  4. I have been privileged to have travelled widely! never for me were the so call Great Church's of the World! No for me, it was (and still is) the Great Sports and Racing Stands!!!! I would visit them be the Full or empty! The come and go. Sadly on of NZ Best, RIP sigh, the once Great, as the sun sinks into the.... actually! might just be storm clouds on the horizon!

  7. TAB offers $10 million prize for picking result of Australasia’s richest horse race, The Everest Stuff sports reporters October 01, 2024 • 05:00am Share I Wish I Win, seen here winning the Kingsford Smith Cup in Brisbane in June, will line up again in the Trackside Media slot in this year’s A$20m edition of The Everest, after running a close second to Think About It at Randwick last year. Grant Peters New Zealand’s richest, but also most complicated, pick the result competition is returning for a second year. When the TAB offered a $10 million prize for anyone who could correctly predict the finishing order of the 12 runners in the 2023 edition of Australia’s richest race, The Everest, few people gave the jackpot pool a chance of being struck. But one lucky Auckland punter nailed it, selecting all 12 horses in the exact finishing order to become $10m better off in what was the New Zealand TAB’s largest ever payout. Entain New Zealand (TAB) managing director Cameron Rodger was surprised when the inaugural edition of the Mega Millions, as the TAB has dubbed it, was struck. With more than 400 million possible results in a 12-horse field, the chances of success in the competition, free to enter for TAB account holders, were seemingly nigh on impossible. “I was pretty blown away to get the call last year that someone had won, but we’re prepared to put up the $10 million to test Kiwis’ ability to conjure up a moment of genius for the second year in a row,” Rodger said. New Zealand’s TAB announced on Tuesday the competition will return for a second year, for the 2024 edition of the A$20 million The Everest. This time around, entries open on October 16, ahead of the A$20 million race at Randwick in Sydney, that features the fastest horse in Australasia racing over 1200m, on Saturday October 19. The TAB (managed by Entain Australia and New Zealand), who is responsible for running the competition and funding the $10m prize pool, have a runner in in the race themselves under the Trackside Media banner with I Wish I Win. Last year the combination finished second behind Think About It. “The presence of I Wish I Win – racing for us in the Trackside Media slot - and Joliestar is already making this edition of the A$20 million The Everest pretty amazing for Kiwis, but imagine if lightning struck twice in two years with this competition?” The Everest Mega Millions competition is free to enter for anyone with a NZ TAB account. If more than one entry correctly picks all 12 horses in finishing order, the life-changing prize will be shared. Horses for The Everest are nominated by slot owners who have paid A$600,000 to secure a slot (starting position) in the race. The slot owner has the right to nominate their own horse for the race, sell their slot or do a deal with the owner of another horse to share the prizemoney. Entries for the competition close 15 minutes before the race jumps on October 19 and will be available here from October 16 when the final field for the race is confirmed.

  9. Fecking joe bidon moment! missed the race live! wow, amusing to see G miss the big run from the back! Wow! I think she might get the 1600m at Ricc @3 now
  10. After putting on my thinking cap about possible newbies?? @TAB For Ever To busy, to high on the official cool aid! Trump is tied up with a election! and a few Court cases! I recon that it is time to sort of jump on the Entain 'sports and racing entertainment' vibe! Hence Vince McMahon!!!! https://www.google.com/search?gs_ssp=eJzj4tTP1TcwLDavMjBg9OIty8xLTlXITc5NzMjPAwBkegg0&q=vince+mcmahon&rlz=1C1CHBF_enNZ913NZ913&oq=wvince&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqDwgBEC4YChiDARixAxiABDIGCAAQRRg5Mg8IARAuGAoYgwEYsQMYgAQyDwgCEAAYChiDARixAxiABDIMCAMQLhgKGLEDGIAEMg8IBBAuGAoYrwEYxwEYgAQyDwgFEC4YChiDARixAxiABDIPCAYQLhgKGK8BGMcBGIAEMgwIBxAuGAoYsQMYgAQyEggIEAAYChiDARixAxiABBiKBdIBCTY3NjNqMGoxNagCCLACAQ&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
  11. sigh,... ps.umm, i think I might have posted up about the 'leading edge' of racing journalism, perhaps, more 'copy writes'...
  12. and another one's gone and another one's gone another one bits the dust <---- No track has ever been overwatered ever... well, we don't count those days that a worker forgot to turn off that spocket! another one bits the duss
  13. The real Power in NZ Racing Politics* I think its important remember that say preceding the big economic changes of the mid 80's, ((a time since when the core working class has got poorer, others, have increase the size of their disposable income, some by quite a lot! Changes have also allowed them a massive increase in where they can spend this x wealth)) it was a time when All Clubs made a profit, there was simple a Add it on the cost, mentality. The end result was always a actual profit! Jump to today! So much smoke and mirrors! Records amount of Propaganda! Lots of Moving Chairs on the Titanic! I feel for any 'innocent' that comes along and thinks they can change things! Colon fit that mould! *NZ Racing Politics, is sort of like a Black Hole, it will suck in anything that gets too close, usually never to be seen again.. It takes a bit of mongrel! or perhaps madness to stay in for a long ride...
  14. some things are slower to change that others.... Back in a day, it might have been harder to get on 'the committee' of the big clubs! than most elected positions in the community! To think it was less that 50 years ago that Wgtn RC had 3000+ on their waiting list! The good old days of blackballing! gee, the in house trough was a sight to behold! Even us in the press room got rather well feed! All alcohol from the freshly stocked liquor cabinet had to be taken home, first choose to the senor scribes!
  15. opps.. just noticed my requotes posting under curious, not so.
  16. sigh, now burst asunder! it will be interesting how much traction this article picks up around the world. they were? A question of ethics? Should Colon have started his approach to this problem with a Official Complaint to MPI? They are well aware of the history of problems at race tracks this century! Any of those 'owners' also Trainers? What has the Owners Fed said? Again? Not reports to MPI
  17. can the put up policy to be voted on? Which use to be pro rata re how many race days?
  18. So who elects them?
  19. If only that small amount of numbers, then doesn't that just make it easier to attempt for a like minded grouping to make a play for Leadership, at least that gets you some hearing at the AGM. I think there is some funny peculiar re ownership around the need of Trainers to have a share is more and more horses. Many can run the risk of ending up waterboarding themselves.. Any Idea who attends the AGM from Owners Fed?
  20. (talking to myself) There were two reasons I posted this up! 1: It was rather interesting to see a Worker From HO putting their hand up and commenting on a Group page like Race Chat! 2: It was to show Colons actual level of Political 'Realpolitik', note how he was told how to get involved in a Official/democratic way! He shows his stripes (gutless) with his shallow after rant!! Please tell if I am Wrong, would it not be actually on of the easiest groups (Owners Ass) to just take over 'democratically' via a digital campaign to get actual members to front and vote in the likes of a Colon, or others of their championing! Democracy in Action
  21. Who's to say that those two tracks don't have issues as well? Perhaps not so nowadays with the wonderful HD Coverage of any slip sliding away... old school! race and be dammed...
  22. Propaganda rules! Would there be a 'Industry' that is current more driven that Racing? One Big 'real world problem', that is never mentioned! is, for a scary amount of NZ'ers, the % of disposable income continues to shrink! be it via inflation, etc.... and then that ever problem within horse race betting that the House is encouraging betting into high take out, some interesting stuff now on that out of Au. lol! gee, Would be rather nice to have a decent track or two to be into! ps. I recon, soon, working on any track for any keen young 'track worker' (especially ones with Degrees) that having a job on a race track will be seen as a bit of a poison chalice! If you are keen for that sort of work, then like so many Racing Workers, its Over the Ditch!
  23. slip sliding away... that Faustian pack with the weather gods is just not going to work! Demanding a X track is now the curse of the Industry!
  24. a deep shock in a hot bath, has helped! deciding to move some of the punting pool into next years travel fun! why make the effort to try and sort the form... sigh
