  1. That was this year's race, by betcha
  2. 10 horse's 1,000,000 stakes, 60,000 buy in , considerably more.
  3. For the first year of slots race's in NZ HRNZ only put in a small percentage of the money, not so now.
  4. I agree the drone footage last night was really good. Brodie could be half on the money I'd be keeping it.
  5. More and more seems to be the policy but at what cost, as we all know most of our clubs are run and staffed by volunteers if you start throwing in midweek meetings eventually it will catch up. Next time your at a race meeting have a look around and take a peek at your race book then work out the average age of those volunteers, don't take it for granted that they will just appear when the next one retires.
  6. Probably is , maybe the junior concessions are working to well.
  7. On the money galah, any of you guys actually talked to Kevin or the Clark family? . Go and watch my interviews and feel the passion they have for the game. Unfortunately we are losing the people who are the backbone of our industry one positive is HRNZ are starting to recognize some of them even if it's Mike Love putting my interviews on paper with no recognition of his source.
  8. The starters are doing this because unfortunately it's something they are measured on race starts on time along with the club , yip the club I'm not sure how the club can influence a start from the stand but by default the clubs pay the starter. If you want standing starts that are standing starts give the starter the time to set one unfortunately horse's are horse's not robots.
  9. The junior concession might just be doing to good a job.
  10. Maybe the newly formed National Bureau will over see the allocation of stakes and stop the discrimination of our best income producers, here's hoping.
  11. Not sure , I haven't changed anything, hopefully somebody on here can inform us both why that is happening.
  12. It's a shame a club see fit to fund arguably the best earners to our industry, e.g older horses who start more frequently in bigger fields the least .Very hard to understand the logic and would welcome a response from any club doing this but to be fair I won't hold by breath.
  13. As long as your reduce points at the same time
  14. Here is yesterday's result the only thing that appears to be halved is the tote so if for some reason your's have been i suggest you contact betcha
  15. If you have anything like a top 2yr old it's going to be a very long season, the recent trials look like there will be alot show up when the money's up.
  16. Doesn't seem to make alot of sense if correct as an owner being on the Racecourse when your horse is racing is what it's all about , count me out otherwise, surely if you were racing in a location with very few local horse's you would try and make it visitor friendly and race on a Friday and Sunday . Race date people wake up.
  17. Just a different perspective, the hocking trick has been around for years and if deliberate absolutely disqualification but in my opinion that wasn't the drivers intention but dropping his foot did look deliberate so why. If you've every driven you will know exactly why, as an example go sit in a lazy boy recliner sit back then use a whipping action then drop your right leg down then reenact whipping a horse 🐎 you will find you can hit it alot harder and looking at the video that's exactly what I could see. Not sure if disqualification to last was called for but from first absolutely in my opinion.
  18. Country meetings have been generating outstanding turnovers and GBR but just as important is bringing new people into our industry, the average bet size I'm picking won't be big but the introduction to new people is priceless. It had a real family vibe down there and the kids entertainment was outstanding. 10 out of 10 Central Otago Trotting Club.
  19. I'd agree with that statement, not sure on 8000 but the biggest crowd I've seen outside of Addington cup day harness wise.
  20. Bloody Lobster 🦞 got us again.
  21. Your right about project horse's taking alot of stable time but they can usually see the ability in them, that's probably what sets Diamond Stables apart they could have a stable of 30 and have a great udr but we probably wouldn't have seen Sundees Son and many others on the track. There aren't many perfect horse's about but something i have noticed the good one's have all got attitude and mostly not a good one.
  22. The Galah is on the money with the Lobster 🦞
  23. I don't take offense with the Lobster alot of other trainers would of sacked her before she raced I'm picking. They have worked miracles with her and even at the mot Johnny said she went huge . Her main problem is she just gets so wound up but has got ability and it will click one day.
