That's why bringing him back to 1600m and chucking the blinkers on was a great move. Worked didn't it. -

Punters screwed again? Retrospective Track downgrade!
All The Aces replied to Trojan's topic in Galloping Chat
Surely it is not rocket science. Club: Racing Te Aroha Date: Wednesday, 30 October 2024 Weather: Showery Track: Soft 5, downgraded to Soft 6 retrospective to Race 1, Soft 7 retrospective to Race 2, Heavy 8 following the James & Annie Sarten Memorial What does it say the weather was like? Answer "Showery" If they had some heavy showers after scratching time then obviously the track will deteriorate or do people stand out on the track with umbrellas? Looking at the times of the races suggest it wasn't too bad. The three mdn 1400m R3 R4 R9 were all 1:26. -
Bounding and Fix were a couple the Kelso's trained.
-
Normal practice is to gallop one or two only.
-
The fastest first 400m won six of the 8.
-
Track was a Heavy 8, Compare to the previous meeting on 20 September on a Soft 7 where only 1 leader won.
-
Not a tempo issue. Really? 8 from 10 with only one winner coming from the back with an inside run.

I notice your topic re Caulfield track bias but no mention of the bias at Taupo last Friday where from 10 races 8 leaders won. Dummy Myer's runners won the other two, one over 2600m and the other Kopua over 1400m coming from back in the field but with an inside run on the better ground. If my information is correct a number of horses were allowed to gallop on the course proper the day prior with one trainer having well over 10 galloing there and other trainers also having horses gallop. (I assume that they couldn't gallop on the rail.) One trainer who was there and noticed how chopped up the track was after the gallops scratched his runners for the Friday. There certainly was an inside rail leader bias on what must have been better ground.

I hear Jilly Cooper is very interested in the story line though. She believes it could make into another best seller for her. -

If she had finished out of the top four she would have been scratched and bets refunded. -
LIVAMOL TO TE RAPA Follow the partial abandonment of Saturday’s meeting at Hastings, New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing (NZTR) has made the decision to move the Saturday 12 October raceday and Group 1 Livamol Classic to Te Rapa. The move of the Group races is still subject to final Pattern Committee approval. The Saturday 28 September Group 1 Arrowfield Stud Plate meeting at Hastings was partially abandoned following a horse slipping in the first race. Post abandonment work was carried out to the area of concern past the winning post and a set of jumpouts were held on Monday at the track. The jumpouts went without incident with several senior riders in attendance. A risk assessment was undertaken by NZTR management into, not only the safety of the track, but whether the industry could risk further damage should the worst happen given the tracks recent history. “NZTR Board and management have carefully considered the remedial work that was completed on the track. After assessing all aspects of the situation, management believe it will pose considerable financial and reputational risk to the industry in the event of another abandonment at the same venue. Given the limited time to thoroughly test the track, the difficult decision was made to move the meeting to Te Rapa.” - Darin Balcombe, NZTR COO “NZTR understand the devastating impact this will have on the Hawke’s Bay Club and region, and we will work with the Club over the coming weeks to provide support and identify a pathway forward.” NZTR recognise the significance of this decision for Hawkes Bay Racing. However, the transfer will give industry participants certainty that a day of this importance to the industry can move forward without any apprehension. “NZTR is committed to the long-term sustainability and safety of our racing operations and intend to return racing to the Hawke’s Bay.”

I hope they are better eqipped to manage the track than what they are maths. Irrigation 14mm applied last 7 days. They put on 5mm as shown on Monday and another 10mm as shown on Wednesday
-
Where do you get that from. Only some showers forecast. A brief shower or two in the morning; otherwise, cooler with some sun, then turning cloudy
-
They irrigated today.

Another beauty day here in Hastings with the temperature in the low 20s. Follows a fine day yesterday with very strong winds and with a pretty good week weatherwise we should have a good track on Saturday.

He has had plenty of media experience on radio and tv. The problem is that what he knows about racing he could write on the back of a postage stamp. Mick Guerin carried him on SENZ radio and Emily has carried him today. You would have thought Entain would have brought in someone with more indepth racing knowledge and expertise for Saturday viewing. We have some big Saturday's coming up over the next few months so surely Entain can do better.

Track very firm at Riccarton today. Can anyone tell me what value Guy Heveldt has added to the studio presentation today. Seems like a fish out of water.

Where the hell are the cup week noms that closed at 4pm today?

30 heats carded for the Waipa trials yesterday with a lot of horses not even being able to get a start, so plenty of demand. They then get canned due to supposed bad weather early in the morning. Waipa only had rain from 7am to 9am and from there on it was fine for the rest of the day. Go figure. It will be interesting to see how many will pay up for the Friday trials at Cambridge. A set of trials on the Synthetic at Cambridge has been scheduled for Friday 30 August. Nominations for this meeting will close at noon on Thursday 29 August. The Waipa trials abandoned today will be staged on either the grass at Waipa or the Synthetic at Cambridge next Tuesday. There is circa 50mm of rain predicted over the next 7 days at Waipa and if this comes to pass then the track there would again be unsuitable to trial on. A decision, based on the weather that has transpired and what is predicted will be made by noon Sunday September 1. While far from ideal this approach is the most open and transparent given the current and predicted rainfall situation. Nominations for the chosen venue will close the day prior at 12 noon.
