  1. They are not. Numbers are falling fast. People may be dedicated and passionate etc but at the end of the day dollars count and there comes a time when you are foolish to continue.
  2. Make blood spinning illegal and training costs would be reduced enormously lol.
  3. What would you like to see?
  4. Since the clubs are going to own the machines they will carry the can for whatever happens.
  5. If true, she should resign.
  6. The following generations are able to own horses too. That is a sweeping generalisation and not true, almost offensive to some. Have you not seen some 'boomers' having a bet at your local TAB? Not all boomers are flush with money. Far from it. They are full of it. Each generation faces its own challenges. And many do on here too. I don't think people should separate others into boxes of generations. Are you exactly the same as the people who are in your age bracket? I doubt it. Racing needs to try and appeal to each and every generation to be successful through a variety of means which enables them to own or participate in racing. Vested people like you are central to keeping racing going. Age is irrelevant.
  7. So the TAB dumps the concept of comments due to costs but accepts them freely from a club?
  8. So the Invercargill meeting has comments on the TAB site for each horse but they are not on the HRNZ website under the fields. Why is that?
  9. It was pretty good. They had the night to themselves which helped. I wonder what will happen on Sundays etc when you don't have such a harness person in the studio or are competing with other meetings.
  10. The industry needs a nuts and bolts man. Hands on and gets stuck in. Any distractions and it is a waste of time.
  11. Not a genuine thought among it all. I would rather employ the shoe shiner off the street, at least they can think for themself.
  12. It is the default term for someone without independent thinking skills. Bullshitters use it.
  13. Read: I have no idea of the organisation I am in charge of Read: I will be a nice guy and do lunches well and get consultants to do the real work Read: When people leave the organisation because of my ineptitude I will say it is because I empowered them into new leadership roles with other organisations Read: I surround myself with yes people Read: Again, I have no knowledge of the organisation I am running so I will use fancy words that mean absolutely nothing of use. Read: I will have a lot of meetings and spend time in various cafes drinking coffee in the community. Anybody who writes shit like this has no idea. I have no time for people like this. Hoping to be proved wrong.
  14. There are several barns you would never buy from.
  15. Nice return to racing!
  16. The dots are too far a part for me to join I am afraid. It is all very depressing reading the above.
  17. What do people think of this? Did the Greyhound people enjoy his leadership? STATEMENT FROM HRNZ The Board of HRNZ has moved quickly to establish executive support to the organisation following the departure of former Chief Executive Peter Jensen. Chair, Ken Spicer, announced today that current Board Member Phil Holden will step into the Chief Executive role on a part-time basis until such time as a permanent appointment is made. “The Board is fortunate to have someone with Phil’s skills and experience available to support the organisation at this critical time.” As an experienced Chief Executive and former CE of Greyhound Racing NZ, Phil will bring strong leadership and industry expertise to bear to support the Board and the wider team at HRNZ during this important transitional period. “I am really excited to be able to pick up the reins and support the HRNZ team at this time. I know it’s a challenging time, but we have a great team in place and I’m looking forward to leading and supporting them.” Phil will take a leave of absence from his Board position in order to undertake the role and this is effective immediately. Ken is confident that between the HRNZ Board, Phil and the Senior Management team, HRNZ has excellent resources to successfully lead harness racing through this transitional period.
  18. The TAB should open a book on how many drivers get done for more than 10 strikes as there could be a bit of pent up frustration in some drivers.
  19. No real value for me in anything tomorrow but I am interested in seeing how the likes of Who Made Who, Fortunia, Terry , Treasure Me and Star of Timpany race on Friday. Will all be short no doubt so of no interest punting wise for me. If I had to chuck a horse out over the two days I would probably go Szybka Lane at 10 and 3.10. Won its last two pretty well, which included beating some handy mares at Mot. The horse may have finally hit it straps pre virus so I can't see why it won't continue on with it in an average field from barrier 1. Had a speedy trial at Oamaru in preparation so why not bless my punting return with a roll of the dice on her.
  20. Tips like these below? Punters who are looking for guidance won't look twice at numbers without comments to reinforce why. They are probably chosen by Paul the Octopus or randomly generated by a secretary at RITA.
  21. If management are writing them then you could be right. But really, if someone was employed to do it, the comments would have been up nearly instantly as the person would have been studying the form and trials avidly.
  22. So the cutbacks finally hit. It is beyond comprehension there are no comments / picks for meetings anymore. The TAB have no comprehension of how a regular punter operates.
  23. About $22,500 a week was spent on consultants and $54,000 a week on travel and accommodation. Consultants? I will wager they are in there fixing the website and staying at flash hotels. The 2019 report had over $2 million of unexplained expenses, or on average $39,365 a week. Free bets to the management each week? While some defend the new management, and to a degree the broom needed to be swept, reading things like this just makes one wonder who the hell is in charge. $2 million dollars of unexplained expenses in 2019? WTF. Sounds like a finance company on the verge of collapse.
  24. 2 meetings ?
