My first racecourse/betting experiences were summer holiday trips from Tahunanui Beach Camp to the Richmond Equalisator Trots first thing in the new year. I remember once going to an equalization dog meeting somewhere in Marshlands. There was a thrill in watching the horse I had drawn race. It was a good family day out with other known families.
