  1. 638(3)(g) Subject to the other requirements this Rule 638(3), in a Flat Race or trial (including jump-outs and/or tests for certification purposes), a Rider must not: strike a horse with a whip in consecutive strides at any stage of the race. Didn't Opie get a suspension for doing so at Ellerslie
  2. Have the whip rules been changed?? Just looking at Chris Dell's use of the whip in the final stages of R8 at Awapuni yesterday on Zola Express. Nothing at all in the Stewards Report.
  3. Will be stupid putting the 3yo Oaks Prelude at Tauherekikau on Monday. Eleven of the thirteen runners are from the Waikato and would have had a nine hour float trip today down to New Plymouth and back. Then on Monday they would have to travel to Tauherenikau and back which is a lot further. There will be nothing left of them heading towards the NZ Oaks at Wellington in March.
  4. The problem at Matamata was man made..... sand slitting and filling holes up with sand. I see now that the meeting scheduled for 9th February has been transferred all the way to Ruakaka. wtf!! Whats wrong with Rotorua?
  5. There is one way to make sure the rider's adhere to the current whip rules. Allow a protest to be actioned by the runner up if their rider rode under the rules. Roch 'N' Horses connections were unable to lodge a protest because the rules didn't allow it. Overall I disagree with all the namby pamby whip rules. Flagrant flogging of a horse fair enough fine and suspend them but five times before the 100m and then only every second stride from there on is just rubbish.
  6. Dont know but the Northern stable he was with has had 40 starters for no wins this season. 9 runners at Counties on Monday.
  7. Troy Harris at Hastings on Saturday. Three separate races charged re the whip rules. T Harris (SOLID IMPACT) – Admitted a charge in that he struck his mount SOLID IMPACT six times prior to the 100 metres with the matter being adjourned until tomorrow’s race meeting at Rotorua. T Harris (PALAMOS) – Admitted a charge in that he struck his mount PALAMOS six times prior to the 100 metres with the matter being adjourned until tomorrow’s race meeting at Rotorua T Harris (PRISE DE FER) - Admitted a charge in that he struck his mount PRISE DE FER six times prior to the 100 metres with the matter being adjourned until tomorrow race meeting at Rotorua Suspensions: Race 8 Hawke’s Bay Racing Inc – Saturday, 16 October 2021 T Harris PRISE DE FER Excessive use of the whip [Rule 638(3)(g)(i)] Suspended 18-24/10 inclusive, 5 days and fined as below Fines: Race 3,4, 8 Hawke’s Bay Racing Inc – Saturday, 16 October 2021 T Harris SOLID IMPACT, PALAMOS, PRISE DE FER Excessive use of the whip [Rule 638(3)(g)(i)] $750
  8. I am pretty sure that all the steeplechase fences at Te Aroha are live fences and there was only one fall in the two steeplechase races which was Lacustre.
  9. Ellerslie Hill is definitely to be sold.
  10. Did you notice that the three G1 races at Ellerslie today all the winners wore blinkers. Seven of the ten winners at Ellerslie wore blinkers with another wearing side winkers. Did you see what the difference was when Finest Wine destroyed them at Trentham today. In case you didn't blinkers on for the first time.
  11. Who cares!! We got the money today that's all that matters. It was mentioned after the race at Hastings that she needed ground and blinkers would help.
  12. Oh Dear Rapid Falls First time with blinkers on having first start over ground. Beautiful
  13. SPIRIT OF BAZ (W Pinn) – When questioned regarding the improved performance co-trainer A Forsman advised that the filly had benefitted from the addition of blinkers. Who would have guessed!!
  14. Well it's a bit premature to celebrate before the race and it would be a waste of time putting it up here beforehand because you and others wouldn't take any notice anyway as the use of blinkers is knocked around here. I did my study on Spirit Of Baz and reaped the rewards for doing so. As stated previously I don't tip and why should I when others are able to study the form themselves. My study is for myself not for everybody else.
  15. Spirit Of Baz you beauty. Good trial on the synthetic and then had no luck at all being trapped off the course at Counties from a wide gate. Been working the track down. The inside barrier today with Blinkers going on and hey presto leads all the way at $40s. Thank you for coming. Thank you umpires and thank you ball boys. We shall now adjourn for celebratory drinks. Just a nice little follow up from the last at Riccarton yesterday where they got plenty off Miss Curious when they put the blinkers on for the first time and punted her.
  16. Whip causes Racing Australia tension | RACING.COM
  17. Well if there is no change to the levels Hastings will be racing under Level 2 restrictions. ie no public admission.
  18. Anyway. Looking forward to the Derby being raced here at Hastings where I can watch it live. Barbeque going, beer in hand as they thunder past.
  19. Last time I looked they race the Oaks at Trentham.
  20. With no South Island horses engaged surely it would make much better sense to bring down here to Hastings and race it over 2200m.
  21. Same for the Oaks Don't they have any 3yos in the South Island
  22. I see massive noms again from the South Island for the Derby.
  23. Chief. Are you in denial that blinkers can have a positive effect on a horse?
  24. Bar the first two home the rest of the riders went to sleep in that race. Some poor riding all round.
