  1. He has had plenty of media experience on radio and tv. The problem is that what he knows about racing he could write on the back of a postage stamp. Mick Guerin carried him on SENZ radio and Emily has carried him today. You would have thought Entain would have brought in someone with more indepth racing knowledge and expertise for Saturday viewing. We have some big Saturday's coming up over the next few months so surely Entain can do better.
  2. Track very firm at Riccarton today. Can anyone tell me what value Guy Heveldt has added to the studio presentation today. Seems like a fish out of water.
  3. Too many trials available!!! Trainers are screaming out for grass trials in the Waikato as eveidenced by the 30 heats at Waipa on Tuesday with a host of horses eliminated and unable to get a run.
  4. 30 heats carded for the Waipa trials yesterday with a lot of horses not even being able to get a start, so plenty of demand. They then get canned due to supposed bad weather early in the morning. Waipa only had rain from 7am to 9am and from there on it was fine for the rest of the day. Go figure. It will be interesting to see how many will pay up for the Friday trials at Cambridge. A set of trials on the Synthetic at Cambridge has been scheduled for Friday 30 August. Nominations for this meeting will close at noon on Thursday 29 August. The Waipa trials abandoned today will be staged on either the grass at Waipa or the Synthetic at Cambridge next Tuesday. There is circa 50mm of rain predicted over the next 7 days at Waipa and if this comes to pass then the track there would again be unsuitable to trial on. A decision, based on the weather that has transpired and what is predicted will be made by noon Sunday September 1. While far from ideal this approach is the most open and transparent given the current and predicted rainfall situation. Nominations for the chosen venue will close the day prior at 12 noon.
  5. The goal has been to have all G1 races on premier tracks. Hence the shift of this race and also the NZ Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes.
  6. NORTHERN: Jonathon Richardson (Trainer: Samantha Logan) CENTRAL: Joanne Pearson (Trainer: Lisa Latta) SOUTHERN: Lexi Porteous (Trainer: Andrew Carston) The Northern winner has made me sit up and take note. Stablehand to Sam Logan who doesn't train many and her team only had a total of 40 starts for the season for 1 win. Interesting.
  7. This person needs to be kicked out of the industry and never be allowed anywhere near animals. Cambridge trainer charged with ‘inflicting undue suffering on a horse’ | Waikato Times
  8. Kennedy average stakes return per ride $7087.10 Opie $12075.06 And that is not even counting the Aussie rides.
  9. As far as I can see there are only 2 realistic chances, Kennedy and Bosson. McNab, Doyle, Grylls and Spratt will get bugger all votes between them. I would vote for Opie He rode his 2000th NZ winner during the season and won 5 G1 races in Australia along with 12 stakes races here including 3 G1s. Strike rate of 3.92 also.
  10. Correct. One is for the winning the premiership which is automatic ie it is decided already and the other is by panel vote.
  11. The Cossack R75 2200m at Hastings last year.
  12. Lisa Allpress interviewed on SENZ a short time ago. She rode on a gallop on the New Plymouth track this morning and said she was happy with the track and the wrong call has been made in abandoning.
  13. Punter Of The Year is usually Livamol Day at Hastings.
  14. So are a few after the last every race day.
  15. That should read 7 or 8 male finalists.
  16. So the finalists have been named 29 of them. Looking at the names it appears that there are only 7 or 8 males nominated which illustrates the point I have made earlier that women are able to compete on equal footing in this industry It also further illustrates why the need for a special codescending sexist National Women of The Year Award which leaves out the males, rather than having an overall National Winner with everyone eligible.
  17. Looks like Eddie Lamb on the inside. The grey horse for Murray Baker I think wins the race.
  18. Trained by Leonard Stewart who turns 92 this month.
  19. I couldn't be bothered to scroll through old results to look. As I mentioned it has been done a few times in NZ. Today with Moodley riding 5 winners it brought to mind Hazel Schofer winning 6 at Hawera on 8 August 2020. 12 races that day and the female riders rode the card. Whilst Hazel and Sharrock who trained 6 winners got a mention there was nothing said about all 12 races being won by females. As I said it doesn't rate a mention hence without scrolling through old results you will find nothing. It's old hat.
  20. This is UK based study not New Zealand based and has no relevance to what happens here. We are talking about a NZ Award. Still waiting for you to provide evidence that women aren't able to compete on equal footing in NZ in this industry.
  21. You keep giving me opinions and feelings and counter your case re the wagering aspect two posts ago by showing women riders are not inferior. This is 2024 not 1974 and you haven'y yet provided any concrete evidence where women can't compete on an equal footing in this industry.
  22. What bigotry? I stated "Men and women compete at every level in this industry as equals with equal opportunity and I applaud that that happens." There is no bigotry there. People's comments or thoughts on BOYA have no relevance to what actually happens in the industry. Give me an actual example of where women can't compete equally in this industry and are therefore inferior hence this condescending Award.
