So you will be asking for how much lead is carried to be declared in the interests of punters?
-
Oatham doesn't seem that bright. "A generally accepted fact." I thought a fact was a fact - no question. Although he can be excused for being confused as "1kg equals 1 length" is garbage.
-
Weird. I guess he has joined the exclusive breeders club and stuff the workers!

The rumours are that Mesara has found some serious shyte to deal to. Anyone else heard the same?
-
The word on the street is that the TAB (NZRB) is in dire financial trouble. $30+ million spent on the new betting platform, more to be sunk in and unlikely to be running before the end of October. Plus the reserves have gone having been spent on the increased stakes promise with no increase in revenue. Anyone else heard these rumours? The Government will probably have to bail them out or underwrite any further lending.

Philip Quay a world leader in social media. LOL.

For a start what serious punter listens to Trackside "experts"? They like to have a punt themselves and invariably they tend to prove most days they aren't expert. As for publishing the "30 readings" how could they sensibly do that? Each reading would have to be associated with its track location. Would you prefer GPS latitude and longitude or a guess by the measurer? Now I presume to get exact location you'd want it down to degree seconds? How many decima places? Why not just post 4 figures - home straight average and variance, rest of track average and variance? As the stats show it doesn't seem to matter what barrier is drawn.
-
Not I don't believe it is that simple. If you look at the barrier win statistics there is no significant variance between fast/dead and slow/heavy tracks. If you have a horse that jumps well and leads it is easy to dictate where on the track everyone races. So if the punter knows there is a "fast lane" how do they pick the horse that is going to get to it first?
-
I don't understand how knowing if there is a differential across the track can improve your chances unless the jockey on your horse knows. If he or she doesn't know where the 'best lane" is then it doesn't matter a diddly squat that the punter knows. In saying that I can't say I've seen 20 or so jocks walking the track before the first at any meeting I've attended.
-
So from a practical perspective how will this work? If the running lane for a horse is 2m then are you expecting penetrometer readings for every 2m across the track from the top of the straight to the finish line? How would you portray this to punters?
-
Just like those horses racing behind Justify in the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness? Bring on the All Weather Tracks they are going to make punting easy!
-
So how do you get the message to the jockey on the horse you have punted on, who hasn't walked the track? In any event the key is consistency. Also they should be able to give a correct reading BEFORE the first race rather than changing the track rating drastically after the first or second race.

Your numbers don't add up. Well the one's you have provided anyway.
-
LOL I just read this thread an the Advertisement for the top of the page was for Eukanuba dog food!!!!!!
-
Your numbers now don't make sense. 1.3m hits as Pete and I have pointed out is pretty meaningless. Plus there is no indication in terms of visible site activity that there are other 30 individual visitors per hour every hour of the day.
-
It's a meaningless statistic Wolfman. What are hits? 1.3m "hits" equal 1,800 "hits" an hour every day. A hit is every time a script, image, font etc is loaded when a page is visited. There are numerous tools on the net that show how many "hits" a particular page generates. Most sites generate around 50 or more. Therefore about 32 separate pages per hour are being visited by real and not so real users (e.g. bots, spammers etc.). Now if the average user looks at say 10 threads then, not even counting bots, that's 3 people an hour! Yes THREE PEOPLE AN HOUR visiting.

Education is a problem. Most of them are contractors and so the normal employer responsibility is not quite the same. Perhaps NZTR could do more on the education and training side. Many were probably wagging school when the Life Education bus came round. I understand P suppresses the appetite and increases energy levels so it would be an aid to those struggling with weight. RIU are the enforcers of the rules it is up to NZTR to educate. I see they have a health and welfare policy for horses. Do they have one for track riders and stable hands? Freda were any trainers tested?

NZRB and NZTR Agree to Immediately Fund Four All Weather Tracks
Boxie replied to Boxie's topic in Galloping Chat
So they can change the agreement as under the Racing Act the distribution can be assigned to anything can't it? -
NZRB and NZTR Agree to Immediately Fund Four All Weather Tracks
Boxie replied to Boxie's topic in Galloping Chat
Why does it "have to be used for stakes"? -
NZRB and NZTR have come to an agreement that in lieu of stakes increases currently being funded out of NZRB reserves the money will be spent on four new all weather tracks. The total amount is $25 million which equates to a similar amount distributed so far in the last 18 months to paying for stake increases. The Trainers Association and Owners and Breeders have welcomed this long overdue move. There is no point racing for poor stakes when the tracks are not up to scratch. Te Akau and Pencarrow have also pledged their recently announced increases in tax rebates to the cause.

It's not even new but a change in interpretation of an existing tax break.

It appears after Saturday that the Trainers Association President doesn't even know the rules of racing.... -
Tony Pike's Horses Scratched at Doomben for Late Treatment
Boxie replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
Curious from what I understand the rule is quite clear and the same as OZ. If you are going to administer an alkalising agent you have until 12:01am on Friday if your horse is racing on the Saturday. Now I don't know many trainers that fast work on a Thursday and given the fact that to get the full benefit from an alkalsing agent you need to give it soon after the hard workout. A shame that the owners have copped it for two horses costs in listed 100k races. -
