RITA wouldn't allow that to happen would they?
-
RITA is in charge. So $139 million is allocated for next season. My question is though, will harness get its share to maintain the stakes of last season or will more of the 139 go to gallops? They seem to get everything else that they want ahead of the 2 other codes.

So new forms of getting punters information and seem to be the new norm now the TAB has dropped the ball with only the 'shark' giving out tips. I see the Whale and Mick are doing their thing on HRNZ. Are they being paid for this or are the TAB just getting the benefits for free? I also hear Fitzgerald and co are doing a Facebook harness show of some description but I have not watched it yet. Are the TAB just being cheap leeches?

A few days old but see it is not mentioned anywhere. Shame about Wyndham as it is a good betting track. If Gore gets ONE date on grass then Geraldine can get its date back off Methven.
-
Waterlea gets a double header on the grass and Geraldine keeps at least one date, preferably the November date. The racing at these venues is good value. Not sure why Invercargill gets so many meetings when they seem quite self sufficient down that way. They better be sure Forbury and Timaru closing for harness is the right thing to do. Once they go, they are gone forever.

It is all a joke. People need to think for themselves.

Do you bet on the greyhounds?

Grant Fox.

I hope they keep the draft at the very least. It was concerning when Holden said it was in the hands of RITA. To me, it felt like HRNZ had limited control of what could happen. I think the nominations for Friday and Sunday show the balance of the horses are still provincial grade types so I would not want RITA to cut some meetings in the countryside and replace them with more Addington dates. With 77, I would not think that is possible, but with RITA, anything seems possible. What are the odds this sentence gets spoken by RITA? "In light of stake decreases, RITA feels the need to lessen costs such as travel for owners and trainers so have continued the centralisation of racing until a time stakes revert to normal'

Seems to be at the mercy of RITA. I won't say what I really think.

https://www.hrnz.co.nz/news/chatting-with-the-chief/ Catchy title for the video for a whole lot of hot air. Not one thing of note. Seems as the though the racing dates are at the mercy of RITA and HRNZ has little influence. Or are they simply passing the buck to the ghost like entity that is RITA? I really hope, at the very least, RITA keep to the planned number of dates for next season with a reasonable number of tracks because this 2 meetings a week at Addington diet is getting real thin real quick.

Sarah is probably too far behind. Ben Hope might be a chance if the young trotters keep performing. Notable that Sarah, Ben and Dylan have the best UDR figures.

Fair enough. So drivers should be warned or fined for not getting their horses on the gate more often?

WTF? Welcome Fat Bottom Girls Walking Club Handicap Trot?
Happy Sunrise replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
The women have named themselves this so it is ok, better than ok, as it is embracing their own bodies...? Ring and offer to sponsor a race. I doubt they would ask for evidence so you are pretty safe. -
I think the mobile goes too fast sometimes for horses drawn on the outside of the gate at Addington. They are the last to get going and seem to be in a rush to catch the gate at times. Trotters especially.

That is somewhat worrying. But this is yesterday and, in my opinion, was a very poorly executed start with no horse even playing up to distract him. Valid argument. Reminds of Steve Walsh referring. The 'all about me' syndrome. It has no place at a start where time is of the essence.

The editing of the race on HRNZ starts after the beginning because Lamb said 'happy' when he let them go but this is essentially how it looked. Not the position of the number 3 horse. feel sorry for those who bet on the second line horses. No chance of a fair beginning.
-
There is an inquiry into the starter denying half the field a fair start.
-
What a terrible start to the race. Half the front line were miles back off the tape.

You just have to wonder why people like are not sent packing as soon as possible. Heaven help the country if individuals like this ever get in charge of anything. https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2020/06/maori-party-co-leader-john-tamihere-calls-pakeha-asymptomatic-racists.html He's also not holding back on Winston Peters either, who as Racing Minister gained Budget funding for racecourses. Tamihere's promising to "rip it out of horses and give it to people". What kind of language is 'rip it out of horses'? What a total tosser.

Now I know how Brodie feels.

They won't change in a million years. They will be paranoid about getting stung with the initial odds and I tend to agree with the bean counters.

More of a question about Race 3 which is not the strongest field on record. Is Dean Taylor trying to get Ricky May a win? Robbie Close usually drives for Dean Taylor but has opted for Jenabella who showed a touch of improvement last start but has been a costly horse for punters so far. No stand start record and has drawn 1. Paying plenty. Buckskin is the form horse of the field but is at FF1.95. Hard to believe really it would ever be under $2 but is also driven by a Dean Taylor driver in Sarah O'Reilly. So Ricky May is put on to drive Jake at FF 9 and 2.50 first up after a few trials and running second to Reflectionsofmylife at Ashburton (who is at 7 FF in a better field in Race 2) home in 56.6 and 26.8, though the mile rate was nothing so not so meaningful. Still, it indicates he might be relatively fit after a couple of trials and he still only a 3 year old so might be improving unlike some of these. He has been favourite in some of his starts and run some handy enough races. Ricky May, to my knowledge, doesn't drive Dean Taylor horses very often at all, so is Jake the horse no one wants to be on or is he is the one to get on while giving Ricky May his winning return drive?

They do not want to be taken to the cleaners. $50 being noteworthy shows it.
