  1. Not disputing that, but it must have the next levels, as per Aus. There is a very loud anti chorus on these social media sites towards racing in Auck/Waikato. In fact there seems to be a very loud chorus towards any initiatives that are made, much of it based on idle speculation. Does anyone really know the reasons for, the mistakes made in laying a new track at Awapuni, why nothing happened at HB for so long, why the Ellerslie track has its early problems I don't mean idle speculation but facts,
  2. Remember though, Entain's focus is on promoting wagering, not racing
  3. Then work out an innovative way of promoting racing in this country
  4. I think this point has some merit, but NZ racing having a 'cottage industry' approach is a strategy for failure. Despite the technical issues at Ellerslie, Awapuni, Hawkes Bay and wherever else, people in the industry need to move on and get in behind and support the establishment of top class facilities at these key main racing centres
  5. Many other industries have gone ahead in leaps and bounds when this has been introduced and a new brand developed and marketed. Zespri, Fonterra
  6. Simple conclusion Despite all the assertions to the contrary, does anyone really know how good a young horse will be until it is tested on a racetrack under race conditions. Even someone like David Ellis would acknowledge this. He buys a lot of horses, some turn out to be group winners, but a lot don't do much
  7. No, CS might help though
  8. It can be done, as I said NZB Filly of the Year, Leica Lucy cost the Crofskey's $5,000 to breed, the cost of the service to Derryn. Before that 2013 Derby winner Habibi cost $15,000, Ekraar's service fee
  9. I don't think he was banned, just couldn't be bothered with the usual social media nonsense so took his leave and never returned
  10. Here is his (TAB4Ever) post from Sept 18 on here talking about Arthur Lydiard and Sir Peter Snell, when it was not widely known that he was Gary Williams For a time I worked in Winstones Head Office at top of Symonds St /Khyber Pass .I had a desk where there were just temporary like barriers between rooms and Arthur was right next door. After having to go abroad for employment ,Winstones gave him a job in PR as an Ambassador and I sat and listened to him advising and discussing tactics with Athletes. ! Often chatted do him in the lunch room where he often played indoor bowls. ! Then about 2017 in Auckland the World Masters Sports event was on with over 20,000 people competing...I believe mikeyNZ from down south was involved in the oyster shukking , I was involved with Basketball and Table Tennis and Sir Peter Snell and his wife played in the Table Tennis . I always considered him NZ's greatest ever Sportsman so it was great to chat away with him !
  11. No, Huey Lewis and the News hahaha Well, I thought it was funny
  12. NZTR have actually built a brand, quite a nice one too, called Love Racing. But it is intra industry, so largely a waste of time as a promotion of the industry
  13. I've always maintained that the reason racing started to go downhill, has been the lack of concerted marketing and promotion each year, to present racing to each new generation (they have missed 3 now) and build a nationwide brand. It has been happening since the 90's, when sports like rugby, casinos and Lotto started actively marketing their product to the mases to capture that disposable dollar. At the time, it was full on, on what was the only medium, mainstream media Racing never competed to retain their share of the market, that they had a good hold on still in the 90's. Marketing 101, if you don't market and promote your product for 30+ years, you are going to suffer. The Grand Tour is the right idea, but it is mainly marketed to those already aware of racing, not to potential new customers, so fails as a marketing and promotion strategy
  14. You know he owns a part share in a current multiple group winning horse
  15. I actually agree with you, it is a cop out, and reading up about RCP, the bill will be 7 figures. Wasn't aware the mafia were in NZ though
  16. They are not grizzling like most of the malcontents on social media they are getting on with running their business. I thought that was pretty obvious
  17. Looks can be deceiving. Anyone who regularly spends time on social media sites, could be forgiven for thinking everything is negative, because 90% of the posts are people bitching about something. The jockeys, presenters, journalists, no one is immune to the keyboard 'experts' But what about all those people in the industry who are getting on with the business of owning and training horses in a climate of the highest stakes NZ racing has ever experienced
  18. NZTR did a venue plan, most of which was incorporated into the Messara Report
  19. Pete Lane does a lot of reviewing of videos and comes up with some nice value winners on regular occasions. Sunday at Waipukurau with Sunshine Ale at 21's
  20. Part time breeders can still put a good horse together if they do their research. The Crofskey's did so with Leica Lucy, for the cost of a service fee to Derryn at $5K
  21. According to Chatgpt that is correct He was bought at a Wanganui Hunt Club mixed sale, for $1000 where they mostly sold hacks and farm horses. Snow Lupton always joked he “wasn’t sure if he’d bought a racehorse or a ride-on.”
  22. Be good if there was a site where you can look at 1. Total distance run as compared to the distance of the race 2. The track each horse has taken during the race Should be able to be done with GPS We hear claims that barriers don't matter, sitting wide through a race etc etc. This would allow for further examination of that and what correlation there was if any
