Never let the facts get in the way, after last years conference I ask John Dunn exactly that if you had more money to put into stakes where would it be "15,000 maiden race's the top looks after itself"
-
Next year's calendar has atleast 4 Addington meeting now taken away and I think there are 5 or 6 others around the country now not going ahead because of funding .Yes they might have been extras but what message does that send you.
-
Not awash with too much cash as programmed dates for next season now being canceled.

Banks Peninsula don't own their track and Ashburton are in conjunction with the gallops but both run good meetings

I like your thinking galah, the New Zealand Trotting Owners Association is currently working on a Website and we will looking for things that will drag people to it. As you are probably aware I have been following a few of the Westview and Unhinged horses thru training and racing even if they run down the track just so people get some sort of prospective of the highs and lows. Fergalicious might end her racing career this time in depending on the syndicate members so is the perfect candidate for a track to hopefully track series. I know not everyone is on Facebook so there will be alot of Unhinged content on the new site. Keep the ideas coming in cheers Mr Galah 👍.

Galah do you have a link to the show, it should be compulsory viewing for everyone in our industry. There are so many points in your summary that are as Brodie would say "On the money ". -
-
Betcha is approximately 6% of turnover which is pretty good for a targeted market.
-
That was this year's race, by betcha
-
10 horse's 1,000,000 stakes, 60,000 buy in , considerably more.
-
For the first year of slots race's in NZ HRNZ only put in a small percentage of the money, not so now.
-
I agree the drone footage last night was really good. Brodie could be half on the money I'd be keeping it.
-
More and more seems to be the policy but at what cost, as we all know most of our clubs are run and staffed by volunteers if you start throwing in midweek meetings eventually it will catch up. Next time your at a race meeting have a look around and take a peek at your race book then work out the average age of those volunteers, don't take it for granted that they will just appear when the next one retires.

You make some good points Galah -

Probably is , maybe the junior concessions are working to well. -
On the money galah, any of you guys actually talked to Kevin or the Clark family? . Go and watch my interviews and feel the passion they have for the game. Unfortunately we are losing the people who are the backbone of our industry one positive is HRNZ are starting to recognize some of them even if it's Mike Love putting my interviews on paper with no recognition of his source.
-
The starters are doing this because unfortunately it's something they are measured on race starts on time along with the club , yip the club I'm not sure how the club can influence a start from the stand but by default the clubs pay the starter. If you want standing starts that are standing starts give the starter the time to set one unfortunately horse's are horse's not robots.
-
The junior concession might just be doing to good a job.
-
Maybe the newly formed National Bureau will over see the allocation of stakes and stop the discrimination of our best income producers, here's hoping.
-
Not sure , I haven't changed anything, hopefully somebody on here can inform us both why that is happening.
-
It's a shame a club see fit to fund arguably the best earners to our industry, e.g older horses who start more frequently in bigger fields the least .Very hard to understand the logic and would welcome a response from any club doing this but to be fair I won't hold by breath.
