in judgement. I felt I had no option to restate the rules in order to maintain the integrity of competitions. Weasel the point I was trying to make is if a moderator edits someone else's post then it isn't a good look in a competition. When I looked at the post I had no idea what had been changed from the original. Hence the guidance I gave a the beginning in comps it is best to hide something that is offensive rather than edit it. What I also found troubling was the unnecessary angst directed at Marie. I've never had any issue with her running a competition on another site and I must say I have found her to be one of the better members of BOAY. Chaps BOAY doesn't have that many rules in place and I note that each of the protagonists in this latest "drama" would have been long gone if I applied other forums standards. Please be grateful for what you have.
  16. In the first instance I sent a copy of the post I made online to him as follows: Hi Sorry for my tardiness in replying to this issue. I've only just clicked on what has happened as I normally work from a position of trust. It is TOTALLY inappropriate for a competition moderator to edit someone else's post in this fashion. More so in someone else's competition. As I pointed out to those given competition moderation rights it is important to maintain the integrity of posts regardless if there are prizes are up grabs. Editing posts in this fashion seriously undermines that integrity. Up until now I've been able to avoid checking what each moderator does. One who steps out of line risks impugning the integrity of all. I won't tolerate that. If I find or am alerted to a similar indiscretion then that person will lose their rights. Sorry to post about the harshest post I have posted on BOAY to date. The Chief Stipe ____________________________ This is the PM that he has misinterpreted and as I have subsequently pointed out given he altered the post how would I know what it was as there is not backup!! Sorry for missing out a comma!: "Excuse me but in a competition where everyone is relying on everyone's picks remaining as posted before closing time you choose to completely rewrite one!! What message does that send to everyone? Not only that it wasnt your competition. As for who dobbed you in it wasn't one person and it is irrelevant who they are. The point you need to take on board is that people noticed which reinforces the fact that such behaviour undermines integrity."
  17. Racefields legislation will deliver squat, zip, nada, nothing. Even if it does return what is promised it will only cover the fees NZRB pays other jurisdictions!
  18. Next steps for racing industry reform RT HON WINSTON PETERS Deputy Prime Minister Racing Racing Minister Winston Peters says the Government will introduce two new pieces of legislation this year to revitalise the domestic racing industry. Cabinet this week considered its response to the ‘Messara Review of the Racing Industry’ as well as advice from the Ministerial Advisory Committee (MAC) on Racing. “The New Zealand racing industry is in a state of serious decline. The Coalition Government supports the overall intent of the Messara Report and is committed to reforms. We know we have the grass, the race animals, and the people to help the industry achieve its potential,” said Mr Peters. “As a result, Cabinet has agreed to a stepped approach with the introduction of two Bills to amend the Racing Act 2003.” The first Bill, due to be enacted by 1 July 2019, will put into immediate effect a transitional governance arrangement. This Bill proposes the New Zealand Racing Board (NZRB) be reconstituted as the Racing Industry Transitional Authority (RITA) to drive the transition of the industry. This Bill will also bring some financial relief for the industry by making offshore betting operators contribute to domestic racing and sports codes from the bets they take from New Zealanders. “It is essential to have this transitional governance in place. RITA will have a legislative mandate that encompasses change management as well as the current business-as-usual functions and powers of the NZRB,” said Mr Peters. “As a result of RITA’s work the government anticipates a second racing amendment Bill to proceed later in 2019. It will implement the remaining reforms including post-transition governance,” he said. The Cabinet papers are being proactively released as well as the MAC interim report. 23. I'd like to make a few points clearer if you will allow me to. I didn't accuse The Crucible of altering someone's "picks" however I did refer to the fact that he had altered someone's "post." A fact that he freely admits. The Crucible still has competition moderation rights and they haven't been revoked since the indiscretion was bought to my attention. When I set up the Competition Moderators role I made it quite clear that it came with some responsibility and integrity was important to BOAY. More on that later. So I specifically said not to alter posts but feel free to HIDE posts if they transgress your competition rules or standards. DO NOT delete them. The rationale for this approach was inevitably I would be called upon to adjudicate over a complaint. I accept that the altering of the post was a joke. However I have no idea what the original post said as it was altered by a moderator. Altered appears to be an understatement as it was completely rewritten I gather. I may be wrong because I don't know what the original post said. With regard to integrity I have had bad experiences with another site regarding competitions and I don't want that to happen here. Hence my strong response which some of you deem to be over the top. My apologies if you consider it so. I apologise to The Crucible as he has taken offence and taken personally my response. However I felt I needed to make it clear to ALL competition entrants and moderators that altering posts was not condoned. It wasn't long ago that many of us came to BOAY from another forum where posters had their posts altered, their avatars manipulated and their personal messages read and used against them by the site owner. In that context I do not think my reaction is over the top. To reiterate one point The Crucible still has his moderation rights. He is free to continue to do the fine job he has done until now. The choice is his.
  24. He is not banned but chooses not to post. If you get upset from his emojis then well BOAY won't stop that.
