  1. At least your up front with your Robert Dunn statement ' I don't know ' Robert hasn't been on the HRNZ board for close to a year. This concept is a Jamie McKinnon idea , yes I have a horse up there Bounce n beyond and we did target the series. The concept is close to the jewels which i personally like but with a bit more emphasis on getting points for starting alone. Unfortunately again there has been little publicity but i would rather throw money at this 10 race series with qualifying over months than a two race slot night.
  2. Probably not a great spectacle but nine happy winning owners and 18 placed horse's. Race those horse's any other day and I'm picking they would struggle.
  3. Not this year they haven't
  4. Diamond Racing Stables takes out premiership, well in Tab's eyes anyway.
  5. As an industry or sport we seem to have an obsession with breeding bonuses in the hope that breeding more horse's will make people race more North and South, i see that as flawed. Surely supply and demand the first principle in every other business applies here, why not focus on promoting ownership opportunities throughout the country Nah makes to much sense I'll give myself an uppercut.
  6. As we all know Kaikoura struggle for numbers on both their day's, in a effort to elevate the problem Methven targeted low rating horses, ran race's over short distances, gave the option to Kaikoura to close off their fields before Methven, reduced stakes. I'm not really sure what else we could do other than not racing on the Friday night but where would all the horses go that wouldn't get a start. There is currently a hrnz survey out to find out why trainers don't what to race there they should be asking the owners as well in my opinion but unfortunately they don't seem to get consulted on anything.
  7. Yeah not good for the club
  8. I've got a picture somewhere
  9. We absolutely need Michael House to continue racing at Manawatu as you say without him meetings could be abandoned. I see the Telfers are headed down for this meeting where are the rest of the North Island trainers or is there to much racing at Cambridge or as Brodie has stated are there enough horses up there
  10. Value for money fantastic, best team finished second unfortunately, absolutely need more of these competitions.
  11. Well that makes me feel so much better as I say I think I'll stick to the trots and the Aussie gallops now and then.
  12. I'm picking the starter still expects to be paid, as I say don't bet much on gallops where do you see the Stipes report on trackside they went back to the start and said looked like jockey wasn't in saddle.
  13. Did you see the starter let them go without a driver in the cart
  14. How is that not a late scratching, will be interested to see a Stipe report but from someone that doesn't follow the gallops much and talking through his pocket I think I'll stick to trotts and occasional bets on the Aussie gallops, NZ now on the list.
  15. The club has no input into dates, don't blame hard working club volunteers
  16. Well with significantly lower stakes and starting earlier in the afternoon the turnover was bigger than Auckland
  17. Wouldn't it be outrageous if mile racing actually suited some horse's and gave the owners a chance of actually winning something? Nah why cater for them at all. What do you actually think all the American bred stallions we are using produce .
  18. About 3.7 at moment we spent about 300,000 on the first few stages of upgrading Stables
  19. We absolutely need three race meeting every week this time of year in canterbury. Owners Don't want to race their horse's where it's not handy to go watch them, don't figure lol.
  20. Stakes are governed by hrnz, we are bulk funded with part of that allocation being for stakes which is what we pay out.
  21. Could be worse although Kaikoura sunday has the fast 10 treatment 20 minute intervals ( great ) it draws the short straw with the meeting Kicking off at 3.48 ( madness).
  22. On the money galah.
  23. This time of year it is clear that we need three race meetings weekly in the Canterbury area , as an owner we have four racing this week on friday night and one at the trials because there isn't a local race suited. No money at trials but another week of training fees.
