The problem here in New Zealand as against the authorities in Australia , the New Zealand authorities have about as much credibility as what you’d fit on a pin head . The trainers lost there license immediately and the dogs they had were deregistered . Why should trainers not involved in this be asked to race against them today or any other day

Interesting thing about Craig Rendle while he was Chairman of the Board , a dogs Ownership papers were fraudulently changed within the Wellington office and the ANZGA office in Australia so that he and Cole they could get the breeders cheque’s . Clairly 2 million dollars in stakes isn’t enough Time to have the man charged as that is fraud.

Having just seen on T V 3 what was the inevitable for the demise of the Coles now is the time for all those Owners and Trainers who have been racing against these proven “ Cheats” to now stand up employ a lawyer to sue The Coles for fraudulently stealing all the stake money that they accumulated roughly over the last two years . Not only that if New Zealand follow what Australia done to all kennels associated with live baiting every dog that has been through the Cole Kennels should immediately be deregistered by Greyhounds New Zealand. Those dogs have all been given an “ unfair advantage “ and that is against the rules and the New Zealand rule book . They must immediately be Deregistered . It must even apply to Cole dogs that have been moved on to other trainers

The Trainers devastated by the loss , he wouldn’t give a fuck about it . What he would be upset about have one less dog that he could run 3 or 4 times a week , potential loss of income . Quite right 5 starts in 10 , even 3 in 10 should be unacceptable. Australian trainers tend to run there dogs weekly when up and in racing trim , certainly not 6 starts in 10 days . There governing body would either fine the trainer or take his license off him , the NZ welfare officer should step up to the plate and charge this trainer with animal abuse . It is not acceptable

Don’t need the stats the numbers tell it all

Prove those figures wrong , 250 per year imported then roughly 300 out through gap or there associates ie night rave etc. then breeding stats around 800 pups per year so that equates to the gap and their affiliates list increasing by and its waiting list getting larger by 750 dogs per year . Really if you can’t or don’t want to pay a $ 2000 bond then maybe you should look for something else as 2 k is neither here nor there.

They would all die mysteriously after their racing career ends just to get the 2k back, don’t think so. Either be prepared to pay the fees or don’t race them . Easy

No it will be the New Zealand bred dogs banged on the head , do the sums 250 imports a year come into NZ roughly 300 dogs find homes per year and NZ happens to roughly breed 800 per year so your list for finding homes is increasing by around 750 per year. Race them here no problem but to be flown back to Australia at end of career. No ticketed dogs allowed , genuine dogs only need apply

It’s about bringing dogs into New Zealand then after racing it becomes New Zealand’s problem , just becomes another number on the Gap register . I didn’t think this had anything to do the racing side of it , it’s about what happens to the animal after it’s racing career is over . Dont have an issue with it racing here , but when it’s racing career ends it should be sent back to its country of birth . It should not be allowed to be registered with the Gap New Zealand as its Australian bred should be placed on the Australian Gap Registry .

The difference is Australian owners have a free get out clause , it is so much harder to have a dog euthanised in Australia than in New Zealand . Send the dog to New Zealand and the problem disappears for the owner in Australia. How many dogs go across to Australia from New Zealand , maybe one or two in the last ten years . 250 a year for the last ten years from Australia to New Zealand . Australia 2500 over the last 10 years New Zealand 1 or 2 over last 10 years I think the difference is the New Zealand dogs probably came back here. The Australian dogs just end up on the Greyhounds as Pets Register . Sounds a fair deal . not
