    It does strike me as odd that I take a $4 easy bet trifecta, hit it and win $1200 and I have got show Id to collect it.

    Or they could be restricted punters trying to supplement their income after having heavy restrictions applied to them.

    Have they had a harness meeting at Taupo before? First time I can recall harness racing there.

    Agree although if Punters see the Broadster sinking the odds on the Tote they may well be enticed to bet on another runner as it’s odds have blown out. If enough people were to do that then the Broadster may get a reasonable return on the tote but agree it’s not really worth the risk.

    You have no restrictions on the tote but agree the pools are small.

    I don’t disagree with you but the pool was about $1300 and I’m sure most people like the Broadster tend to take fixed odds these days (assuming the don’t have heavy restrictions like the Broadster).

    How often do we bet into the world pool in Nz? Is our tote the world pool for every Hong Kong meeting? I know there are different minimum % bets on Hong Kong compared to other meetings with these tab.

    Or why restricted punters can’t bet what ever amount they like.

    It seems strange to me that the Auckland Cup for Harness is December 31st. The greyhound cup is at the end of January and the Galloping cup is in March. I am assuming they were all at a similar time of year at some point? What was the logic in splitting them up? I realise after this year the Greyhound Cup will be gone but it just seems odd as I’m sure they use to have a cup week of sorts a few year back.

    So I went a long to Hawera today. A couple of points. Jay Abernethy seems like a top bloke. There didn’t seem to be anywhere to bet in the public area, not that there was a huge crowd. There also wasn’t anything saying you could go into the members to place bets if that was the case. Boy oh boy was the 30 mins between racing boring, might have felt longer than usual as the day wasn’t particularly nice and the public facilities look like a bomb has hit them.

    Totally agree. I can’t quite understand why no one in the media has picked up on this or cares. It makes absolutely no sense to me.

    There are some in Wellington as far as I am aware.

    They just don’t have any staff at Petone anymore I believe. They are based in Wellington CBD now.

    Put a bit aside each year to self insure incase there is an abandonment one day.

    Presumably to know that one would have to be restricted from both codes. You would imagine less would be restricted from gallops though.
