  1. No because the Actual race was advertised for $22.5k
  2. The two races that were advertised for Hawera ie the R65 1400m & R65 1600m are both racing for the advertised stake ie $22.500. Had they just left it at those two races then the ones that missed out making the field would be staying at home in their boxes and earning zilch and nobody wins. By adding the two additional races at $10,000 it at least allows them to run for some stake money and also earn the opportunity to earn some extra rating points to help them gain a start next time. Both $10k races are at capacity so it would appear the stake is no deterrent and they are happy to go around. There have been 4 extra races added to the programme when you add in two further maiden1300m races with stakes also at $10k each. That is an extra $40k in stake money going to owners, trainers and jockeys, not a bad result I would have thought.
  3. I was talking with Andre at Awapuni. Racing This Time is Andre's own venture and nothing to do with the TAB.
  4. Come in Curious. Isn't this your local club.
  5. Never did get an answer to this. Does anyone know when the last meeting was held there and why they are not currently racing?
  6. 2 to 3 months is my pick.
  7. When was the last time Foxton had a race meeting?
  8. Whanganui proved yet again when looking at the meeting two weeks ago and today that inside draws on a heavy track there are worthless. There were 23 races run over the two meetings and only one horse drawn inside barrier 5 managed to win and that horse managed to get to the fast lane down the outside fence. Guess who will be laughing his socks off.
  9. • NZTR and RITA are working with Raceform on the supply of racing information including preview and review comments with intention to have the Raceform publication back in the marketplace on 1 August • In addition, NZTR is developing a punters hub on LoveRacing.nz which will be powered by Raceform and include live and trial vision and a PDF copy of the weekly Raceform publication.

  11. 26 June 2020 Dear Clubs, Fibre Connectivity at Race Tracks We have recently fielded queries from some clubs regarding the installation of fibre connectivity. This has stemmed from the announcement that the meetings during the resumption of racing period in June and July would be limited to fibre connected tracks. This meant ALL satellite costs for that month could be avoided. Where confusion has arisen is that the type of connection found in domestic or business premises, is not the fibre connection utilised on race day. RITA works with its network partner (Vocus) to regularly review businesses cases at individual venues and determine whether it makes commercial sense to transition linking from satellite to fibre. The responsibility for fibre linking, and satellite linking costs and logistics at those venues without fibre connectivity, lies with RITA. Clubs therefore do not need to do anything regarding fibre connectivity themselves. If you require further information please contact Mary.Burgess@nztr.co.nz Regards Bernard Saundry
  12. Looking at Whanganui comments R8 2 Hooter Wide draw may be a plus 6 Tamahine But wide draw is a big negative
  13. What's happened with your one? Didn't you challenge Pitty that you would beat him to train a winner in July?
  14. Greg The invisible Dean McKenzie has been nothing short of a major disappointment. End of story.
  15. Why would they claim for Tote Operators. Wouldn't they be contractors only, not permanent staff and only paid for days of work required. We have only missed three meetings 11/4, 25/4 & 20/5.
  16. That's a totally different matter. At present they are losing money and they are saying they will be saving money by racing at Hastings.
  17. Seems a no brainer to come down to Hastings. Appears just a matter of time until they go broke racing at home. However, the recent race days had not been profitable for the club. Fixed costs can be a problem when an isolated course hosts just one raceday a year and the incentives to attract horses – which included a $200 payment per horse and a $10,000 trainers’ prize this year - are an added cost. “We have been in a position to do it, but it has been eating into the capital, which is slowly whittling away,” Young said. “We usually have bills of around $100,000 to $120,000 to pay after each meeting and there will be savings if we race at Hastings.” There were 69 runners, spread over eight races, at the PBTC’s most recent meeting, in February, but Team Rogerson provided a third of the starters.
  18. Huey some of these clubs make use of their facilities for other things other than racing. Take Ellerslie for example, they earn huge income from functions, conferences, public events etc I would imagine this aspect of the business could probably be more profitable than income from racing itself. Therefore GM, Finance, Marketing, Admin roles are required in order to support all arms of the business.
  19. Complete bonkers!!
