  1. I think you mean me - we dont like the name he was given but we had Sarah Palin for her first 6 wins and she was like a cash flow card and developed a cult following at the end. The Don got too far back from the second line - had plenty left when he galloped and will take a lot of improvement from the run.
  2. Trialing Friday at Winton
  3. Trained with his father Clarrie and had some real nice horses as pointed out above. Walk Alone and the roan Stroll Away were my favorites when I first got hooked, Ricky helps train with him now but it stops there with his boys being agritcultural contractors and never in to the horses
  4. yes - the others say DEAD Our Monty is in a huge paddock south of Oamaru in a home for life which is the ideal outcome - one of the local syndicate members goes to visit and brush him
  5. retired to a good home hopefully
  6. now you have annoyed me - Graham Brown set a yearling record in a time trial and because he was by Assault my first horse was by the same top stallion - shit i got that wrong - never raced of course - didnt improve much with my second by Card Shark - much better now with the 3rd fav in the Group 1 trot tomorrow 🙂
  7. Here is one who raced for a long time and 4 trainers after being sold at 3yo
  8. has raced before they actually turn 2 (have their birthday not the Aug 1 date) - I'm sure the rules were changed as wasnt allowed in the past
  9. I cant think of another open class one - they dont normally go on past 2 and 3 - and seeing how he drove this years one at Mot you can see why - there was a breeders assn survey about changing racing season to match Aussie - Alan Clarks 2yo's would vote yes
  10. Constar was pretty good
  11. Constar was pretty good
  12. only a nose from Winterfell in the Interdominion Grand Final and after not taking the passing lane - stays Ok - just been a case of others staying one better.
  13. Will win all his races. Some under protest 🙂
  14. thanks mate - all the doubters when I purchased his dam for the princely sum of $1500 werent right - and yes the Williamsons are so good to our syndicate. Our treat to Phil - flying him home for Xmas day when he hadnt originally planned to.
  15. shit no 🙂 Canterbury NZ for me - and we have the same source for the info - best inside info to all the cheating
  16. did you watch the race - the horse following C31 pulls out 3 wide to attack then swings wider and lets the next one come inside to have a "go" while it then drifts back to last and then tucked away on the fence - that driver will get time blatant cheating and if you are mad enough to race a horse in Australia then you get what you deserve - and we do in Victoria So many trotters improve lengths from where they were when in NZ and owned by one man and trained for him by the same trainer. Mind you he did own the dual Cup winner won as an old horse so has always been dodgy
  17. Late scratching means 3 divis
  18. Brad 🙂 Phil hasnt won the Interdominion and that was the one he wanted. I've run second beaten a nose before with Castleton's Mission with Mickee celebrating his win with a salute. Ants had a bigger nose.
  19. Eric was the last trainer of my mare and dam of Majestic Man - she went over the fence at the Waimate Racecourse with the cart on and got cast half way. couldnt go forward or back and someone suggested cutting the harness off her - Eric wouldnt have a bar of that as it was his best gear - he got her over and she raced later that week in probably her last start as that affected her.
  20. well thats what they get for changing to a 3 and 4 year old race - why would 3yos bother?
  21. the rules are pretty clear - Destiny Jones was placed in Group 1 races last season and stays high in the rankings because of that - we were just pleased that Dark Horse is above the cut off if 3 horses below her were placed on Cup Day
  22. Brodie needed evidence - here it is well after the race on 62 and no doggie race - actually shows a very happy breeder of the winner shaking hands with Phil - I'm still smiling after the win - having grown up in Ashburton and attending races since the 70's that Trotters Flying Mile is one of my "want to win" races as have already done the Hambletonian with Castleton's Mission.
  23. thanks Dougie - huge thrill - Matty will have to be on for FFA as Brad probably starting Cracker Hill. so many "experts" told me not to bother with the mare - she left two winners in two days and soooo close to NZ Record on a cold day on a damp track
  24. Bugger - should have flown Brad down - he didnt relax for Matty and was gone on the corner
  25. Stridemaster had her last mile in 1.57 and change fresh up after 6 weeks - she will improve from that we lost her 4yo half a week or so ago - broke his leg and couldnt be saved - gutted and that was after losing the Muscle Hill from the same family but at least she can be bred from
