Thanks Freda, you're a scholarly Maiden and a gentlewoman... Merry Xmas!
-
Serious question though Freda.... ...who does the gear checking down South at the various courses...is it the farrier sometimes at lesser meetings...and junior Stipes at Riccarton?
-
Yea na probably...drawing a long bow to say it's caused an injury... ..maybe welt marks from the non padded segment which invariably comes into play with flank whipping? Im picking Burns showed the RIU who said..."f off, that happens in every race and we're far too busy already counting strikes...especially with Opee riding" The other thing about this business is the psychology of the horse when 'showing them the Whip' A common event when 'keeping them up to the mark' after the bash If the narrative of "it doesn't hurt" comes into the psyche they're surely not showing them because of the noise aspect.....but warning them they'll hurt them more if they don't keep going? Its all "it doesn't hurt but the noise" If so just insert an audio segment of padded Whip 'noise' in the crop and place it close to the lug...if the Jock has a high pitched voice and can't yell hard out?

Has the Woeful WEIGH IN...become even MORE Woeful??
Thomass replied to Thomass's topic in Galloping Chat
Maybe...perhaps the sight of actually seeing him the first time after telling us he'd be there weeks ago? But seriously A....Radich is the thinking woman's bit of crumpet...he has the intellect that show needs on a continual basis... Emily's lovely of course but never raises contentious issues and Guerin has to grease palms with his various bit parts... Didnt you enjoy Danny though? What couldn't baby face Marsh give her that Jammie has....diamonds? -
Yes we were Freda...in fact think we still are!

So NZTR were one of the first signatories to the IFHA new Whip guidelines back in January... This Guideline gives examples of use of the whip which are prohibited: - Using the whip to the extent of causing injury.- Using the whip with the arm above shoulder height.- Using the whip with excessive force.- Using the whip on a horse which is showing no response.- The continued use of the whip on a horse after its chance of winning or being placed is clearly gone.- The unnecessary use of the whip on a horse that has clearly won its race or has obtained its maximum placing.- Using the whip on a horse which is past the winning post.- Using the whip on the flank of the horse.- Using the whip with excessive frequency.- Using the whip on any part of the horse's head or in the vicinity of the head.- The use of the whip in front of the saddle while the whip is held in the forehand position, unless exceptional circumstances prevail. Strangely when sending out their latest missive on this...the Whipping on the Flank is missing Why? Because this is a massive problem in NZ...no wonder they run faster by @3L...horses are VERY sensitive there as horsemen know... Here's a shot of J Parkes last Saturday....the last time ANY Jock got warned about flank Whipping was.....NEVER No wonder NZTR conveniently left it off the missive...

Has the Woeful WEIGH IN...become even MORE Woeful??

FINALLY...Luke Radich appears!! How good is this bloke at analysing everything from good horses to jockeyship to whips? Danielle was superb as well and when she stops swapping partners so often and decides to have babies...she'll be solid GOLD standard as a Trackside comments expert... ...if these f'ers at Trackside decide to allow humans back on course.... FFS, what's wrong with the suits at NZTR not being proactive in insisting NZ Racing needs presenters on course?? -
To be fair he was instructed to drop the clutch on Ralph's neddy...and what a sight that was! Korare Cheif like! I heard Billy Pomare giving him a wrap as Ocean Billy likes to keep rolling and can keep going all day.... Just how good was Pomare on Weigh In last week though? Talk about personality...even Guerin couldn't stop him
-
Was it supposition or did he talk with a lithsp? Not Jazz...cant have been Thorney even though he got a perm and was never a hooker
-
Never ever been described as BIG shad...very diminutive in every facet..especially dim... With Xmas around the corner I feel sorry for getting her fined though...should have waited until after Xmas Im sure the Trainers Assoc. will put out a missive telling their members to read da rules though...ok
-
Some good horses raced here with one eye over the years...although banned in Australia now...I think we're still good to go.. ..one eyed Stipes are all sweet...so why not horses?
-
Really ballsey stuff coming out gay in such a macho industry prone to bogan philosophies too Of course there's never been a gay All Black.. ...so that's rather a shock to be fear
-
That'd be a tough call wouldn't it? When Gripper left the Barrier Blanket off IN A TWINKLING in the Derby...hadn't been slow out in previous 6 starts with it on... ....Then slow out in the Derby going down by a head at the finish...should be DQ'd? Outragious stuff but the hopeless RIU failed to audit Starting protocols for another year after realising the HQ Starters weren't following the standard rules... ...and paid the price when Gripper and Scooter failed yet again to adhere to the Starters manual when leaving a horse out in the City of Aucks Cup this year...
-
Ok good work, took my advice and finally fined someone... Southland Racing Club 12th December 2020 - Race 6 AWS Legal Southland Crystals Open 2200M /Race 8 Tim Yeo Contracting R74 1600M Trainer J Gordon admitted a breach of Rule 616 (4) in that she presented and raced NOPELE and RIPNROLL with visor blinkers when only blinkers were declared. After hearing from all parties the JCA imposed a fine of $150. I feel a bit sorry for her though...here's the pattern... Got another winner today with Blinkers on....also on last start...but first time declared in Blinkers raced in Visors for 2 starts... The pattern is if Gordon has 2 runners in one race...she slaps the Blinkers on one and the VISORs on the other... Today with one runner it gets to wear Blinkers...clearly she thought there's no difference....and has only one Hood in her kit...ignorance of the law is no excuse but another trainer tried the same trick today and got caught out.... After the gear checker got a kick up the jacksey.... Still doesn't explain why Gordon put the Nasal Strip on and the checker wasn't sharp enough to pick it up... Lets hope the HOPELESS RIU have sent out a general missive of... CHECK FOR SLITS
-
Now C, you know I'm NEVER wrong The Bureau told me they've never had a gear change requested by the trainer from Blinkers... ..so VISORs last 2 starts, Riccarton Blinkers back on with a Strip...2 races before that VISORs... One could assume Gordon thought there was no requirement to notify Visors...but why didn't she mention a NS was going on either? She needs a fine...ASAP
-
I watch every race in NZ Pitty...I picked this up delving into the reason for the form reversal.... Gordon requested the Barrier blanket for this race and went through the Bureau....however according to the Bureau she never requested changes to VISORs on both her horses or the Nasal Strip at Riccarton.... When that happens the wallah doing the checking simply looks at the list...so if it hasn't been notified by the trainer obviously missing things like the nasal strip on makes the process easier to fail...as it's not listed Im picking NZTR won't change their incorrect info until they've been told a Pandemic's hit the World
-
Now Freda, since when were the RIU fully awake and cognoscenti....and when they are, into correcting Stipes reports? Their mission statement, courtesy of Godber, is "WE DONT MAKE MISTAKES...and if in a Blue Mooner that occurs... "WE NEVER ADMIT IT...ok" My team contacted the Bureau and RIU after the meeting and I'm betting the left Gordon won't be getting fined or the checking wallah for that matter... This has happened many times and all they do is 'remind' peeps "to try and do your jobs please" Who usually checks gear, the farrier when plate checking in some places or the parking white coat bloke on the Coast?
-
What is it about the mainlanders? Good down to earth people on average but as well as hating Northerners they have an aversion to following instructions....because they like to think of themselves as freedom lovin', gun totin' marryin' ya sister type Deliverence devotees?? Maybe... So after the shambles of not one but 2 Starters positioning their stalls in the wrong position last month...after which you'd have thought the HOPELESS RIU would have ordered an audit of all things 'official' down Sowff We have Saturday's Ascot Park meeting where not one but 2 horses started with incorrect gear...both winners NOPELE and the winner of the last and the same stable of Jo-Ann Gordon ..NOPELE in a major form reversal....with VISORs on... ..now fair enough you may say....the checker..if they're a non horseman, may look at Visors and think..."yea sweet az, Blinkers on" If they 'don't give a f' would be a horseman's excuse... Ok so that's the officials f up...but what about the trainer J Gordon who didn't think it mattered if she notified the Bureau before slapping on the change either...just did it on both her horses So this horse's history has last 2 starts VISORs...started at Riccarton before that with Blinkers and get this..a NASAL STRIP...not notified either ...before that 2 starts in VISORs.... ALL missed by the gear checker...who may have been the farrier...who doesn't give a rats about gear anyway...and gets confused if there's slits Being a Southern gun totin' freedom lovin' keep it in the familyman

So C, you've obviously had your 'data' pear reviewed.... ....and now there you are with an apple on your noggin...with my arrow straight through that sucker... Fired all your ammo and now accept a 'population' of Prems almost always beats a 'population' of industry runners.... ...in the same 'population' class Vini vidi f in Vichy mofo -
Did Your Honour have a black cloth on his noggin? Home d...at the bar?

Pfffft...you should do Xmas pantomime...this year and every year You and you're mate SUBJECTIVELY told your fellow sycophants to "back the rail horse on an H 11 at Whangas" ..."we think that's where the value is" Anyone SUBJECTIVELY coming to that assessment has racks in their head... Everyone in the industry knows it bar your bunch of ignorant mavericks... Just remind us what you algorithm devotees do when you see an unlucky horse again who has potentially run a career best performance but for being blocked for .25 secs? Yep...you IGNORE it... I don't...Its called being a professional FORM ANALYST C... Not employing a Girl Friday in every Monday to insert a bunch of crap figures that gives you crap horses to 'invest in maidens' Your raisin dee tear... -

Seriously mate, don't post b/s if you haven't the foggiest idea what you're talking about... Northern horses usually go South when they're past it...like some people...they DONT need to perform above their previous opposition since they've gone south for inferior opposition... FFS... All of this Benchmarking to find a common rating has been going on for years now and it just shows how unsophisticated NZ Punters are in comparison to our cuzzies in their ditch.... -

This is standard faire amongst the pros now Hue... Each track has a certain standard time for each track condition to end with an overall rating after calibration... Personally I don't do this...I take it as read superior races produce superior horses as long as they've run to my standard taking into account unlucky, wide without cover et el Curious and her boyfriend can't quite get their head around that preferring instead to raw rate it... They're either too lazy or too stupid to make allowances of 0.25 for Premier class back to Industry class...pffffft
