  1. I'm in bed till race 1 starts on boxing day trots at Westport. Won't be moving. Xmas cancelled.
  2. Yeah got left 3 times with the lead changes. Still disappointed.
  3. I was flushed after race 2.
  4. Ummmm...this Sunday was like last Sunday. Can't believe Canstar got beaten by the stablemate. Gave up on Betterthanspraying after its last run at Oamaru. I'm on the bourbon.
  5. And as Basil said in an earlier thread about Mitchell Kerr it was a shame he lost The Dorchester too. He has some good horses.
  6. Also like Foreigner in Race 1. Has come in from 6 to 5s but still ok value. 2 very good runs since coming back so is obviously a bit stronger and into his work now. The trial at Vegas on December 4 was an easy win and he beat Champagne Prince who has done good things recently. The grit could even be his thing after showing the form on the grass. A very nice EW bet. If anyone out there is big on course and distance stats. Ultimate Desire's are super good. At 24FF and away from the grass too so she could surprise...maybe
  7. He sure is. Could have got Zinny Mach to behave himself at 24s on Cup Day though...?
  8. Well, it won't be Darryl Kerrigan at 4FFs lol I am really going against the grain tomorrow and go for Canstar at 10.50FF and 2.00FF Not sure Kotare Yolande has gate speed from what I have seen of its trials. Looks a really really good type and has picked them up and dropped them but if it gets back may be Canstar can keep ahead of it. If Kotare Yolande does go off the gate and lead then Canstar will trail and I am pretty confident I will get my money back as I am going each way. What do we like gentlemen?
  9. Overall time not flash. Last half 56.6. But it is Ashburton so means little. Didn't beat much either. Don't get me wrong. There is a racehorse there and well bred but 4FF tomorrow makes me choke. Will eat my words freely if wrong.
  10. 4 dollars is obscene. I watched it in its first run as it ran home with Lilac Becky and thought there was a glimmer. Then the second run at Addington was neither here nor there. In my book it couldn't beat Matai Minky and when I look at the field, most of the others. Could be wrong but 4 dollars doesn't make sense.
  11. and it was hammered in. Not often that happens these days. The word appears to be correct.
  12. They call themselves Bookies!!! Daryl Kerrigan opens at FF4.00 tomorrow at Ashburton. What a flipping joke. Obscene.
  13. pretty much. They aren't. The word bookies should not be used. A bookie backs his judgement with the odds on the field. Deciding what horse will win and trying to fleece the punter by giving odds on the rest. A bookie lays horses , the TAB does not. When every horse is unders to begin with then they are not bookies.
  14. I love it when the Basil brushes with the Brodie.
  15. Insert bean counters instead of bookies.
  16. Seems to fit the description of quite a few talented trotters. The TAB love this kind of horse. Sucks in punters money and goes straight into their own coffers.
  17. Ask Beragio.
  18. The opposite is quite possibly true. They know they be ripped apart by harness punters who put the time in so they have to rein them in eg restrictions. Luckily for the TAB, not many do. Whereas the 9K punter tonight saw a good deal at $1.50FF. I, and I believe you too Brodie, would not see a good deal and bet a large amount of money against a Purdon horse because of the sheer ability of the horses in the stable. That is a mark of respect. Its too dam risky! I am waiting for the day they announce a $5000 bet on an $8 dollar shot with exposed form. Now that would impress me.
  19. Yeah, but they deserve it don't they. Who would put a large bet on a race against a Purdon runner? For excitement and publicity. No surprise they don't mention the massive loss after the race or interview the losing punter lol.
  20. I think people know the TAB are tight asses and can't be bothered getting their money out of their pocket. Wait and see what happens to tote and FF pervades. Massive indifference and apathy. Not like the old days when horses would move in or out constantly.
  21. ? $9000. Its ok, Brodie, the person must have a lot of money to start with to even consider that so they won't be too bothered. Just another example of big bets that make limited sense.
  22. Well, their first set is so tight it has to be way off the mark for something to be backed in. You can watch the odds all night and nothing will have moved in. Last week at a meeting (can't recall exactly) out of all the races only Such Fun moved in, which was odd in itself. If you wait awhile they let everything out a bit. Favourites 50 cents or a dollar. Lesser favoured horses 3 or 4 dollars. It is pretty sad to watch really. Their whole setting of odds is based on paranoia.
  23. They were put out early evening yesterday. Then they get taken down when the TAB goes to bed and get put up once the TAB arrives at work. They take them down so they don't get stung I imagine. Risk Adverse policy as always.
  24. if it doesn't win tomorrow night.
  25. Chris McDowell has come on so much as a trainer. Just ask Brodie about Rainy River! ?
