  1. So in your opinion, why does Tiered racing work in Australia? One day a horse could be racing for $35, next time for $100k still in its grade?
  2. Time as in race times and sectional times as a compariosn of perfomance? Can you share some of the relative time data? Can I ask why your data compares an "average R65" to a "standard R65"? Is the NZ Tiered Stakes funding perfect? Far from it. But racing is a professional sport and Tiers should play a part as with all professional sports.
  3. Patrick Erin is a great example of a horse with ability been sent to Sydney to race for higher Tiered Prize money! Why would many of the "high class" Northerners be competitive in Aussie? Northern pool of horses is inferior to Aussie pool hence they race in their Tier of prize money in Auckland. And when any NZ trained horse shows it has the ability to race and be competitive in AUssie, they are sent over to compete for the better prize money. Can you list the northern rejects Piity has taken back north to kick butt?
  4. Agreed that the horse is the same creature whether it be trained in Southland or Auckland. But the ability of the pool of horses it's racing against in Southland is inferior to the ability of the pool of horses it was racing against in Auckland which would affect it's chances of moving up in grade. How many Southland horses are exported to Auckland for the better tiered prize money?
  5. I disagree. Auckland to Invercargill is a 1635km geographical separation. The Southland horse population is inferior on ability to the Northern horse population. The amount of "Ex northerners" who aren't competitive in the north but win once transferred to the south is evidence of this. If Southland had the same Saturday Tier 1A prize money, the northern horses would be sent down to raid the prize money and leave nothng for the locals, as is evidenced with the success rate of northern horses that are sent down to get black type in the Southland region. In Australia, D Weir travels his horses all over Victoria, racing in all tiers. Does he charge owners differently for the horses he starts in the city to those he starts in the lower tiers? He places his horses, based on ability not based on associated costs. I could list numerous trainers from VIC and NSW who race thier horses at all tier levels, based on the horses' ability and not geography or associated costs. Racing is a sport afterall; so the better horses should race for better prize money and the inferior horses should be be allowed opportunities to win at their level.
  6. Strange that it's racing in Hogan's colours when Peter Moody signed for it at 300k ?
  7. Are the RIU going to check the stipes at Auckland for betting irregularities or bets they may have had family, friends or associates place? Tonight's decision is so appalling it deserves scrutiny! Or does Joe pubic have to make a complaint to Police for match fixing cause the decision does equate to Match Fixing!
  8. The Box Seat episode after the NZ Cup stand start fiasco. I haven't had a bet on a NZ harness race since the Chief Stipe said that.
  9. Um did you expect QUALITY policing from the RIU Harness stipes? When the Chief stipe Ydgren tells Guerin on The Box seat: "That it doesn't matter if some horses walk up or some horses stand still because what matters is all runners get away without breaking". He should just apply to change the Stand start to a Circus start. No wonder punters are deserting the Harness code in droves!
  10. What makes you think John Gosden wouldn't? UK has 5 AW tracks and Gosden has had runners at ALL courses. For the 2018 season, Gosden has started runners of all ages 248 times on the AW tracks for 70 wins. 3.5 S/R or 28% win rate.
  11. Maybe you should start betting into the massive Hong Kong tote pools. No restrictions there!

    Lochinvar Hugo

Superstar? He was a fast NSW provincial track dog, who has raced over the longer distances in the 2nd half of his career. But now eligible for Masters races so can't keep up with the younger staying dogs at Wenty. Comes to NZ with no racing offences, so maybe the finish on lure and new environment will yield more wins. NZ C4+ prize money for 500m+ and distance racing is better then NSW provincial money.
  13. That half decent nag ENABLE had her very first start as a 2yo over 1600m on the Newcastle Tapeta track. Also, her first run of 2018 was on the Kempton polytrack before winning her 2nd Arc and then the Breeders Cup. If one of the world's best trainers is happy to run ENABLE on AW tracks, then surely they can't be that bad?
  14. Yes they are Presumed Innoncent. But I'm presuming that the Police Survellance and Investigation is going to be right.
  15. The RIU didn't provide sufficent evidence because the Police hadn't disclosed the evidence. The Review Hearing where evidence was to be presented has been pushed back to March 2019. Still PRESUMED INNOCENT yeah nah. The ACCUSED draw so many parallels to the recent Australian Match Fixing case involving Nathan Jack and Mark Pitt. Both Jack and Pitt fit Mark Purdon's descripton on his Public Statement: Young and successful men, at the top of the Harness game who looked out of place in a Court Room. Both Jack and Pitt who told all and sundry that they were innocent DESPITE Pollice Surveillance, so they could continue to participate in the Harness Sport for 18 months without conscience. Both Jack and Pitt were subsequently found GUILTY by the Courts. Both then APPEALED so because Innocent Until Proven guilty; both then got their lawyers to ask for a Stay of Procedings to continue to particpate in the Harness Sport for another 15+ months until the Appeal Hearing March 2020 because of course: Innocent Until Proven Guilty. Thank goodness RAD put the Sport first and banned them until the Appeal Hearing. The New Zealand Accused seem to be successfully getting the same Legal advice as Jack and Pitt. I'll put my confidence in the Police Surveillance and Investigation rather than those who are playing the Legal system to benefit as long as they can. But yes, until then Innocent until proven Guilty.
  16. Why good on them? They aren't under suspicion, they are ACCUSED based on surveillance and evidence.
  17. Of course he has gone quiet! Because this time POLICE SURVEILLANCE is involved ?
  18. There have been MANY cricketers banned for match fixing. How is this obviously a test case for the RIU? This is a POLICE investigation of criminal offending and charges have been brought before the NZ Courts. It is not the RIU's jurisdiction to deal with Criminal Offending.
  19. They all look like really well bred dogs so I don't get the point you arae trying to make?
  20. 2019 Book 1 numbers (2018 in brackets) I Am Invincible 4 (3) Snitzel 3 (4) Zoustar 5 (4) So unfortunately no real difference to fill Fastnet's lack of numbers. I agree that apart from Savabeel, hard to see any other NZ based stallions in demand. The 84 Tavistocks are a huge over supply for a stallion trending downwards in NZ's biggest market, Australia.

    Weslyn

A C Roberts is listed as her trainer. If trainers can train the International horses based in Melbourne, from Europe; then it will be easy peasy for Roberts to train a greyhound from Christchurch ?

    Weslyn

Dyna Weslyn back to her best! Thumped Black Impala(G1 Hume Cup winner and G1 Bold Trease runner up) by 8 lengths at the Meadows on Saturday night! https://fasttrack.grv.org.au/RaceVideo/RaceVideo/386961882
  23. Warriors have an amazing talent in 19 year old Channel Harris-Tavita. He could be anything. If he's given the chance like Nathan Cleary was, Warriors fans will be: Shaun Johnson who? ?
  24. I would think the stud fee would also play a part in the numbers. Since NZB moved to the new Book 1 format last year, they have to fill the numbers somehow. Justifying the "Quality" of Book 1 with more stock by a $30k stailion is more marketable than stock by a $15k stallion. Book 1 by the numbers: Savabeel(100k) 71 lots Tavistock(65k) 84 Lots Ocean park(30k) 41 Lots Sacred Falls(30k) 54 Lots Iffraaj(25k) 29 Lots Only 3 Fastnet Rocks compared to 12 which averaged $394,167 Karaka Book 1 sales is not looking good at all. I would be expecting all key sales figues to finish downwards.
  25. Well to be fair, he's not riding against much opposition except when the Northerners travel down ???
