Me Too Nomates, some really good buggers on here, great contributors, our comeback was short-lived, life's too short and valuable to spend arguing. The surfs calling, waxed the board, ye-ha.......see you all on the other side. -

The lass may have only won 76K, however she's had to overcome problems that would have curtailed many other horses careers.......and, as you well know, as you do, she was backed from 100-1 into 20's when she won her first race at her 3rd start.......we collected big time, you don't have to put a lot on at that price to get a lot back......you see, if you had a gambling culture, and you don't, you'd understand the importance of the punt this side of the ditch.......it was and always will be huge, and with all the options here if your trainer is good enough and you know what you're doing you only need a good provincial horse to bring those rewards to your door...... Mrs Bloggs was kind enough to give me the inside oil when her HOF trainer informed her to have a 'wager' on her horse and it duly saluted..........racing rewards come in all shapes and sizes, but NOTHING gives me more pleasure than to skin a bookie...... -

Woopy Doo, so have I, FYI, Late last year Mrs Bloggs had a horse in work with a hall of fame trainer here, he trained a winner for her, looking at his accounts, very reasonable, in fact, bloody good value, would we race a horse up in moo loo country, hell will freeze over first! -

You're too modest, didn't you buy into only three horses these past 3 seasons and from those 3 get two stakes horses? One in particular a Gr1 horse? Chief would give his left testicle for a record like that.......and from what I can see your third horse can gallop pretty fair too....... -

We love the Kiwi racehorse, always did, always will, but reality is such that so many Kiwi black type races are punted onto our secondary racing channel. The other day they even ran with no sound, a race from Tuncurry took precedence. Maybe, just maybe for a few years ENTAIN might stimulate some interest as they throw bucks your way, nothing would please me more than to see NZ racing back where it belongs, right up there, but it aint gonna happen in my lifetime, sadly, sadly. -

NZ Black type has lost it's lustre, it's cache, not valued like it once was, it's now discounted........sadly. -

Have you ever been to a magic millions? It's a giant piss up, mine's bigger than yours, yes there have been some great horses come out of a 1200 horse sale, but, when you get an auditorium full of egos fuelled by top shelf liquor and the best reds on the planet all trying to outbid each other it's better to catch up with old friends outside and muse things racing. Sydney summer, Easter blue ribbon, and the QTIS sale are far better options, especially as the QTIS bonus scheme especially for fillies is so lucrative it's a no-brainer. -

Have a look at the huge amount of Oz breds that wear the tangerine Huey, and I'm wondering what the ROI on those are compared to NZ breds in that stable........especially the highly questionable obsession with Savabeels? The ROI for Savabeel colts would be interesting as we know his fillies are pretty good, but the boys in general are nowhere near as successful. -

Well, re the Roc de Cambes, satisfied with ours thanks, won 4 from 18, a few placings and we've trebled the prize money on the punt....as you well know, wink wink........Roc is a totally underestimated stallion, as was Iffraaj and Showcasing, but the Roc de Cambes can sprint or stay, very versatile, I wish I had more........ -

Doing a great job, gee there are some good young kids in the riding ranks, the amount of young ladies coming through is encouraging that's for sure.

Waters too warm, beer too cold......Oz's gain, NZ's loss.....

The Academy in Durban up at Summerveld is wonderful, Summerveld is a bit like Pinecliff or Lindsay Park, a huge training centre and the young jocks get every chance not only re riding and horsemanship but life skills as well.......if only Petone got off their collective backsides and flew over and had a look see........there has to be a will though, it might give then an insight as to how a Greenfield's would work......Just Saying.

You're spot on, think Waller, and Maher, and a few other takers, at Least Gai tutored apprentices, like her Dad, I think her last apprentice was Winona Costin, a very good rider, holds her own with any, Leon Macdonald, wonderful mentor, had some brilliant apprentices until he retired recently, they gave back, thank God for people that do, enough takers, not enough givers. If you do take on a youngster, you owe it to them to provide every chance, their future is in your hands, I've seen so many talented young kids lose their way in life, an academy is all well and good, it's who's running the thing that matters, and what happens when the apprentices go back to their bosses, unfortunately some of these so called riding masters have complex private lives themselves so what role models are they. There is no substitute for a good caring responsible boss, small team, big team, no matter, just someone that can identify and nurture talent, and encourage good manners and civility, respect has to come from within, in an ideal world their parents have provided that.......hopefully.
-
And to do that she needs practice, how the hell are these kids going to improve when there are 10 day breaks without racing in the South Island?........Petone programers need a rocket up their arses, poor fools the lot of em. Practice makes perfect, tennis pro's golf pro's have coaches, they practice everyday when not out playing, these poor kids are left high and dry, it makes you sick, sadly, sadly.
