Absolutely jackpoting first 4's make a difference but grass track racing with big fields is why you get them although we didn't have as big a fields as usual, as for good GBR again Methven punches well above it's weight infact the club that produced the best total GBR last season was Methven.
-
Correct, Sunday's have been our money makers for a long time , fortunately the meeting held up at Methven last week about 70,000 up on last year with a Good GBR but we did have one more race. This week's OAMARU meeting we will be more the guide line when we're not on the grass .

I bought that very subject up this week at the upper regional forum which Brad Steele was a participant. He seemed genuinely concerned and was going to bring it up with Entain .Last weeks 12 races at Methven took 5.40hrs last year's 11 race's 4.40 . We aren't funded to provide between race entertainment which is also a problem, if you went to the rugby and half time break was 40 minutes would you hang around.
-
To be viable to breed horse's you need someone to race them, about 60% of race horse's still have breeders as part of their ownership. Although we were told 70% of the new funding is going into the lower end horse's I can't see it, creating new race's at that level is not what I'd call looking after the bread and butter battlers that ultimately fund our racing .
-
I think opinion stops when you call someone a cheat, but that's just my opinion.
-
If your lucky enough to buy one race fit you have saved yourself another 5 grand. Racing horse's is not for making money.

Personally not that disappointed with the result , Telfer's sneaking closer in the premiership but I'm expecting a big weekend for the 88's. You could also say David Butcher was a tad unlucky with Whitfield. Small fields on tight tracks always very tactical.

The behavior in the last 5 year's has improved significantly, restricting alcohol purchases and police numbers has had a very positive effect on crowd behavior.

To be fair to HRNZ they don't promote anyone else putting out any sort of content, why because it shows up the pathetic job they are doing. When did they last promote ownership, The new ceo has talked of upping the game so we will wait and see I'm really hoping he doe's Our industry simply doesn't exist without volunteers so piss enough of them off and have no industry, today's rant over. I'm Off to Methven tonight for another meeting.

Over 500 people into Syndicates with absolutely no take out most of which are new to racing, interviewing owners when did you last see that on trackside, volunteers at over 70 meetings as an official every year Methven and Addington, videos from other meetings probably 40 , chairman of the Canterbury Trotting Owners Association, every Saturday videoing from somewhere, taking BBQ to stable day's and Owners BBQ at all Methven meetings, yet HRNZ does exactly nothing to promote me , sour grapes no, Make them look stupid yes , paid for anything no any sponsorship I get goes straight back into industry.Thank you IRT and BetaVet. Why them do it , I love horse's and the people of our industry. Working on a few things at moment including Owners for the day which I have run in the past, continue promoting ownership in Omakau where we give away shares in my Syndicates , yip costs me money. Then theirs my wife who does exactly the same, so will ungrateful people beat me out of this industry, no chance.
-
Outstanding idea , I've been jotting down a few ideas which I thought I'd share with hrnz but I seriously think I'd be wasting my time so I think I'll go directly to the club's.

Friday night coverage is 1000 % better than what we have become accustomed to but if we what to encourage ownership how about we start seeing some. The big syndicate in Dalton Shard were a great advert to ownership if only we got to see them, better still we could even talk to them.
-
Always great in a interview, probably one of the lightest male drivers around.
-
Recently visited Rangiora on a Saturday and was surprised by the number of thoroughbreds that do use the track.
-
Ashburton is already a training center, currently expanding.
-
Betting figures will tell you our best betting races have over 10 starters unfortunately Cambridge and Auckland struggle to attract those numbers but if you like betting into 6 horse fields and two dollar favorites with small exotic pools knock yourself out.
-
Where was the owners representative in that group, with owners views, yip most in that group own horse's but how many pay to have them trained and race them , again the forgotten majority.
-
Uhinged owners experience, currently done in conjunction with Omakau Trotting Club 12 people walk away with a share in syndicate resulting in alot of their friends joining up , should be done at every meeting maybe not 12 people but watch this space, tours of the Stables guided by CTOA Starting soon at Addington ,i could keep going HRNZ had a group of people working on owners promotions which included myself and Jess Davidson but stopped when Jess left , get her back.
-
Every meeting at Methven puts approximately 80,000 back into the industry less trackside costs which I don't know. Every meeting at Methven now puts on owners/trainers BBQ near the end of the day care of the canterbury Trotting owners Association, irt UNHINGED and the club. Not alot of cost, bit of volunteer time alot of happy people who want to come back.
-
Start by stop treating owners as an inconvenience on Raceday, make it the best experience they have ever had oncourse. Put our money where we get the best bang for our buck, grass track meeting's in Canterbury. Cut expenses don't make me race outside of our own locality. Spread the love first win bonuses, pretty simple worked before. 2yr old entain bonus 3yr old 10,000 minimum to winner 4yr old 15, 000 5yr old and older 20,000 The cost to get your first win is way greater than any of these figures but will have owners and trainers chasing them. As John Dunn told me the top looks after itself.
-
As an owner why would you have a horse if you can't be there to watch it . Southland are definitely on a hiding to nothing with there dates, maybe they could use some of that Forbury money to get some lights and run some meetings twilight when working owners can attend. P.s don't run them at night in winter.
-
Peter Profit continues his irrational crusade against the Dunn's.
Westview replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Trotting Chat
For at least the last ten years that I have been going to Woodend I have never seen a horse go out without a cover on , winter to keep them warm and dry , summer to keep the sun off with light weight covers.HRNZ visit all Stables regularly, next time you are at any race meeting go and have a close look at their horse's then go find profit and smack him in the nose for publishing utter crap.
