Hi Rangi,
We are getting in touch with you about a change in policy for TAB account holders. While this change may not affect you now or into the future, we encourage you to read through in case your circumstances change.
What is the change?
At the TAB, we have legal obligations we have to meet that prevent us from offering our services in certain countries. This includes countries where offshore betting is not allowed, or countries where our betting provider prevents us from offering our services. We also have obligations under the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009 (AML/CFT Act for short) and we constantly review our systems and processes to ensure that we don’t breach any of our obligations.
This means we must be able to identify our customers, know their addresses and, in some cases, know the sources of our customers’ funds.
So we can meet our obligations, we made a change on 27 September 2022. New customers will only be able to sign up for an account if their residential address is located in New Zealand (and the dependent territories of Niue, Cook Islands and Tokelau) and Australia. What does this mean for me?
If you live in New Zealand (and the dependent territories of Niue, Cook Islands and Tokelau) and Australia, you don’t need to do anything. However, if you were to move to a country outside of these, then we may no longer be able to offer our services to you How would you know I have moved?
As part of our AML/CFT obligations, we require our customers to reconfirm their ID and proof of address periodically.
If you would like to know more about the countries we offer our services in, you can find this on our website.
Kind regards,
The TAB Team
